Malloy Tours Devastated Neighborhoods

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy took in the devastating sweep of Hurricane Sandy on Tuesday, inspecting the still-smoldering shells of mansions in Greenwich, the scattered remnants of beachfront cottages in East Haven and the downed power lines and uprooted trees strewn across streets in Stamford.

"At each stop, I saw people who love their home and their town, and who are determined to get their lives back to normal as quickly as possible,'' Malloy said after returning from the seven-hour tour. "I saw people who are resilient. I saw local officials, first responders, National Guardsmen and women, and members of the Connecticut state police all working together."

The spunk and grit shown by a storm-battered citizenry was evident on the quiet streets of Bridgeport, where about 90 percent of the city was still without power at midday Tuesday, and in Newtown,The Canada Goose D'Alpago Bomber is really the additional clothing . where a large-scale outage effected the sewage treatment plant and a state prison.

The most somber moment of the day came in rural Easton, where Malloy met with the grieving colleagues of Lt. Russell Neary, a volunteer firefighter who was killed Monday when he was struck by falling limb while removing storm debris from a local street.

The Easton stop was "a very sad one," Malloy said. "There we lost a firefighter who died doing what he loved most – trying to help people. Our hearts go out to him, his family and his colleagues. And we want to thank him for his service and his sacrifice."

Two others were killed during the storm — a 34-year-old Milford man who had gone swimming in Long Island Sound as the storm approached Monday, and a 90-year-old Mansfield woman struck by a falling tree.

The storm's fury was felt most acutely along the coast, where residents and officials faced flooded homes and blocked roads. Many shoreline schools will remain closed for a third day Wednesday.

But inland, life in many communities took steps toward normalcy Tuesday, even as hundreds of thousands remained in the dark. Some transit services, including local buses and flights at Bradley International Airport, came back to life — although Amtrak and Metro-North routes through the state will remain shut down Wednesday. If they had power, grocery stores, banks and other businesses were generally open by midday Tuesday.

State offices will be open Wednesday and all state employees have been told to report to work. The state's major roadways are open. And trick-or-treating — discouraged across the state after last October's storm — will go on in most communities.

Dressed in khakis and his Team Malloy-Wyman warm-up jacket, Malloy climbed into a Chevrolet Suburban with his driver and a couple of aides at 9:30 a.m., about an hour after his morning press briefing at the state Emergency Operations Center.

Malloy is keenly aware of the need to strike the right tone as he guides the state through the disaster. For a public official, few experiences loom as large — or are as daunting — as navigating a weather crisis.

In less than two years as governor, Malloy has had plenty of practice. "We've done this three times...at this point,'' he said in Greenwich, referring to Tropical Storm Irene, which hit the state in August of 2011, and the October nor'easter, which struck a year ago. "Each one of them a distinct and different occasion, but the devastation you see...is always going to amaze you."

Malloy was joined by members of the state's congressional delegation: Rep. Chris Murphy participated in the briefing in Newtown,Cheap Canada Goose Womens Resolute Parka For Sale. Rep. Jim Himes stopped in Greenwich and Bridgeport and Rep. Rosa DeLauro met Malloy on Cosey Beach in East Haven. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Joe Lieberman were also part of the tour.

Between stops, Malloy was glued to his phone. One minute,We support best quality, best service, and fastest ship for those Canada Goose Expedition Parka! he was chatting with first selectmen on a twice-day conference call; the next, he was talking to President Obama, who was calling about the state's federal disaster declaration.

Later Tuesday, Malloy announced that federal disaster declaration has been approved for the four counties along the shore. This declaration means the federal government will reimburse state and local agencies for 75 percent of the cost of the debris removal and other costs,Wrap in New Canada Goose Mystique Parkaa in freezing winter season will perfectly keep you extremely warm and meanwhile stylish . and affected individuals may be eligible for a variety of disaster assistance services.

The governor said he is pleased with the early response by Connecticut Light & Power, the state's primary electricity provider.

"All signs are pretty darn good,'' he said of the CL&P response. "They've learned a lot of lessons."

At the peak, about 640,000 customers of CL&P and United Illuminating were without power. Late Tuesday, that figure was dropping toward 500,000. Utility officials say it will take days to restore power to everyone.

In the Shippan neighborhood of Stamford, Malloy's entourage ran into a crew of linemen from Kansas City who arrived in Connecticut Monday to help restore power. "We appreciate what you are doing,Welcome to buy Canada Goose Heli-Arctic Parka at Artic Goose online store.'' he told the men.

