A woman who works as an
NBA security official filed an employment discrimination lawsuit yesterday,
saying she was removed from an assignment to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London
after she spurned an advance from Connecticut and U.S. women's national coach
Geno Auriemma. Kelley Hardwick names Auriemma, the NBA and USA Basketball as
defendants. Auriemma called her account “beyond false” and said he would defend
himself “to the fullest.” The Big East filed a lawsuit against Texas Christian
for failing to pay the conference $5million after the school reneged on an
agreement to become a member and chose to join the Big 12 instead.
Testimony was completed at the Roger Clemens perjury trial when the government presented three rebuttal witnesses after the defense rested its case.
This is the ninth week of the trial that will determine whether Clemens lied when he told Congress in 2008 that he never used steroids and human growth hormone.
Jurors heard 46 witnesses over 26 days of testimony. Closing arguments will be heard today, and the case could go to the jury this afternoon.

Williams climbed to 47th in the WTA rankings, which determine who qualifies for the Olympics. The top 56 singles players are automatically accepted, with a maximum of four per country, and Williams is third among U.S. women behind her sister Serena (fifth overall) and Christina McHale (29th).
The fourth American in women's singles is expected to be Varvara Lepchenko, an Uzbekistan native who became a U.S. citizen in September. She's ranked 52nd.
