First Look at Kung Fu Masters, Shaolin Warriors, Coming to Houston

The kung fu masters known as the Shaolin Warriors are returning to Houston for two performances on Saturday, Oct. 27,Leipheimer set to defend USA Pro RadioShack Cycling Challenge title. at 3 and 7:30 p.m. in Wortham Center’s Cullen Theater, presented by Society for the Performing Arts. BroadwayWorld has a first look below.

Geared for the entire family, their latest theatrical production, titled Voices of the Masters, showcases the remarkable skill and stunning movement that is a trademark of the Shaolin Warriors. Performed by the Buddhist monks of the Shaolin Temple, a sect that has become known throughout the world for its disciplined spiritualism and deadly martial-arts prowess, the production features many forms of Shaolin kung fu, as well as a look at the daily temple life of the monks and their Zen Buddhist philosophy. Having trained from a very young age in mental and physical disciplines, these kung fu masters perform feats one thought only possible in the movies.

For nearly 1500 years, the Shaolin Temple has been the heart and soul of Chinese kung fu. The Shaolin Monks were men of action ready to defend, yet men of peace ready to console. The monks train in martial arts for several hours every day, perfecting the art of hand-to-hand and weapons combat. Each monk is required to achieve an extraordinarily high level of proficiency in each of the Temple’s 18 traditional weapons and to become a master of one.

However, it is the daily practice of seated meditation, which enables the individual performer to sustain a demanding physical regimen. Through a practice known as Ch’an (Chinese for Zen), they calm the body and focus the mind to a single collected point in order to attain a mental state known as Samadhi, or complete mental absorption. It is in this quiet, yet highly focused state of mind, that they are able to sustain extreme physical discomfort and pain and undergo the intense daily training required to achieve and maintain the level of adeptness for which they are so highly praised.Bennati agrees SAXO BANK Cycling Bank deal.

Body was loaded onto CST train at Pimpri or Chinchwad

The abandoned trolley bag found at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus with a woman’s body stuffed inside was loaded into the general compartment of the Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express either at the Pimpri or Chinchwad railway stations, a Government Railway Police (GRP) officer said.

The bag had been found on platform 9 opposite the general compartment of the train, which is the fourth compartment from the engine. The rates may perhaps moncler jackets for sale Armstrong many 7 connected with his Expedition p Italy blog titles. The said compartment was opened for passengers at both Pimpri and Chinchwad on its way to Mumbai, the officer said.

GRP personnel stationed at Pimpri, Chinchwad and Pune railway stations have been asked to check Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera footage to trace the persons who boarded the train with the trolley bag.

The Sinhagad Express arrived at CST at 10.10am on Wednesday.CCTV footage from CST captured two medium built men get off the train at around 10.15am and dump the red coloured trolley bag. This unique routing-capable mapping product is designed for Garmin Cycling. GRP personnel noticed abandoned trolley bag 30 minutes later.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman might bepregnant. However, the post-mortem reports from JJ Hospital rejected this possibility but clarified that the cause of death was strangulation.

The trolley bag with the body of the 30-year-old unidentified woman was found by Ashok Nikhale, head constable of the CST GRP. He was patrolling the station premises when he found the bag after which he informed senior police inspector Surendranath Deshmukh. The GRP have registered a case of murder and further investigations are on.

Halloween fans show their stripes!

The NFL and the zebras may be nearing an end to the lockout that turned the first three weeks of the football season into an on-the-field free-for-all and a PR disaster, but guess what’s the hottest-selling Halloween costume at iParty?

None other than the blind replacement ref and his cane!

“After Monday night’s game we have certainly had a run on these and I’m not surprised, moncler jackets men” said iParty party gal Dorice Dionne, whose Dedham-based chain is selling the blind ref costume for $22.RadioShack Cycling99. Such a bargain!

No word on whether they’ve had any orders from Green Bay, where the Cheese-heads are more than a little cheesed off about the whole situation. And they’re not the only ones. Because according to a new survey by Channel Media & Market Research in Burlington, pretty much every NFL fan is sick of the not-ready-for-prime-time replacements!

A whopping 72 percent of the 31,000 people surveyed said the Lingerie League refs have “impacted the outcome” of NFL games this season. And although the respondents were split on which side they backed in the labor dispute, there was near-unanimous agreement that the lockout needed to end.

“I think what people are basically saying ... is that while they are still watching NFL football, these officials and referees are detracting from their enjoyment,SAXO BANK Cycling” said Channel’s Susan Mulcahy.

“Long games, safety concerns for the players and a lack of knowledge of the rules have given fans the perception that these replacement officials are jeopardizing the integrity of the game. They believe ... this can be and should be resolved,” Mulcahy added.

Universal Pictures Has Already Had Its Best Box Office Year Ever

After the sinking of Battleship, you might not have thought Universal Pictures was going to have a big year at the box office to complement its 100th anniversary. Well, the studio didn't just have a big year, it had its best year on record, passing the previous all-time best gross of $1.127 billion back in 2008 — and there are still three more months to go.

Universal has had four films finish in the top 15 domestically this year (to date), tied with only Sony. Our canada goose parka jacket generally gives all variations of lower price canada goose parka, Ted led the way with more than $217 million, followed by The Lorax, Snow White and the Huntsman and Safe House. Franchise reboot The Bourne Legacy also falls in the top 20.

The studio had its share of financial duds this year too, however, with Battleship (which did fare better internationally), The Five-Year Engagement and American Reunion.

A few films still scheduled for October through December should add mightily to that total. Pitch Perfect opens in limited release Friday and has earned several positive reviews, contemporary kung-fu actioner The Man with the Iron Fists lands November 2nd and two likely hits await us in December: Judd Apatow's This is 40 and the awards-vying musical Les Misérables.

Ted has by and large been the key to Universal Pictures' 2012 success. Comedies rarely make the kind of money Ted has to this point and DVD/Blu-ray sales will probably be through the roof as well. Some surprise early-year hits in Safe House and even Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg certainly helped as well.

But now, it's not about the accolades.

“It was my way of trying to do something about raising awareness about the No. 1 birth defect,” he said of his return to songwriting. “More babies die from this than cancer and diabetes combined.”

Wilson said a doctor in Boston is working on a potential breakthrough, which would entail taking heart tissue and building an aortic valve. He hopes that his music and the subsequent awareness can assist this effort.

Along with Wilson, the festival should be a good time for all.

On Sunday, the festival is from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring Tirouette Dance Academy. Another local musician, Mike Moran, will also perform with his band.
There will be a raffle later that day and Racine said he hopes the grand prize will be $5,000. Of course, true to form, 2,000 pumpkins will be on display.

Woman walks free after knife scuffle

Boys are “off the radar” for at least one Brisbane 20-year-old, after a complicated relationship almost ended with her in jail.

Sophie Confaloniere pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding the stepfather of her then-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend after a dispute at a Gold Coast home in August last year.

In what Brisbane District Court Judge Michael Shanahan called “unusual circumstances”, a 44-year-old man suffered minor wounds to his abdomen after a fight between Confaloniere and two other women.

The court was told there was ill-will between Confaloniere and her boyfriend's former partner, which had escalated over social media.

Tensions between the pair reached a breaking point on August 10 last year and the pair exchanged threatening text messages, which ended with a fight being planned between the two of them.

Crown prosecutor Phil McCarthy said he accepted Confaloniere never intended to fight, but the second woman was “more serious” and arranged for her own friends to join her in confronting Confaloniere.