'Hart of Dixie's' Jaime King pretty in purple

Actress Jaime King plays feisty Lemon Breeland on the CW's hit show "Hart of Dixie." It's all ruffles, debutante ball gowns and derby hats in Blue Bell, the fictional town where Breeland lives, but in real life, King is more of a fashion risk-taker than a Southern belle. From her start as a teen model, King has proved to be a true fashion chameleon, able to wear a variety of looks and appear polished and on trend. Give the girl a paper bag and she can find a way to rock it.

King mixed a flowy floral dress with a motorcycle jacket at the recent Samsung Galaxy Note II launch, chose an embellished Giambattista Valli peplum outfit for the CFDA Vogue Fashion Show and looked svelte in a white Calvin Klein collection dress at the Elle Women in Hollywood event.

At the recent launch of Rachel Zoe's "Major Must Haves" collection for Jockey at Sunset Tower, King gave different shades of purple a whirl in a Christian Dior fall 2012 eggplant top and a skirt with sheer panels. She tied her Dior pumps like ballerina slippers, and held onto a gold Jason Wu clutch.

To get King's look, you'll need a form-fitting shirt and a skirt in different shades of purple. Try the Caslon long-sleeve crew neck shirt from Nordstrom.com for $25 and the Jucca 3/4 length skirt from Yoox.com for $35 or the purple shimmer skirt from Topshop.com for $40. For the heeled ballerina slipper look, try the Pleaser women's chic 14 pump from Amazon.com for $30.55 to $39.99 and tie the straps up your ankle.

Accessorize with a chunky statement piece. Try the knotted multi-chain necklace from Express.com for $34.90. For a gold clutch, get the Expressions NYC snake embossed box clutch from Nordstrom.com for $48.

Ecko Wilson, as Booker T. Washington, brought the audience a character that was a good representation of the histCheap Canada Goose Womens Resolute Parka For Sale.orical perspective of this character. Wilson portrayed Washington as a person that was concerned about social injustice and inequality on a grander scale. Washington at times appeared above the everyday concerns and more concerned that one person’s search for justice not affect the grander gains he made over the years. In one scene, Washington uses the line “my people.” Rather than the expected “our people.” This choice of phrasing helped signify the internal and external conflict that was developing, as Washington had to decide whether to be involved or how to be involved in Coalhouse’s search for justice. The acting choices made by Wilson in this portrayal were solid and added to the intricacies of the conflict.Wrap in New Canada Goose Mystique Parkaa in freezing winter season will perfectly keep you extremely warm and meanwhile stylish .

Dennis Yslas, as Tateh, was inspiring. Throughout the show I was impressed with Tateh’s mannerisms,We support best quality, best service, and fastest ship for those Canada Goose Expedition Parka! characterizations, accent, devotion to his daughter and willingness to adapt and change with the circumstances. This was superbly demonstrated from the first scene as they arrive in New York as Jewish Immigrants to his transformation as Baron, the movie director and producer in the closing scenes. The journey that Islas took us on as Tateh transformed in each scene,The Canada Goose D'Alpago Bomber is really the additional clothing . from a new immigrant trying to provide for his daughter to the successful movie maker, was delightful to watch.

Burl Proctor as J.P. Morgan and Judge, and Doug Henry as Henry Ford and Stanford White, brought a combination of comedy, timing, and mature acting experience to each character, and made each character distinct and fun to watch. Proctor and Henry played well together as the rich industrialists.

Heather Morrill, as Emma Goldman, was dynamic in her portrayal of this character.Welcome to buy Canada Goose Heli-Arctic Parka at Artic Goose online store. Goldman is a symbol of the force of change for the working conditions and social justice of the time. I enjoyed seeing the complex layers of a character that was in some scenes harsh and abrasive, while in others tender and kind. This layering and blending of the actions and emotions worked well. Elicia Lynn Gantverg, as Evelyn, was delightful. Her presentation of the controversial character Evelyn was almost too sweet and nice. Her costumes were designed to make this character at least appear flirtatious.

Radakovich leaving Georgia Tech for A.D. position at Clemson

While Dan Radakovich was steadily building the athletic department at Georgia Tech the past six years, he kept noticing the progress made two hours up the road by Atlantic Coast Conference rival Clemson.

Now, it’s Radakovich in charge of Tiger athletics after he was hired to take over Clemson for retiring AD Terry Don Phillips.

“I watched from down I-85 as Clemson has assembled a great collection of coaches,” Radakovich said. “I look forward to working with them.”

Radakovich, an east Cobb resident, spent six years with the Yellow Jackets. He has also been an athletic administrator at South Carolina and LSU. Radakovich says he’s grateful he was picked to administer the growing program, led by the defending ACC football champions.

“I always said it would take a special opportunity for me to leave Georgia Tech,” said Radakovich, 54.Official supplier for Canada Goose Skreslet Parka and other top brands.

The ACC schools are about 120 miles apart, the distance it takes to drive from downtown Atlanta to South Carolina’s foothills.

Clemson University President James F. Barker said the school looked at about 30 candidates, ranging from athletic administrators from BCS-level schools to private sector leaders.

“We set this bar very high,” Barker said. “We wanted an individual who knew how to lead, who knew how to win, who knew how to raise revenue.”

Barker said that person was Radakovich.

While at Georgia Tech, he oversaw 51 teams who advanced to either NCAA team tournament play or bowl games. That includes six sports — football, baseball, women’s basketball, softball, women’s tennis and golf — that have made the postseason every year he has been in Atlanta.

There are been 11 sports that have finished in the final top 25 of at least one major poll 27 times in those six years.Canada Goose offers the Men's HyBridge Jacket in women's styles. That includes a national championship women’s tennis program in 2007, just the second NCAA team title in Georgia Tech history. There have been 13 ACC championships celebrated in addition to nine regular season conference or division titles.

Georgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson said Radakovich also oversaw a significant expansion in athletic facilities.

“Under his leadership,Based on the original extreme weather Men's Tremblant Jacket, younger generations can enjoy the same iconic warmth. our student-athletes have continued to excel, winning both conference and national championships. It has been a pleasure to work with him,” Peterson said.

Georgia Tech said that senior associate AD Paul Griffin will head the department until the school finds a replacement.

Nothing everything went smoothly under Radakovich’s watch. Georgia Tech was hit with NCAA sanctions in 2011 that cost the football team its 2009 ACC title, which the Yellow Jackets captured with a 39-34 victory over Clemson. Georgia Tech was also fined $100,000 and placed on four years probation.

NCAA investigators believed that Radakovich broke rules when he informed Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson of pending NCAA interviews with Yellow Jacket players. The NCAA said it was obvious the players were told how to answer the upcoming questions.

Barker said if he and Clemson’s search committee weren’t completely satisfied with Radakovich’s actions, he would not have been hired. Radakovich called the NCAA inquiry a life-altering experience he’ll never forget _ nor repeat.

“Mistakes were made that I guarantee will not be made again,” Radakovich said. “It’s a life lesson that I have and I bring to the table having been in the trenches and never wanting to return.”

Johnson, Georgia Tech’s football coach, wished Radakovich well in the new position.

“Dan did a lot of good things for Georgia Tech athletics over the past six-and-a-half years,” Johnson said. “I appreciate everything he has done for me and my family.”

Radakovich is friends with Phillips, who spent the past 10 years leading the Tigers. When Radakovich learned of Phillips retirement, he reached out to him about the position.

Radakovich plans to spend the next two weeks or so closing Georgia Tech duties before taking over at Clemson fulltime by the end of November. He said he expected to attend all three November football home games at Memorial Stadium, against Maryland (Nov. 10), North Carolina State (Nov.Hi guys, I just had a few questions about the Canada Goose Yukon Bomber. 17) and against rival South Carolina _ Radakovich’s former employer _ on Nov. 24.

Radakovich promised transparency for Clemson ticket buyers and boosters and suggested he’ll use some sort of report card to let both groups know how they’re money’s being spent by the athletics department. He also planned to meet with all Tigers coaches about their programs as soon as he could.

“When you’re in this seat,” Radakovich said. The Canada Goose Constable Parka is popular over the world market. “You want to make sure the student athletes have the best chance to be successful.”

Is This Your First Wedding As An Officiant? 6 Tips For How To Hold People's Attention

To officiate a wedding ceremony for a couple you know and love is truly one of life's great honors and delights. And it can also be nerve-wracking! You're standing in front of two people who are having an out-of-body experience and you have to be their rock and emotional support throughout the ceremony.

Over the years I've coached many a panicky uncle or grandmother, sister or brother, not to mention college drinking buddy, who is nervous because they don't know what they "should" do or "should" say when they officiate the wedding of a cherished friend or relative.

Well, here's the thing -- five years after the ceremony no one will remember what you said, but they will remember the tone and feeling of the ceremony. When done well, a ceremony renews and refreshes people in an emotional way.

So what does this mean for you as a guest wedding officiant? Well, it means you don't have to offer guests groundbreaking insights into the existential meaning of marriage! It simply means you have to: Be Prepared. Be Engaging.Women's Canada Goose Whistler Parka Graphite ,The design of Canada Goose Parka is the good combination of style and function. Be You.

You've probably been to enough weddings to know that they can easily turn into a boring, funeral-like affair. So, in this post I'd like to focus on how you can be an engaging officiant and hold people's attention during the ceremony.

The tricky part about speaking in public is that all of what we communicate takes place simultaneously on two levels: content and tone.