At least two women, including the ex-girlfriend and her stepfather, confronted Confaloniere at her boyfriend's house.

The court heard Confaloniere became scared for her own safety after seeing two of the women had come armed, one with a metal bar and another with a small knife. Why are SKY Cycling always denigrated?

While her boyfriend yelled at them to go away, Confaloniere ran into the house and grabbed an item from the hallway wall to defend herself.

Mr McCarthy said Confaloniere's boyfriend “appeared to be a collector of medieval weapons” and the item was “some sort of forearm or wrist knife”, which she used to ward off the two armed women, causing minor injuries.

Confaloniere was then “grabbed from behind” by the ex-girlfriend's stepfather, who, the court was told, was attempting to disarm her, but appeared to Confaloniere to be part of the attack.

She lashed out with the weapon and the man was struck in the abdomen. The court heard the weapon lodged under the man's skin,Bennati agrees SAXO BANK Cycling Bank deal. but did not cause any serious internal damage and the wound was treated with stitches.

Confaloniere was originally charged with attempted murder and spent 27 days in prison before she was bailed.

She pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding following negotiations between her defence team and prosecutors to downgrade the charges against her.

Judge Shanahan sentenced Confaloniere to two years' probation and did not record a conviction against the 20-year-old, telling her he had weighed the “unusual” circumstances surrounding the assault, her early guilty plea and good history.

“You're basically being given a chance,” he said.

Having been distraught outside court before her appearance, Confaloniere, whose dark hair had been dyed lighter and whose slight frame was neatly dressed in a grey suit jacket and black business skirt, was calm as her sentence was handed down.

She released a sigh and said “yes, your honour”, loudly when asked if she understood the terms of her probation.

Outside court, Confaloniere allowed defence solicitor Michael McMillan to speak for her.

He said his client was “very pleased it has all come to an end” and called the criminal proceedings “a very long and difficult road for her, particularly given the very serious charge she was first given”.

“There was never any hope of the evidence, once it was carefully scrutinised, will be warm along with canada goose expedition parka sporting spyder Moncler jackets. of the attempted murder charge being sustained,” Mr McMillan said.Everybody would want to buy moncler jackets.

“She is very keen to put all of this behind her, it's been very tiring on her, she has had a lot to deal with and now she just wants to put it behind her and get back in the work force and start to live a normal life.”

But Mr McMillan said it might take some time for Confaloniere's to return all parts of her life back to normal.

Hemlines rise and fall for Summer 2013 Milan Fashion Week

Women worrying about next summer's fashionable hemline needn't fuss. Everything is in.

At Milan Fashion Week, it's clear designers are leaving it up to personal choice, offering everything from a trailing gown to a mini-skirt.

Jil Sander has returned, and it shows.

No more dabbling into romantic or experimental styles, as happened when the label was in tLeipheimer set to defend USA Pro RadioShack Cycling Challenge title.he creative hands of Raf Simons. It's back to minimalist basics for the 68-year-old German designer.

Black is black white is white, a jacket is a jacket,The rates may perhaps moncler jackets for sale Armstrong many 7 connected with his Expedition p Italy blog titles. a blouse is a blouse, and a skirt or trouser is a skirt or trouser. After founding the company in the late 1960s she came and left it several times before taking it back in spring 2012, and showing her first menswear in June.

For her women's comeback debut Sander concentrated on volume games, creating an interplay between abundance and fittedness, often showing a slim back paired with a bold front. As usual, she only used fabric of the highest quality.

Along with different forms to choose from, ranging from tapered to conic, from straight up and down to sculpted and curvy,,canada goose parka generally have a custom lanyard at the lace of collar, the collection was highly wearable.

The color palette of course was minimalist, black white and navy with dashes of plum, bright orange and red, just to quiet critics who claim minimalist means bland.

The designing team of Federico Piaggi and Stefano Citron presented their third runway collection for Ferre since taking over last year.

Their new collection had hints of Asia, including a bustier embroidered with snakes and maxi-obis that become mini-dresses. Asymmetric shorts and quilted skirts were paired with tailored white shirts ― a clear reference to the style of the late founder.

Giorgio Armani always has done his own thing, leaving others to follow if they chose. This unique routing-capable mapping product is designed for Garmin Cycling.

His collection for spring-summer 2013 is no exception. There are no prints, plenty of pants and more glitter than a nighttime constellation.

The Armani daytime jacket is deconstructed in a pearl gray with matching skirt or wide trousers cropped at the ankle.

The cocktail hour comes in the lightest of pale pastel chiffon, turquoise, blue and power pink, with long skirts over cropped pants and a small jacket. Armani also offered a skirt-on-skirt version of the same look.

But it's by night that the designer bursts into glitter with a myriad of beautiful gowns and sparkling pants enhanced by a plisse silk bodice. Nighttime shades are midnight blue, slate gray and some black.

At Dolce & Gabbana, the show began with short sun dresses in blue and white stripes that recalled the pattern of a beach umbrella. Then came the more elaborate printed dresses, inspired by the gaily colored decorations of a wooden Sicilian cart. These were accessorized by hoop earrings reminiscent of the wheel of the cart as was the painting on the wedged sandals.

Tassels like the ones on the horse's bridal showed up everywhere, like on the brightly colored straw belts reminiscent of the horses decorative harness.

Locals make Jets duds

There's no hockey at the MTS Centre these days, but that hasn't kept Winnipeg Jets logos from flying around at a couple of local clothing companies.

Mondetta and Richlu Manufacturing have signed on to provide Jets Gear stores with clothing that comes with a distinctive flair. There are tons of canada goose jacket discount around nys.

Mondetta is providing zip-up hoodies, active-wear jackets and yoga pants for women and soft-shell hoodies,Celebrate 60 Years Of moncler coats! "parachuter" jackets and leather melton jackets for men.

Richlu, meanwhile, is making "work and weekend wear" -- jackets you could wear doing chores or coaching hockey -- for men and women. They are particularly seen to supply the cheap canada goose.

Most of the Jets clothing available for retail sale is produced by Reebok.

Mondetta custom designs all of its Jets wear at its Winnipeg headquarters, right down to the zipper pulls featuring the air force-inspired logo.

The designs are first done on paper. But before production samples are ordered, the logos and other design features are literally cut out and pinned to the garments to see how they look.

If Mondetta making Jets clothing sounds familiar, it should. The company partnered with the previous incarnation of the team, and former stars such as Teemu Selanne, Alexei Zhamnov and Keith Tkachuk were often seen wearing Mondetta Jets sweatshirts.

Richlu isn't new to the party, either. President Gavin Rich said the company made Manitoba Moose gear for True North Sports & Entertainment.

Both of its lines, Tough Duck and Work King, may be geared toward working,This unique routing-capable mapping product is designed for Garmin Cycling. but Rich has seen quite a bit of crossover.

"What you may wear for work is also what you wear to the Jets game in the evening. Our 'freezer' jacket is a fashion statement right now. It's where work, leisure and the weekend all come together, whether you're working for a living or you're a weekend handy-person," he said.

The garments from both companies will be available exclusively at the two Jets Gear stores in town. The Richlu items are already there and Mondetta brand director Tony Lavilla said their clothing will follow once the NHL lockout is over.

Small Tokyo fashion houses offer simple, affordable elegance for grown-ups

Tokyo fashion is more than just haute couture from upscale Ginza boutiques or the latest teenage trends seen on the streets of Harajuku and Shibuya.