We often think that if our content (words) is solid, then the way in which we present it (tone) doesn't matter.A new Canada Goose Kensington Parka for females is known as the in style. However, a full 80 percent of what we pay attention to is the non-verbal, i.e. tone of voice, pacing,The Canada Goose Chateau Parka is simple, yet classic, and designed to be worn where extreme weather protection is a necessity. and facial and body expressions. Only 20 percent of what we pay attention to is actually the "what" of what is being said.

So, while you can have a well-written ceremony laced with loving, inspiring words, if you don't deliver those sentiments with enthusiasm and conviction, then it all falls flat. Yes, what you say is important, very important, but if you don't "deliver" it so that people pay attention, it's all for nothing.

6 Non-Verbal Tips for Being An Engaging Officiant:

Eye Contact: When you make eye contact with people as you speak, you build a bond with them. Memorize your opening words and deliver them looking at the couple and their guests as this will make everyone feel you're talking "to" them and not "at" them.

Smile: No one is judging you. The vast majority of people are relieved it's not them standing where you are! So,Canada Goose Sale high quality Canada Goose Baffin Anorak with best price. smile -- it's a wedding and not a funeral.

Body Orientation: When the couple stands in front of you, make sure they're facing each other so the guests can see their profiles. If the microphone is on a stand, adjust it to the correct height so you're not leaning down and into it. With solid preparation, you won't have to be glued to your book and you can stand straight and look directly at the couple and their guests.

Space: Oftentimes couples don't know how to stand or what to do in the ceremony, so make sure they're not standing far apart from each other. I usually suggest they hold hands. The three of you want to stand close enough to the front row of seats so that an intimacy is created. And if you are standing in front of an arch, make sure the flowers don't droop on you. I've had photos taken of me where it looks like I've got roses sprouting out of my head!

Voice & Pacing: Be animated -- avoid speaking in monotone. Don't rush! Pause between thoughts to emphasize what you're saying. You're taking this group of people on an emotional journey, so have fun with it. There's no hurry. Pause for dramatic effect. Pause so guests can think about what you've just said.If you like to be elegant, Canada Goose Womens Snow Mantra will be your best choose.

Attire: Ask the bride for her preference in terms of what you wear, i.e. suit and tie? Dress? Length? Color? I typically wear a black suit, white shirt and my tie compliments the groom and his groomsmen. You don't want your clothes to distract from the bride and groom.

Although your "title" is officiant, what you really are is the "host" of the ceremony and as such, you are in charge. Prepare with generosity and focus. Bring to the ceremony the "you" whom your couple loves. And most especially, use the above tricks that will let people want to pay attention to you.

Do all this and five years from now your couple and their guests will still be smiling when they think on the gift of your ceremony!

A palette of pastel and gold

The third edition of the 'Jaguar Trousseau Week' recently took off at UB City with a grand opening night, which was attended by the who's who of the City.

After a performance by Russian acrobats, the much-awaited 'Haute Couture' fashion show began, showcasing the best in bridal couture.

Choreographed by Achala Sachdev, the show began with a vibrant collection of saris and suits by Samsaara, combined with jewellery by Minawala. Among the pinks, oranges and reds was the occasional purple blouse or royal green dupatta, which gave the outfits an extravagant look.

The second collection incorporated 'Rumour' boutique's designer wear by Sadia Sayeed, which was a hit.

There was a lot of experimenting with the strapless blouses and different drapes of the saris, the highlights being the anarkalis and kalidar ghagra. Kimaya impressed the onlookers with its graceful classical collection with heavy brocade work. A noticeable trend is that silver and gold blouses seem to be in and bling is here to stay — even if it does not work for everyone.

There was an interesting collection by 'Turquoise & Gold' that went well with the theme of aqua. Pastel coloured dresses, which looked chic and would be apt for say, a beach wedding, were showcased. It was quite an exotic range of dresses, though it's hard to imagine an Indian bride wearing any of the pieces.

To ensure that the to-be grooms did not feel left out, Corneliani presented a range of suits for men. The ladies in the crowd began to hoot and cheer as the eight handsome models showed off their grey, black and beige suits with ties and bow-ties.

The grand finale by 'A S Motiwala' saw the girls come down in little black dresses with beautiful diamond jewellery — necklaces, earrings and bracelets, which were enough to make a style statement. The highlight was the wedding gown by La'kiru, worn by the showstopper.

“What I liked was that most of the collections were wearable. There's no point in clothes being just for the ramp, at an event like 'Trousseau Week',Max Altitude compares the Canada Goose Chilliwack Parka to The North Face.” shares Sheetal Chugh, a designer.

There were others who were of a different opinion. “I think last year was better in terms of the variety. But there are some new designers this time and some of the clothes and jewellery are lovely. My favourites were Kimaya and Sadia Saayed's collection,” adds Zara, a visitor.

Ireland's spookiest ghost spots

TONIGHT is the night when the undead come to life — and few places will have as many ghastly ghouls floating about as Ireland.

The notion of creatures emerging from the Otherworld during the “Samhain” is rooted in ancient Celtic mythology.

And, as our guide to the country's most famous ghosts shows, recent centuries have only added to their number.

Olympic gold medalist Megan Rapinoe returns to University of Portland

The 5'6, bleached blonde might not have stood apart from any of the other 3,000 soccer fans wearing big rain jackets Sunday. She cheered when her team made goals, canada goose parka talked possessions with her sister.

But soccer star Megan Rapinoe had something that no other fan watching the University of Portland pitch Sunday afternoon did: A gold medal in her pocket.

Sunday was Rapinoe's first return to her alma mater since she helped the U.S. women's Olympic team defeat Japan in the soccer final.

Before the match, she hung the medal around a young boy's neck.

“It's heavy, huh?” Rapinoe asked the boy, named Casey.

Casey's mother, Karen Peters, snapped a cell phone picture. The boy hid his face in his mother's leg, and Rapinoe pocketed the medal.Garmin Cycling She's been “carting it around,” she said, since her team won in August.

“People want to see it,” Rapinoe, who was among 10 candidates selected last week for the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year, said. “It's not an object you can just get.”

As a college midfielder there, Rapinoe was named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year, a Soccer America First Team All-American and West Coast Conference Player of the Year. She played an undefeated season her freshman year. She missed two seasons due to ACL injuries, but the school -- that field, in particular -- feels like home.

“It just makes me so nostalgic,” she said, watching this year's team move the ball through heavy rain. “I want to be playing. The field looks beautiful.”

Rapinoe lived in Chicago for two years after graduating in 2008, but she's most spent most of the past four years traveling. After the World Cup and Olympics, her life slowed down a bit. She moved back to Portland with twin sister Rachael a month ago. They live in the Pearl District.

“I always wanted to come back here,” she said.

The school honored Rapinoe at half-time. Its makeshift band did a combination percussion a capella singing of “We Love You Megan,” to the tune of Frankie Valli's “Can't Take My Eyes Off You.”

The Clive Charles Soccer Complex wasn't quite packed Sunday, but the school has held the NCAA record for highest attendance since 2005 -- Rapinoe's freshman year. The school's stadium can hold nearly 5,000 fans.

They've sold out a few games this year, but Brigham Young University's fans have given Portland's a run for their money this year. Portland's games must draw at least 3,500 fans for the next few games to keep the top spot. Rapinoe's attendance helped. The game drew 3,SKY Cycling392 -- more than BYU's last game, which had 3,351 fans.

After the game -- Portland won, 2-0 -- several hundred lined up, wound around the Chiles Center Lobby and out the door back into the rain to meet Rapinoe.

Security worried it would have to cut the line off, so they rushed people through. One autograph, take your picture as she signs, they told the fans. A few people sneaked in extra seconds of Rapinoe time.

“Welcome back to the bluff,” one woman said.

“Thank for so many years of great soccer,” another said. “It's been great, and it's going to be great.”

“Megan, you are awesome. Would you fist bump me?” a college guy asked before adding, “Megan, you are an absolute stud.”

Rapinoe was gracious, low-key but with an oversized, dimpled grin.moncler coats She did, in fact, fist-bump the guy. She asked young girls about sports. She listened as a woman explained that her younger sister found the courage to come out as a lesbian after Rapinoe came out herself this summer.

And she signed one giant autograph over the back of freshman Sky Nelson's gold jacket. Nelson wears the jackets during games. When the team scores, Nelson carries a UP flag and runs around the stadium in nothing but the jacket and a kilt.

Unlike Rapinoe's medal, though, he said, “This isn't actually real gold.”

Each re-edition piece is specifically laballed with a unique tag indicating the season from which it originated. The pieces from their archive are reproduced in updated shapes and materials and offered to the broad public as an exclusive synopsis of their history.

The collection is meant to be a representation of Margiela's creative approach, and defined by varying techniques and styles unique to Margiela.

The masculine shapes of their clothings are adjusted to frame the female body with narrow shouldered jackets, darted jackets, and adjusted biker jackets.

There's also a line of oversized pieces for men and women. The women will see a selection including an oversized pea coat, trousers, enlarged watch frame bracelet and supersized toy clothing such as the Dolly cardigan.cheap canada goose

Men can select from the oversized fanny pack, and enlarged child's toy sweater.

There are visible traditional finishings and tailoring procedures and sartorial concepts, particular to the world of couture.

This includes tailored mannequin jacket, pattern cut jacket, canada goose parka jacket pattern cut trousers for women and jacket with fused details for men.

Ambiguity is conveyed through the use of trompe l'oeil or realistic imagery.