Tokyo is also seeing a rise in home-grown fashion brands that offer affordable, elegant looks for adult women. These are well-made clothes that can serve as business attire, yet also maintain a simple, feminine elegance to complement the female silhouette. These clothes are made from quality material and solid craftsmanship, yet are not too expensive.

A long-held fashion industry maxim says that mature women with deep pockets wear overseas designer brands. But these budding Tokyo designers could make that concept a thing of the past. Here is a lineup of classy standards for grown-ups for the forthcoming fall-winter season.

“Lep Luss” is a fashion line introduced by designers Seiji Igeta, 34, and Yoshiko Kato, 33. The brand features minimal, basic designs that are almost devoid of any decoration. Igeta and Kato describe their trench coat as “handsome.” The trench's clean linear form shows off the delicate contours of the wearer.

Thirty-year-old designer Taro Horiuchi offers a cool, stylish look, such as slim pants paired with a double-breasted blazer. Horiuchi says he is attracted to designs that don’t necessarily emphasize gender.

Some designers make an effort to enhance the feminine aspect of the petite Japanese woman with a “less than full” physique.

Yasushi Nakano is the 33-year-old designer behind “Philore,” a brand that specializes in knits. Philore offers a lineup of delicate, have always been canada goose outleton the priority list of males.,canada goose parka generally have a custom lanyard at the lace of collar, almost translucent sweaters and dresses. Nakano uses quality material so that his knits exude sophistication and style. And you don’t need a jacket to pull it all together.

Maiko Kurogochi, 27, is the designer for the “mame” line. Kurogochi named her brand after her own nickname. A small and petite woman who looks much younger than her actual age, Kuroguchi advises women like her to highlight the delicacy of the feminine neck and wrists. Her dress with see-through lace sleeves is also a classy way to show a little skin.

Some clothes manage to exert their presence through the subtle texture of their fabrics without the use of loud decorations.

Norio Surikabe, 45, produces the brand “support surface.” His specialty is the use of high-end, high quality fabrics made in Japan and Italy for the beautiful drapes they create.Every people wants to buy canada goose chilliwack parka but with best quality. Surikabe skillfully cuts his cloth by draping them directly on a mannequin.

“Yoko Chan” is a popular brand that offers clothes in the moderate price range. Yoko Chan's skirts and dresses have simple lines and make the most of the crisp fabric, exuding a vibrant strength. Designer Yoko Chan, 35, was formerly a public relations representative for an overseas fashion brand. She wanted clothes that use choice materials and clever cutting at a reasonable price--and went ahead to establish her own brand.

Thirty-one-year old Naomi Kurahashi introduced her “The Reracs” brand after working in sales at a specialty boutique. From her experience, she knows how to maintain a balance between price and quality. Kurahashi said she wanted to offer staples that can be worn for many seasons at a more reasonable price compared with overseas luxury brands.

Girls star Allison Williams brought a file of red-carpet photos and a single request to her initial meeting with stylist Cristina Ehrlich: "My dream — my dream — is to wear Oscar de la Renta. It is one of the only designers I feel like I've always known about, and I've always noticed." Ehrlich says, "We've had a very planned-out way that we wanted to see the evolution of her style come to fruition. It was always about getting to this moment where she would wear Oscar de la Renta." And that is the long, involved story of how Allison Williams came to wear a green dress to the Emmys. For good measure, Williams and Ehrlich threw in a pink de la Renta for an Emmys pre-party.

Ivy League style on the runway, in books and in a new museum show

The quintessential Ivy League look, born on college campuses more than a century ago and epitomized by tweed jackets, seersucker suits, khaki trousers and button-down oxford-cloth shirts, hit the peak of its popularity in the mid-1950s, had fallen out of favor by the '70s and today is invoked most often as the upscale ancestor of the preppy aesthetic. But thanks to a shelf's worth of recent and upcoming books, a new museum exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and a new clothing line from J. Press - one of the Ivy League's earliest outfitters - interest in the look seems to be growing like kudzu.

The "Ivy Style" exhibition at the Museum at FIT, which opened Sept. 14 and will be on view through Jan.Team Specialized Cycling wins opening title at Worlds 2012. 5, is the museum's first effort dedicated solely to menswear. It focuses on apparel from the earliest years of the 20th century through recent designer collections arranged in tableaux that try to present the Ivy League man in his natural habitat - classroom, dormitory, fraternity, grassy campus quad and the like.

The exhibition was organized by museum deputy director Patricia Mears with co-curators and consultants Richard Press (former president of J. Press and grandson of founder Jacobi Press) and men's fashion writer G. Bruce Boyer.

Vintage pieces include crest-emblazoned and contrast-taped Princeton and Yale University blazers (from 1916 and 1919, respectively) and a 1966 J. Press Harris Tweed "Presstige" sport coat that's the very definition of the word "tweedy."

These pieces are displayed alongside modern-day iterations of the Ivy look by brands including Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers (the latter one of the exhibition sponsors). One particularly eye-catching ensemble that illustrates just how far the tendrils of Ivy's influence have stretched is an over-the-top Thom Browne fall 2012 menswear look that combines preppy pink, green plaids and allover hound dog prints with silver spikes at the crotch, shoulders and knees.

An accompanying book, "Ivy Style," edited by Mears (and published, appropriately enough, by Yale University Press) is due out in October, joining coffee table books such as Daniel Cappello's "The Ivy League," (published in April by Assouline); "Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style" (published in October 2011 by Rizzoli), written by Jeffrey Banks and Doria de La Chappelle with a foreword by Lilly Pulitzer; and the gold standard of the oeuvre, the 2010 English translation of "Take Ivy," a Japanese book originally published in 1965 that is filled with campus candids of the Ivy League look. In addition, Ivy League style will be the focus of the museum's annual fashion symposium in November.

But the refocus on the style isn't purely academic. Among the lines making their debuts during the spring and summer 2013 runway shows in New York City this month was J. Press York Street, a new collection from the company (which was purchased by Japan's Onward Kashiyama Co. in 1986) designed by brothers Ariel and Shimon Ovadia, whose efforts with their own label, Ovadia & Sons, earned them a spot on GQ magazine's 2012 list of best new menswear designers in America.

With the York Street collection (the name is a nod to the location on Yale University's campus in New Haven, Conn.,Every people wants to buy Canada Goose Winter Jackets but with best quality. where Jacobi Press opened his first store in 1902), J.,authentic canada goose coat are publicly considered as one of the best bodies warmer to keep warm in cold weather days. Press is attempting to dust off and reinvigorate the brand here in the U.S. To do so, the brothers Ovadia are mining the 110-year-old company's heritage for inspiration, taking key pieces and tweaking fits and silhouettes to feel more modern.

The resulting debut collection, scheduled to hit retail in the spring, includes a selection of khaki-colored suits, patchwork madras sport coats, oxford button-downs, polos accessorized with chambray bow ties and a seersucker piece or two thrown in for good measure. But the inaugural effort also includes military-influenced pieces, such as military jackets in nylon or cotton and cargo-pocket trousers.

To Press, who is no longer associated with the company that bears his family name, those kinds of influences make the look "the new, postmodern prep, derivative of the original Ivy League look."

Which brings up the question of what, exactly, distinguishes the Ivy League look from preppy style? While the exhibition touches briefly on the topic ("(S)ince 1980," reads a card accompanying one display, "preppy has encompassed a wider range of clothing elements, particularly women's fashion, and is more 'trend' driven than Ivy style"), others offered up more colorful explanations.