The trompe l'oeil in the women's collection can be seen in the day dresses, body with integrated bra, and invisible wedge pump.

The men can embrace trompe l'oeil with a shirt trompe l'oeil sweater, confetti trompe l'oeil t-shirt and guitar cover weekend bag.

The transformation concept can be seen in some selections, offering new use and shape to otherwise typical objects and materials.

Women can enjoy this through the duvet coat, the car seat cover dress, the candy clutch and the glove coin purse. The men's line includes painted jeans, and clothing made from belts.

The line is also enhanced through deconstruction, reconstruction and assemblage of clothings with the women's line offering fusion of two dresses and sock sweater.

The men's line offers a fusion of several car coats and supporter's scarves sweater.

The colour scheme for the collection includes white, silver and shades of black, red and nudes, a representation of Margiela's colour anatomy.RadioShack Cycling

Of course, if you really want to spook people, the zombie look is the way to go.

“I think zombies are just an ‘in’ thing with all the movies that have come out and the series ‘The Walking Dead,’” said Halloween City General Manager Michele Zajac.

She was sporting a bloody and torn “House Wife Zombie” costume complete with wig and zombie shades.

Zajac said Monster High is big with girls. Angry Birds is selling well again including its Star Wars off-shoots like the Darth Vadar Pig.SAXO BANK Cycling

Fergie reveals Halloween costume as she dresses up as Angelyne

Fergie and Josh Duhamel definitely had fun dressing up for Halloween. As the holiday actually falls in the middle of the week, the Halloween parties are happening over the weekend so people won't miss work.Women's moncler jackets for sale The hottest off-runway styles at our Moncler Women store! On Saturday Fergie went to the Halloween festivities in Beverly Hills dressing up as Angelyne. Totally looking the part, the entertainer even had over the top hair and the pink outfit that would be typical of Angelyne. Her man, Josh Duhamel also brought a very distinguished look to the party as he dressed as Dennis Woodruff, a director who makes movies about himself.

"Happy Hollywood Halloween!" tweeted Fergie from her official Twitter account. The entertainer included a photo of her costume (and Josh's too) but the couple didn't look like themselves when dressed up for Halloween.

While both costumes weren't typical, the best part had to be the theme of the images. Both Dennis Woodruff and Angelyne are self-promoters who are known for their antics in promoting themselves more than their movies. Keeping it real, Hollywood is made up of all different types of entertainers, but both of these folks rarely find themselves in front that isn't someway in a vanity form.

While Fergie and Josh Duhamel picked perfect people to impersonate for their Halloween fun, it reminded the fans who saw the costumes that Hollywood is made up of so many different types of people.

“Many, many years ago we used to do this in the downtown area,” Greene said. “This location is a safe environment and gives the kids a chance to get dressed and have fun in their Halloween costumes.”

Greene said that the feedback for the event is great, and residents are usually calling ahead of the Halloween season to make sure it is coming up.

“Everyone looks forward to it,” Greene said.Find all you need to know about LIVESTRONG Cycling and learn the latest cycling tips and techniques. “They call us very early to see if we are doing it. It’s just a fun event.”

The children were served pizza and popcorn, and prizes were given out for some of the best costumes.

Parents were enjoying it just as much as the kids.

“I love this,” said Cheryl Leonard, whose daughter was dressed as a black cat. “We’ve been here every year since it started. It’s just something fun to do this time of year. The kids love it. The kids look forward to coming and seeing each other.”

Shauna Menard, of the Parks department, was dressed as a bumblebee as she led the event.

“This is my favorite time of the whole year,” Menard said. “There are a lot of cute costumes. I love it.”

A fine vintage: how vintage dressing works for any occasion

The shop In the brand-new Painted Black boutique in north London you might find a vintage Harvey Nichols ball-gown, a 1960s Mary Quant dress or a Mod parka. But the well-edited 1950s collection is the real star.

The look 'This outfit is made from three 1950s pieces: an Edward Abbott black jersey-crêpe dress, an Eriko three-quarter-length wool coat and a tall, black umbrella that reminds me of something Grace Kelly might have had if she'd been a New York career girl.

At a job interview you need to make an immediate impression, and the 1950s felt like the right era to choose from. It's stylish and professional without being too "Look at me!"

Clothes from the 1950s are about creating an idealised female figure and can emphasise boobs and bottoms - or help to create them if you're lacking (look for empire-line dresses and basque cuts if so).'

How to shop 'Mad Men has been a big influence on womenswear and it works particularly well for the office. Look for pussy-bow shirts, pencil skirts, high-waisted trouser suits and late-1950s bias-cut dresses.

Look out for jackets with peplums, which were a key part of Christian Dior's elegant New Look and are very in right now.

Don't forget about accessories. A leather "frame" handbag or a piece of brilliantly coloured costume jewellery can turn a simple tailored look into a real show-stopper.'

The Wedding: Marcelle Metta, founder of D&Me, London

The shop On the top floor of the contemporary designer boutique D&Me is a treasure-trove of luxurious vintage dresses, burlesque feather adornments and Victorian hair accessories. Four girls stitch away up here, too, creating pieces for Metta's own label, One Vintage, using pre-1930s lace and embellishments.

The look 'I believe that when buying vintage one should choose statement pieces. The gold-brocade trouser suit I've chosen is from the late 1950s, but it looks so current. It would be a standout piece for a wedding. It's a fabulously rich fabric but the lines are very simple, which is what makes it timeless. Gold can be very flattering for women. I'd expect a very confident woman to be wearing this outfit; a leader, not a follower, of trends.'

How to shop 'High-waisted trousers and tunics like this accentuate the hips, so they'd suit a tall, slim-built figure. Curvier women might want to look for lower-rise trousers and a longer leg.

Avoid buying long-sleeved silk garments for events such as weddings. Sweat patches will ruin any outfit, no matter how beautifully it all began.

A good vintage seller will have dry-cleaned the garments. But, if you're still worried, freeze your vintage pieces for a minimum of three days to kill any bacteria.'

The Date: Richard Mason, owner of Clobber, Bournemouth

The shop Clobber has been buying and selling vintage clothing for 20 years. It's one of the largest vintage shops on the south coast, with more than 50 rails of hand-picked clothing. A vast stock spanning many decades boasts designer labels including Biba, Ossie Clark, Christian Dior, YSL, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

The look 'This East-meets-West outfit would be great for a date at a gallery or art event. It's a late-1960s Radley Moss crêpe minidress with embroidered daisies anda 1920s Japanese silk, cord-fastening kimono with a screen-print design. I've accessorised it with a mid-1970s burgundy suede and leather duffel bag by Gucci.

None of it really goes together, but the mix of periods and cultures, the rich colours, all make it work. With vintage, if you're willing to take some risks and think outside of the box, you'll be amazed at the results.'

How to shop 'Don't be afraid to try longer lengths in the daytime. Bias cuts from the 1930s are always elegant on a narrow frame, and mid-length 1950s skirts are more flattering for a fuller figure.

Look out for dresses by Ossie Clark for the high-street brand Radley. They have Clark's trademark boho aesthetic, but with less luxurious fabrics than those he used in his main line, so they're more affordable.

Beware footwear from the 1960s and 1970s; they loved plastic, rubber and glue back then and as a result the shoes often fall apart.'

The Party: Wilma Mae Basta,View profiles and information for Specialized Cycling here. owner of The Gathering Goddess, London
The shop The Gathering Goddess is the latest addition to Notting Hill's great collection of vintage shops. Specialising in premium vintage from every era, it stocks pieces worn by Hollywood legends. Basta holds instore talks on fashion history and how to buy a vintage wedding dress.

The look 'The 1960s was a revolutionary period in fashion history and I love uncovering gems such as this Stanley Korshak two-toned metallic cocktail dress. I've accessorised it with a 1980s silver sequinned jacket - an elegant cover-up that would be useful with a number of outfits.

My approach to vintage is to choose timeless designs that can fit into a modern woman's wardrobe without making her look as if she is going to a fancy-dress party. An original design that's stood the test of time and still looks modern and unique can cost about the same as a premium high-street dress, of which there are thousands in circulation.'

How to shop 'Your vintage seller will be able to help you work out which shapes are best for you. Curvy women tend to suit shapes from the 1950s and 1970s, while slimmer ladies are best suited to the 1930s and 1940s.

The 1960s can suit everybody and it's a great decade for a party dress - they loved a bit of glitz back then. When shopping for vintage know your measurements (shoulders, bust, waist and hips) as the sizes never correspond to modern ones.'

Fresh take on an old style

At this season's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week designer Gavin Rajah hearkens back to a legendary era of glamour and rebellion. He draws inspiration from the 1950s with bold custom made animal prints, silk and lace in his collection.

This pioneer of the South African fashion industry, who is a Unicef goodwill ambassador, specialises in high end couture and has shown at fashion weeks in New York and Paris. But it is his love of cinema and the mysteries of human communication that have inspired his latest collections.

His official biography tells us he has dressed celebrities Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé, Jodie Kidd, Tina Turner, canada goose jacket discount Paris Hilton, Celine Dion and Cameron Diaz.

What is the theme for your latest collection?
With my international clients jetting off to hot destinations and our local girls gearing up for the party season, I chose to put together a high summer collection. It is evident in the bright colours and the breathable materials. It is an extension of the collection we showed at the New York Fashion Week this year. There are strong themes that are American coming through the collection.