"Prep originally was the weekend look of Ivy" style, Press said. "You didn't wear your gray flannel suit to the golf club, you wore a madras jacket, will be warm along with authentic canada goose jackets sporting spyder Moncler jackets. a sports shirt and bright colors - pink, yellow and green. That was preppy."

Menswear consultant and stylist Michael Macko sees the Ivy League look as "pure and undistilled" while preppy is more of a hybrid - think urban preppy or Saharan prep.

Prada turns distinctly Japanese in Milan with daisies and kimonos

Milan fashion week sees Italian label offers a spring 2013 collection featuring traditional tabi socks and flower motifs

Deciphering a new collection by Miuccia Prada, who showed her latest women's collection for next spring on Thursday night during Milan fashion week, is done through a series of clues.

It starts with the invitation – this time white plastic with plain black type – and then the set, which featured black and white painted pillars and a walkway reminiscent of a Japanese temple.

In fact, as the models started to arrive on the catwalk, it all went decidedly Japanese-looking. Some girls wore metallic leather socklets like traditional Japanese tabi socks – where the big toe is separated from the rest — with small bows on them. They looked a little like ballet pumps without a sole. Some of these were worn with ornate super-stacked platform sandals.

The initial colour palette revolved around black, off-white and red with stylised flower motifs, which looked like either daisies or dandelions. Appliquéd on simple dresses at the beginning, they then appeared throughout.

Shapes also had a distinct eastern flavour,Everybody would want to buy moncler jackets. with judo-style belting in the back of one dress, hard origami-style folded skirts and dresses in pale pink or off-white duchess satin, and kimono-style off-the-shoulder jackets.

Backstage after the show, Miuccia Prada dodged the question when asked if it was meant to be a "bit Japanese". But she has a habit of doing this – when she did a very 1950s collection recently, she refused to confirm that it was based on that era. Instead she said that it was about the "impossibilities of women".

The use of flowers this time was meant to be a "symbol of life for women and the huge struggle we always have," she said. Other descriptions of the clothes she offered were "toughness with sweetness" and "rigorous but also delicate." She also confirmed that the crazily high platforms would be lowered before going into shops next January.

To break things up, there was a more graphic and sporty 1970s element, which seemed borrowed from June's menswear collection. Cycling shorts, gym knickers and a ribbed body suit all featured. For a spring/summer collection there was also a lot of fur. This unique routing-capable mapping product is designed for Garmin Cycling. Coats and tops featuring the daisy motif in black were included, while even delicate evening bags came in fur with jewels.

The current Prada autumn/winter collection, arriving in stores now and being worn by the likes of Anna Wintour, is all about graphic optical patterns, purple, trousers and embellishment, so – true to form – this latest offering took a turn in a totally different direction.

There was something rather brooding and rebellious, glamorous but a little sinister. Plus, there were plenty of trademark quirky accessories – floral decorated sunglasses, daisy-motif handbags and chunky heeled sandals.

Last month, Prada reported a 36.Leipheimer set to defend USA Pro RadioShack Cycling Challenge title.5% rise in sales to 1.54bn (1.23bn) for the six months to 31 July. Trade magazine Women's Wear Daily reported that, geographically, Asia-Pacific continues to drive Prada's growth, with sales up 45%,This is a 100% canada goose jackets,we don't have anything that's 100 percent. followed by Japan, up 34.2%. It's likely that, following Thursday night's show, those sales will continue to climb.

Fashion Forward on the Tennis Courts

According to a study done at North Carolina University, women make up the bigger half of the recreational tennis market.

It's no surprise, then, that women have led some of the biggest fashion movements of tennis, and that the fashion of tennis has changed to accommodate women's needs.

Nowadays, it's easy to find lots of great tennis gear targeted towards women. Women's tennis clothes are designed to flatter figures and to enhance game play. Women's shoes are designed to take into account even the slightest difference in women's feet from men's.

There are also many great choices for women in high fashion tennis gear. Tennis is a sport that tends to be popular with many high profile individuals. As a result, it's not surprising that high fashion women's bags and clothing have become popular and commonplace.

The original women's tennis outfit of the late 19th century was a pretty typical Victorian outfit: floor-length skirts,Everybody would want to buy moncler jackets. jackets, even bodices, and head covering hats or scarves.

White became the default color of tennis clothing because it could hide sweat stains, a necessity for the modesty minded woman of the early 20th century. White is still a popular color for tennis clothes, but this may be more out tradition than utility. This is a 100% canada goose jackets,we don't have anything that's 100 percent. Once something becomes a standard for Wimbledon, it's hard not to think of it as the default “look” of tennis.

But as awareness for the state of women's rights began to change, this societal change began to manifest in tennis fashion.

Women began to wear shorter skirts, and bolder colors. Suzanne Lenglen was a trendsetter in that regards. In 1922, she began to dress in brightly colored cardigans and short skirts for her games. This, along with Mary Sutton, who in 1905 refused to wear a long-sleeved shirt while playing, began to usher in a new era in women's tennis fashion.

In the 20s, the age of jazz was apparent in the fashion of women on the court. Cocktail dress-inspired uniforms filled the courts with extravagant detailing and high fur collars. Stars like Helen Wills-Moody made news with stylish above-the-knee flapper-inspired skirts.

In the 40s, icon Katherine Hepburn took her classic menswear aesthetic to the court with flattering high-waisted shorts.

Today, the short white skirt is almost synonymous with women's tennis fashion. But the right to this skimpy style was not easily won. Gertrude Moran, a famous tennis star of the 1950s, caused an uproar when she wore skirts that were short enoThis unique routing-capable mapping product is designed for Garmin Cycling.ugh that the photographers could catch glimpses of her lacy undershorts.

Moran, who the press called “Gorgeous Gussie” because of her frequent racy photos, was forced to wear shorts as a result of this event, but she was still a trendsetter in the world of tennis. She also requested a multicolor uniform, though at the time,Leipheimer set to defend USA Pro RadioShack Cycling Challenge title. white was the only accepted uniform color.

Ted Tingling, a former designer and player, designed Moran's famous panties, and later designed golden panties for Karol Fagero, but she was banned from wearing them at Wimbleon, and Tingling was shunned from the tennis community.

Four takeaways from Pro Walk/Pro Bike and Women's Cycling Summit

I didn't make it to the big Pro Walk/Pro Bike advocacy conference and the National Women's Bicycling Summit that were down in Long Beach last week; but I did follow it closely via Twitter and other outlets. From all the news and opinions I've read, four things stood out.Why are SKY Cycling always denigrated? I share them below in case you missed them too.

Mark Gorton's calls for radical reform
Mark Gorton, the web entrepreneur and financier behind Limewire, Streetsblog, and Streetfilms, gave a keynote that brought the house down. Gorton has recently launched a global initiative dubbed "Rethinking the Automobile" and his speech certainly seemed to meet that goal. Channeling one of his inspirations, Gorton exclaimed, "Birds fly, fish swim, people walk,Bennati agrees SAXO BANK Cycling Bank deal." and he added that making it impossible to walk in our cities is a "human rights violation." Cities have become so auto-centric that Gorton believes, "We have crushed the ability of children to move about their own world.Everybody would want to buy moncler jackets." To thwart the dominance and negative impacts of cars in cities, he suggested that, "We should not be building any new automobile infrastructure."

How can we push for such dramatic change? "We [people] are the majority. Cars don't vote," Gorton said. He also called for a new campaign to change the way people think about transportation.

Cycle Chic Fashion Show created a buzz (and it wasn't good)
As many bike conferences and large events tend to have these days, the National Women's Bicycling Summit held at Pro Walk/Pro Bike included a bike fashion show. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the Cycle Chic Fashion Show seemed to have had too much chic and not enough cycle. Karen Brooks,Team Specialized Cycling wins opening title at Worlds 2012. editor of Bicycle Times magazine summed up the feelings I've heard from several people:

Unfortunately, this was the one jarring note of the event—after hearing so many powerful messages of empowerment for women and girls, we were presented with a show that seemed to go for the typical shock-value sex appeal of runway fashion. Gold body paint and a bikini for riding a bike? Really? Especially when the guy models were in full-length pants and jackets (and actually riding, not walking)? I talked about it with other attendees afterward, both female and male, and we agreed that it was disappointing.

Emily Finch in her own words
Portland resident Emily Finch, whose story about giving up her SUV and toting her six kids around on a bakfiets has garnered worldwide attention, was one of the main speakers at the Women's Cycling Summit. New to public speaking and to all the fame her story has attracted, she opeted to share a video presentation that told her story in her own words. From what I can gather, it was very well-received.

The Topshop girl grows up!

The Topshop girl grows up! Unique show sees groomed and glossy models rock the runway in sheer dresses and plenty of checks

This was the day the Topshop girl became a woman. At the Unique show groomed and glossy haired models strode confidently down a futuristic catwalk in elegant and wearable modern tailoring, pencil skirts, billowing oversized tunics, asymmetric hem skirts, slim one shoulder dresses, and up-to-the-minute sports luxe looks with sweatshirts and sequins.

These self assured ladies wore towering nude or white spike heel shoes with transparent panels.

Under the expert hand of new Creative Director Kate Phelan, gone was the weird and wonderful suited only to gawky teenagers, to be replaced by the wardrobe of a self-assured woman.

LEFT: Checks ran through collection as a strong theme, while RIGHT, pop of yellow brightened up the monochrome

First up was a stunning monochrome selection of black and white mixed with giant checks which saw oversize chequered coat teamed with slim trousers and loose shirt.

As seen on catwalks around LFW, the mix of sheer and opaque with tunic dresses with checked or plain panels, relaxed shirt and trousers in yet more check, and a perfect cream trouser suit.

A pop of colour was introduced with sunshine yellow on a long, loose maxi-length shirt and matching trousers.

Bold white flowers on black were used for trouser suits and oversized tops gave a new take on florals, while black and stripes were also reinvented in contrasting panels in an fresh take on shift dresses, and all in a wearable, muted colour palette.

Covered up: Sheer panelled dresses and bra tops were made more demure with the long lines of oversized jackets or sophisticated coats

Assured: Velvet appliqué shapes on a sheer dress - set to be a big trend for S/S13

FROW; Pixie Geldof sat with Poppy Delevigne on the front row at Unique

Good times: A clearly delighted Pixie Geldof enjoyed the show - Topshop's biggest ever

In a very demure show of flesh loose navy tailored jackets and coats and covered pencil skirts teamed with cropped and bra style tops, or two-level slim skirts.

Maxi tunic shirts would make perfect holiday wardrobe staples.

Continuing the theme of mixing textures boxy pale nude sweatshirt shapes topped matte silver sequin skirts and the silver sequins appeared as one shoulder tops with black or nude little two level skirts, as tunic dresses with sheer band hems and as modesty-saving panels on sheer tunic tops.

To finish, this assured collection, another big next summer trend of black sheer dress, this time tunic style with velvet appliqué shapes.

So is the Topshop shopper ready to grow up? My guess is this will sit happily alongside the younger collections,Leipheimer set to defend USA Pro RadioShack Cycling Challenge title. and maybe entice another type of customer through the doors.

Bold looks at NY Fashion Week turn up the volume

The designers previewing spring collections at New York Fashion Week may not have had a single voice, but they all spoke loudly.

"Bold" was the word that buzzed around the tents at Lincoln Center after eight days of previews came to an end on Thursday. Between saturated color, sexy cutouts, statement-making stripes and mixed-up prints, the clothes had sometLIVESTRONG Cycling continues to support Riis despite Hamilton's doping claims .hing to say.

"It feels like a statement season," said Brandon Holley, editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine. "It feels like everyone is tired of shopping their closet, and they're ready to make a new statement."

Retailers are happy to see newness and bright colors, said Ken Downing, fashion director for Neiman Marcus.

"There were some have-to-have things," said Downing, who ticked off a sleeveless jacket, a full skirt that's either swingy and short, or cut on the bias and falling below the knee, and colored leather - maybe laser cut? - as items that will be on the top of the list for shoppers.

Nearly 200 designers preview their spring collections in New York before the fashion crowd heads to London, Milan and Paris. In seasons past, it was as if they all agreed on a message ahead of time. After the recession started, a hard-edged chick was the obvious muse. A few seasons later, everything was bohemian.Spice Girls rocked Olympic Stadium: Photos of the shop moncler jackets .

This time, there were certainly clear trends - among them skirt suits, big colors, below-the-knee coats, leather, cutouts, corsets and banding, stripes and black-and-white. But there were many muses instead of one It Girl.

There were hints of India and other exotic locales. And the prints were edgier than what are usually offered in spring - instead of "pretty" florals, there were digital renderings, X-ray patterns, skulls. "If it is a floral, then it's photo realism floral, and that seems very different," Holley said.

Even uptown staples Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta had an edge, with the latter adding leather and latex to his society girl.

It's as through designers stopped dictating style and are instead providing options. There's your breath of spring air.

RALPH LAUREN

Statement made, Ralph Lauren: Be strong. Be bold. Go on that adventure.

The first look on Ralph Lauren's runway featured a turquoise suede poet top, with cascading ruffles down the front, and the model wore a beret and carried a studded motorcycle bag. From there, it was a bright red hand-crocheted tank dress and a few looks later was a tomato red suede jacket with rustic brown leather details.Throw a moncler down coatsover the shoulders for a quick way to pull together a look .

A colorful blanket-style serape was getting buzz from editors and stylists before they even left the downtown show space where Olivia Wilde and Jessica Alba sat in the front row. Lauren offered the same idea - in the same green, brown and yellow colors - in an off-the-shoulder serape wrap top that probably more easily fits into the closets of most customers. The Donna shorts are one of Castelli Cycling first pieces of triathlon apparel .

There were beaded bolero jackets and embellished jodhpur pants that evoked a matador to the Spanish-style music, with flat-top hats and colorful scarves around some models' necks. But taking each piece on its own, it wasn't a costume.

CALVIN KLEIN

Francisco Costa, women's creative director at Calvin Klein, got to have final say Thursday at New York Fashion Week as one of the last major designers to preview a spring collection, but he left a purposeful impression of things left undone.

It's what left the crowd wanting more. Edges were left frayed, contrasting linings were revealed, and necklines were bare and exposed, all giving the impression that one was seeing more than they should. A gold hardware frame peeked atop the black sheer-panel dress that closed the show.

Costa has a knack for the "seductive lines," he mentioned in his notes. He certainly drew eyes to the bust and bodice, offering a series of conical bustiers, which were exactly what they sound like. On their own, they were futuristic but also a little harsh; under a sheer silk corset or a mesh silk crepe coat, they were sexy and edgy.

Calvin Klein continued the many layers of fabrics and textures that have dominated the runways: an abstract lace dress goes over a lacquered satin bustier and a bonded mesh skirt, for example. But the fact that almost every outfit featured black here can't be called part of that trend - it's a way of life for this design house.

Olympic bronze medalist gymnast Peter Kormann experienced one of the most elite thrills of a lifetime when he brought home a bronze medal to the United States in 1976 after competing in the Olympic games in Canada – he was the first US gymnast to earn a medal since the 1932 games.

Kormann earned third place in floor exercise that year. He was able to meet and compete alongside famous athletes such as Light Welterweight gold medalist Sugar Ray Leonard and decathlon gold medal winner Bruce Jenner.

“It's exciting because all the best gymnasts in the world and the best athletes are there,” said Kormann, who was 21 at the time. “The level of competition is so high and the intensity is so high. The Donna shorts are one of Castelli Cycling first pieces of triathlon apparel . It's kind of like … going to the Superbowl I would imagine.”

Kormann took up the sport when he was 10 and remembers training all the time.

Kormann was unable to compete in 1980 due to the United States'

Olympic boycott, and he was too old to participate in the 1984 games. The medalist went on to become head coach of the U.S. Olympic men's gymnastics team in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996 and Sydney, Australia in 2000.

Kormann now passes on the torch to aspiring athletes at his gym, Yellow Jackets Gymnastics, located at 4B Lookout Lane in Middleton. The gym offers classes in gymnastics, cheerleading,LIVESTRONG Cycling continues to support Riis despite Hamilton's doping claims . marital arts and, soon,Throw a moncler down coatsover the shoulders for a quick way to pull together a look . rock wall and climbing programs. The 25,000 square foot air-conditioned gym also has trampolines and offers birthday party programs, in which several events can be combined to celebrate a special day. Kormann is also looking into starting a dance program.

The gymnastics classes offered are for children 18-months-old to adults,Spice Girls rocked Olympic Stadium: Photos of the shop moncler jackets . male and female alike.

“Gymnastics is a great sport for boys and girls even if they don't stay with it … it develops strength, flexibility, coordination, builds confidence, teaches balance,” said Kormann.

Kormann explained that a background in gymnastics encompasses athletes with all the necessary physical skills they need to excel in other sports. He dismissed the common stereotype that gymnastics is looked at as a girls' sport, saying people often return to his gym to tell him their sons are stronger than everyone in their class because of gymnastics training.

“Our forte is teaching Olympic gymnastics,” said Kormann of the 13-week gymnastics class semesters the gym offers.

Boys' gymnastics classes offered include floor, rings, vaulting, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar. Girls can opt to take classes in vault, bars, beam and floor. Both boys and girls classes also use trampoline as a teaching tool.

Statement Season

Another season, another set of trends. As is generally the case these days in fashion, not everything is new-new (case in point: peplums don't appear to be going anywhere), but luckily, there are enough super-fresh looks to get you excited about dressing for fall (optical prints! Extreme embroidery! Purple!). Read on, take note of the trends you love, and get shopping: the new collections are now hitting stores, so while you may be relishing the last of the long, sunny days, now's the time to start thinking about what to wear after you pack away your shorts and sandals.

DECORATIVE ARTS
It's all about opulence, shine, and baroque influences, as models paraded down the Altuzarra runway in embroidered, tasselled and beaded separates and sashayed down the Dolce & Gabbana catwalk covered in gold embroidery. The effect is one of high glamour and can be achieved by choosing anything with appliqués, rhinestones, foil treatments on denim, and, of course, gilded embellishment. "Baroque and Art Deco influences have made gold the metallic colour of the season," confirms Suzanne Timmins, Fashion Director for The Hudson's Bay Company, who suggests finishing the look with gold jewelry, watches and even cosmetics.Softness in the global jeans and women's swim bikini. Not sure how to pull this off for daytime? Barbara Atkin, Holt Renfrew's Vice-president, Fashion Direction, recommends pairing a cropped, black jacket with gold embroidery with leather leggings and a turtleneck sweater for the weekend.

OPTICAL ILLUSION
Statement prints this season fall into one of three categories, the first being perhaps the more outlandish and interesting. Optical illusion prints are exactly as they sound: think anything geometric-squares, circles,Kim Kardashian's 'night uniform costume pix . patterns that make you dizzy - and you get the idea. Try wearing a graphic-printed,If you wore Zubaz, you might as well have been wearing wholesale halloween costume. belted pantsuit to combine the trend with another of the season's freshest new looks.

GET SKINNED
"The leather legging is a must-have for every woman," insists Atkin. " They go great with sheath dresses and tunics, as well as last season's minidresses." From wet-looking, super-slick patent at Acne and Alexander Wang to buttery-soft lambskins at Mulberry, Burberry Prorsum and Marios Schwab, leather this season ranges from oversized jackets to two-piece skirt suits to, yes, leggings. For some-thing more timeless and less, er, hardcore, try a perfecto jacket (a topper to wear with literally everything in your closet), a sleeveless dress (pair with a blazer for the office), or leather skirt (wear with a tee for a laid-back weekend look).

LIFE'S ALL BLACK AND WHITE
Hardly a fall/winter goes by without a resurgence in black - but this time around it looks more S&M-like than ever before, what with all the bits of leather (see "Get Skinned", above) and other opulent, textured fabrics (velvet, fur, suede, lace, and everything in between). At Rag & Bone, a black gown was toughened up with a leather strap that crossed the chest, while a leather bustier dress with lace inset gave an otherwise feminine dress a hard edge at Mulberry. Go with bare legs and ankle boots to complete the look. On the other end of the colour spectrum, winter white has made a comeback - see the slouchy, elegant dresses by BCBG Max Azria and fur-sleeved dresses by Roksanda Ilincic for proof - as has the always-striking combination of black and white together: the colour-blocked dresses by 3.1 Phillip Lim are to die for.

GIRL'S GUIDE TO HUNTING AND FISHING
Like peplums, preppy looks much like those you'd expect to see in an episode of Downton Abbey is one of those trends that seems to re-emerge each fall out. Unlike peplums, this trend usually means separates that translate into timeless pieces that will work independently with every piece in your existing wardrobe. The king of the east coast outdoorsy preppy lifestyle himself, Ralph Lauren, showed a pinstriped brown suit with matching bowler hat: a bit literal, perhaps, but smart nonetheless. According to Atkin, this preppy trend speaks to London's growing influence in fashion once again: "it's all about androgyny: the perfect jacket, blazer, man-tailored pant with pleats, the little vests, the coat worn over a boyfriend cardigan." This trend also lends itself to the crop of new puffer coats ("puffa," as those in the know are calling the once-dowdy clothing item) that are everything but Michelin man.

Women Get Edgy in Leather for Fashion Week

As the first hint of cool weather hit Lincoln Center during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, so did the edgy trends of Fall — in the form of the season's hottest leather.

Fashion-forward women hit the tents donned in both the real deal and Pleather look-alikes, wearing the slick fabrics in the forms of teeny-tiny skirts,If you wore Zubaz, you might as well have been wearing wholesale halloween costume. full-length dresses and the kind of spiky accessories fit for rock stars.

"I love my edgy,This is the Armstrong who inspired millions to get out and take up the Christmas Costume. my leather accessories. I love the spikes — it's very bold, it's very in right now," said Larissa Muehleder, a designer who created her own full-length spiked leather outfit for Fashion Week.

"It's very daring, and that brings out the rocker chick look in females. That's what I'm going for right now."

Muehleder came dressed in black spiked leather leggings and a form-fitting dress with spikes on the bust — an outfit that she says was head-turning, but painful for those who got too close.

Not that she felt that the empowerment was a bad thing.

"I definitely feel like leather is pro-women," she said. "It makes you look edgy and feminine, but also in a masculine way."

Other trends she had seen were more feminine leather leggings, skirts, jackets and purses.

Anna Koopmann, from Germany, said she wore leather because she loved the freedom she felt wearing it.Each week's event has two parts, including a bikini and wholesale underwear round.

"I always try to combine different materials, like lace and leather, because I'm not a romantic person, I'm not a princess," Koopmann said, wearing a short leather skirt with a shiny silver shirt, tucked in.

"I'm a woman and I like to be edgy, like an edgy princess."

Dublin-based blogger Molly McKeever, who wore a short leather skirt from Forever 21 with a cropped top, also said her favorite thing about the trend was its versatility.

"It goes with everything, so it's perfect," she said.

"Leather — I love it. It used to be only boots and jackets,Kim Kardashian's 'night uniform costume pix . now it's everything.

"It's not too fitted, It kind of clings in the right way and it's good to mix with other materials."

Farhani Kahn, from Orlando, agreed.

"Leather's in because it's super chic," she said, adding that she thought the trends were a nod to Madonna and other styles of the 80s and 90s.

For Stephanie Cole, who works in security, the leather was like armor.

"It makes me feel like a rocker," she said.

"It's like you could be wearing anything, anything at all, and then you throw a leather jacket over the top of that and it kind of completes the look and makes you feel like you could take over the world."

Theyskens' Theory RTW Spring 2013

If the key to creating a successful clothing line is repetition laced with a little fashion, then Olivier Theyskens has gotten the memo. Since teaming with Theory’s Andrew Rosen, Theyskens has settled into a reliable formula — not necessarily a bad thing — of tailored daywear, denim, tweed jackets and shorts and little dresses that are often knitted, followed by a finale of dramatically melancholy gowns. Spring at Theyskens’ Theory was no exception. But this time, what in the past was a nimble fusion of Theyskens’ often strong penchant for fantastical Goth-grunge and Theory’s Theory-ness — it is a company that rose to glory by the seat of its great-fitting work pants — appeared caught in a tug of war.

At first, Theyskens seemed intent on a fairly aggressive grunge motif anchored in dark colors and boxy fit. Black suits featured big jackets and wide-leg pants that created a long, square silhouette. There was also head-to-toe leather — a thick, black jacket worn over a blue shirt and matching pants.Nizzolo, Popovych commit to RadioShack Cycling . Maybe the clothes blended too much into the dark setting, but they didn’t hold up to what was meant as a strong statement. The best of the dark stuff was a cleanly tailored coatdress and a long, navy baseball jacket cut with dramatic volume. Then, suddenly, things turned icy blue with tweeds, washed-out jeans and dresses and jackets replete with sparkly snowflakelike embroideries. Prettier and more feminine than the previous looks, the soft stuff still had an edge even if it felt out of context.

Djokovic defeated David Ferrer of Spain 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in a semifinal that was halted in the first set because of impending rain Saturday and wrapped up yesterday.

FashionTV Reveals H&M's Fall 2012 Trends for Women

September has finally arrived upon us and if you're a fashionista, you know exactly what that means. Fashion weeks for Spring 2013 are right around the corner!

FashionTV will be traveling to the fashion capitals of the world - New York, Paris, London and Milan, bringing you exclusive highlights from top designers. But before we check out the newest collections for next season, let's find out what's hot this season!

FashionTV has learned what H&M has come up with for the Fall/Winter 2012-2013 and we want to give you the 411 on their upcoming trends for the season.

Embellishments, glitter, bold prints and broad shoulders are just a few of the biggest trends for Fall 2012, according to H&M.sexy Babydoll for Halloween Now Expanded at Das Cheap . Top model, Ava Smith struts in some of H&M's newest pieces. This Fall, it's all about being strong and powerful with colors such as royal blue and burgundy and new fabrics. H&M head designer, Ann-Sofie Johansson tells FashionTV, “You need something more clean cut, new fabrics, such as wool, there's quite a lot of things happening on the fabric front.”. Shapes are extremely important this season as well as volumized shoulders and marked waists, bringing back the pencil skirt and slim narrow trouser for a sculptured look.

According to stylist,Over moncler jackets men grey one half from the deaths occurred from the north from the say. Ominia Salem, there are plenty of tomboy effects such as wearing jackets, pants and suits, yet always leaving that feminine touch. Leather is in fact, the most popular trend of the season, it's everywhere! It is seen on everything from dresses to shirts.Kim Kardashian's 'night uniform costume pix . Spectacular floral and multicolored prints are everywhere, too.

“I think the must-have for the season is a slack, a pencil skirt and something decorated”, Johansson tells FashionTV. Decorative elements such as colorful rhinestones, oversized jewels and gems portray the glam of a strong woman.

A big fan of Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa's designs ("I want them all, even the menswear"), she too dreams of having her own label in Thailand, and teaching as well.

But for the immediate future, her sights are on New York: "The fashion industry in Thailand is not as developed as here. I want to get experience and then I can go back home and develop."
Other Asians participating in Friday's graduate show were Jisun Lee from Seoul, who reinterpreted men's suits from the 1920s as women's wear for today, and Yanfei Fan, from Shijianhuang, Hebei province,French moncler coats brand Moncler has also adopted a similarly fantastical . Next Summer? Tough vs. Tender

Michelle Obama, in her speech to support her husband, the president, set the agenda for New York Fashion Week.

Her forceful femininity — played out in a bright, shapely dress showing off a toned and energetic body — has become the mantra for young designers looking for ways to bridge fashion gaps: tough versus tender,This is the Armstrong who inspired millions to get out and take up the Christmas Costume. uptown versus downtown and the dichotomy of a power woman with an emotional spirit.

The contrasts in the summer 2013 season, which runs through this week, appear not least in the show venues themselves, which alternate between Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side and Milk Studios, way down the Westside Highway.

The trend is toward fusion. And the result on the runway is intriguing, as when Alexander Wang sent out sharp, graphic, back-to-the-1960s looks, but softened that concept with peeps onto the body and animalistic details like a crocodile worked in eyelets down the backbone of a shirtdress or tiny bead embroidery giving the illusion of snakeskin.

The feeling of (what Mr. Wang called backstage) the “tension and suspension” of the clothes included the skeletal, cutout knee-high boots. The show already felt vital and dynamic — then came its vibrant ending: Models lined up for a glow-in-the-dark effect that changed graphic into color, bringing an ovation from the crowd.

“It's very French,Throw a moncler down coatsover the shoulders for a quick way to pull together a look .” said Joseph Altuzarra , explaining that “there is a narrative, something about getting dressed for youth.” That translated into chic chignon hairdos, in contrast to the loose locks of the actress Jessica Chastain sitting front row. Yet the tidy hair was a perfect accompaniment to the blue-striped cotton summer jackets, with patches of Swarovski beading sparkling like sun on sea.

This neat and tidy woman (give or take gilded-fringe belts that threatened to overwhelm the elegance) had sleeves with arm vents, allowing freedom of movement like a cape. That was a smart way of breaking out of the constraint of tailoring and giving uptown clothes a youthful vibe. Even when macramé fringing and scalloped embroidery overtook the ease, Mr. Altuzarra proved himself a designer who is stepping smartly forward.

Jason Wu , a favorite to dress uptown girls (and even the first lady), took a seductive “Fifty Shades of Grey” approach, citing as his inspiration the “provocative, erotically charged images” of Helmut Newton contrasted with the “gentle forms” of the photographer Lillian Bassman.

On the runway, that meant lacy bras and harnesses absorbed into leather dresses, with chiffon and lace interspersed with tougher fabrics.

It is a safe bet that Mrs. Obama, who has looked elegant wearing Mr. Wu's streamlined clothes, will not venture into this shadowy, shady world of revealing and concealing flesh. But as an exercise in melding soft and hard, fluid and taut, the show was gracefully done.

For Peter Som , the approach was more intensely girly, from the lace trim on soft shorts through bra tops and draped summer dresses. These were surely aimed at uptown girls, but with a flirtatious spirit politely evocative of sensuality but nothing to make Mr. Som's woman — or his show — stand out in a crowd.

At Rag & Bone , fusion seemed less of an illusion, as the designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville steeped sportswear in layers of male/female influences, using the textures of a leather jacket with a nylon shirt or a similar softly quilted jacket with crisp white piqué. Colors, too,UA mascot sexy pajamas get an update . were subtle mixes of clotted cream with glaring white. The result was streamlined and well thought out, yet somehow missed an edgy, downtown energy. The rates may buy moncler jackets for kids sale price tag Armstrong many 7 connected with his Expedition p Italy blog titles.

AtSuno , the designer Erin Beatty widened the fashion scope by facing off what she called “Old Americana” with oversize sportswear hinting at the 1980s.

Vintage prints from the Congo were mixed with faded prairie patterns, while solid jacquard weaves played off against filmy fabrics. Ms. Beatty described Suno's current mission as “making things seem useful again.” But above all, she and her partner, Max Osterweis, have a fresh take on fashion that makes the line seem both thoughtful and original.

Why we can't get enough of French label Sandro!

A French label always gets us excited: Gallic charm; insouciance in the way the clothes carry themselves,French moncler coats brand Moncler has also adopted a similarly fantastical . and above all, that just-arrived-from-Paree feeling we get every time we slip into something of francais heritage.

Sandro is that label. A Parisian fashion house whose clothes radiate insouciance with a razor sharp edge. It's Emanuelle Alt, after she's spent a week living with Rihanna; sharp, sleek tailoring with contrasting, outstanding street detail that has us wanting to devour the entire collection as if it were fashion chips.

Working with a palette of electric blue, grey, bottle green and Bordeaux for autumn/winter 2012, Sandro offers style and pocket-conscious shoppers the perfect, mid-market sartorial antidote to the pricey, high end Fall collections that are oh-so-desirable, yet financially destructive!

Denim has been fashioned in delectable variations,Over moncler jackets men grey one half from the deaths occurred from the north from the say. ranging from shock-inducing block colours, to leopard print and boasting eyelets lace and zip details to add an interesting edge.

The Sandro girl doesn't compromise style for comfort, instead merging them together and wearing it in the form of an oversized chambray shirt, sexy Babydoll for Halloween Now Expanded at Das Cheap . or a cosily chic lambswool, angora and cashmere mix sweater. Blouses, shirts and vests come emblazoned with circus prints, tiger heads speckled complementarily amongst polka dots and a russet coloured silkscreen top that has us drooling at its high end look, high street price!

Outerwear and accessories are hot Fall favourites, too, as the Sandro girl embraces an uber-luxe fur-trimmed leather jacket, coats boasting military details and leather-trimmed mannish coats in melange tweed, whilst accessories take a functional turn in the form of zipped, wristlet clutch bags and roomy, embossed leather satchels in want-now hues.

Shoes for Fall, you'll be pleased to know, don't fall into the blister-causing category. A moccasin suede studded slipper touches on the super-comfortable slipper trend,Kim Kardashian's 'night uniform costume pix . while Sandro's classic sneaker, the Albatross' is reworked in want-now variations of denim and pink leather and leopard print. Heel lovers, don't despair, instead snap up the Abracadabra; a slingback platform heel in uber-luxe goatskin.

An overall desirable collection boasting season-transcending pieces with a gritty edge, in wardrobe- building colours and cuts that aren't too trend-led. If chic could be comfortable with a tinge of street style cred, it would probably look like this collection.

Cambridge-Isanti student council staying busy

The Cambridge-Isanti High School student council has been busy over the summer planning events for the new school year.

The leaders of the student council are called the executive board, which governs over the full council.

“It's the students' council. They should have a voice,” Advisor James Woodbury said. “There's this very active group of kids who want—who desperately crave—the opportunity to be leaders, and they want to make a difference. They have all these really good ideas because they believe in Cambridge-Isanti High School. We all think this is a great place to be, but it's not perfect, and their job is to have that student perspective,If you wore Zubaz, you might as well have been wearing sexy pajamas. that student voice that says ‘let's work together.'”

Executive board meets once a week during the school year, as well as every few weeks during the summer. The full student council met once over the summer and meets every two or three weeks during the school year.

The student council executives this year are Jesse Berg, Erica Epsen, Chase Hicks, Maria Leibel, Anyssa Rassett, Morgan Scheiller, Hannah Thiry and Taylor Weeks.

One event planned by the council is the Senior Sunrise, which kicks off the year for seniors as an opportunity for them to set their expectations, goals and plans for the final year of high school.

To close off their year, seniors will participate in the Senior Sunset.

Homecoming T-shirts are designed by student council. This year, the front of the shirt reads “Cambridge-Isanti High School 2012 Homecoming.” The back reads “10% luck.Women's moncler down coats is showing a huge male influence this season . 20% skill. 15% concentrated power of will. 5% pleasure. 50% pain. And 100% reason to remember the Jackets!” The line is a reference to a lyric from the Fort Minor song “Remember the Name.”

Another event the council is planning is the Haunted Hallway for Halloween. Student council members will decorate and ‘haunt” a hallway as a fundraiser open to the community,Christmas Costume for Halloween Now Expanded at Das Cheap .

Thiry explained.

Teacher appreciation days throughout the year involve student council members distributing cookies and beverages to teachers, along with thank-you cards.

And Snow Daze, the school's winter festival with a pep fest and semi-formal dance, is in December this year. As part of the festivities, student council sets up a week of dress up days, Thiry said. For instance, students might have ugly sweater day or dress like a twin day. Two representatives from each grade are selected to represent the school and host the lunch room games.

Planning events isn't all the student council does. Last year, the council re-wrote part of the technology policy. Starting this year, district-wide, students will be allowed to carry their cell phones throughout the school and will have access to Facebook.

“Mitch Clausen, the principal here, is a big believer in having a student voice, and technology integration is one of the themes for the district,” Woodbury said.

The student council was approached and asked to look at the technology policy and tell administrators what the most effective changes would be from a student standpoint.

“It worked pretty well for the most part. There was some abuse to it, but there's always going to be people that want to push the boundaries. It came off really well, and now it's district-wide. They're really encouraging technology use,” he said. “It really empowered the council because they felt like they were being heard.French moncler jackets men brand Moncler has also adopted a similarly fantastical .”

Woodbury said he strongly believes in having a student voice in the school.

“My job with the full student council is to act as a sounding board. For executive board, my job is to give them some advice, guidance and leadership, to really enhance their leadership,” he said. “These are people that I trust, that I try to mentor to try to shape them into somebody I think they can be. I try to give them encouragement to say, ‘you can take that next step to have that confidence. I believe in you, I believe in this and I believe in this school, and I think that you guys are ready.' I try to encourage them to take that leadership. If I do my job well enough, then I can back off.”

Before changing the technology policy, the student council re-wrote part of the dance policy.

This year, they're hoping to change the dress code. Currently, students can wear shorts that are four inches above the knee.