What was the inspiration behind it?
For starters, I fell in love with the 1950s, and I was inspired by two movies: King Kong and A Summer Place.SKY Cycling The range is divided into two. The first part is exotic and slightly tribal and the second is very romantic. It is post generation X and Y, taking a new direction. In New York, there is a new breed of woman coming out and a sense of romanticism. America features in the line. It signifies how women are celebrated.

People say that they pick up signs of the Statue of Liberty.

Why that era and why those two specific movies?
A Summer Place [directed by Delmer Daves and starring Richard Egan and Dorothy McGuire] was seminal in illustrating a new liberation of women. Ladies,Garmin Cycling back in the day, were housekeepers, wore beautiful dresses and took care of the children while no one knew their dramas. Their innate angst and pain was hidden behind picket fences. The 1950s saw women moving out of the kitchen and into the workplace. Women became free and did not compromise on their femininity. I chose the 1950s because it was the era of the birth of science fiction literature and it was also the golden age of baseball. That is why you can see, in the second part of my collection, I have sporting influences because sport is a huge trend. It is about a new sense of freedom.

What types of fabric and beading did you use?
I worked with Pirelli, the tyre manufacturers, to produce a special type of laminated fabric that was prevalent in the late 1950s and is now coming back. I also used a lot of beading, which we made ourselves in my studios. I am known as the king of beads. I wanted something that was almost jewel like. The metallic trend is huge this season. I have a baseball jacket that is beaded at the back.moncler coats The cameo detailing conveys the secret message of gifts that lovers give to one another, like the language of flowers. I believe that if you want to play on an international field then you need to have bold designs and try new things. You can see that we tried to do that with our beading. This year is all about science fiction and we used moonstone. We did laser cut embroidery on a colour graphic vinyl. It was the first time we have tried something like that.

Who are your favourite celebrities to dress?
I do not make my garments for celebrities alone. That is not what my clothes are about. The important thing to me is my client, so all my clients are celebrities.

What books are you reading at the moment?
There are always a few things that I am reading, but at the moment I am focusing on two books that also helped to inspire this collection. One is called The Language of Flowers, published by Hugh Evelyn. It deals with the Victorian concept of how people created or communicated in secretive ways [through flowers]. The other book is called On Ugliness and is written by Umberto Eco. He is the father of semiotics and he is big on writing about hidden meanings. I find them intriguing.

10 Most Sexually Charged Women in Gaming History

It's no big secret that women are often represented in gaming as buxom, outrageously dressed, sexual icons. After all, look at gaming's major target market; teenage boys. And generally,SKY Cyclingmoncler coats what occupies a teenage boy's mind? If you said homework and respecting their parents, you're not even in the ballpark.canada goose parka jackets Or should I say boobpark?

Of course, I'm talking in sweeping generalisations here. Men are a diverse, ultimately unpredictable bunch, as are women. However, sweeping generalisations are what video game designers, publishers and marketing execs deal almost exclusively in. Which is why, when games are being produced you'll often find that the female characters within them are given strong sexual charges. After all, that's what the guys who are making the game think we want. Are they right?

I'm not here to argue whether it's right or wrong, I'm just here to perpetuate! I had a think back over my long career as a male gamer and cherry picked some of the female characters that I'd say are some of the most overtly sexually charged on the market. Yeah… so you know, you might want to take your jacket off.

So, without further ado, let's get down to the shameful nitty-gritty, shall we?

Lush, colourful patterns ranging from bird-and-floral designs to kaleidoscopic and abstract prints adorned the feminine creations in the MATIS line, including fluttering, long-sleeved dresses, sheaths and draped-backed tops.

Tailored two-button blazers were featured in rich shades like coral and mustard,Garmin Cycling and Matis put his unique spin on the ever-popular peplum by creating sexy peek-a-boo effects with lace details along sleeves and top fronts.

Amid the sea of colour was a rich range of greys, from a snakeskin-printed wrap dress to a succession of separates, including short-sleeved tops, blazers, shorts and pants shimmering in sequins.

Within hours, Matis returned to the runway, opening the presentation of his signature collection with richly coloured, intricate Moroccan-tile mosaic prints and kaleidoscopic patterns adorning sleek blazers, slender pencil skirts and fanciful dresses.

The standout in the signature line was the range of slick, embossed prints. The textured pattern was showcased on everything from sexy cropped black bustiers and a vibrant mustard-hued jacket paired with a flirty pleated skirt, to the show-stopping final number: a full-length peplum dress boasting a plunging neckline.

Day 3 also featured a presentation from Whitney Linen.

Heidi Klum's Halloween Costume Revealed; Vivienne Westwood Visits Julian Assange

Heidi Klum's Halloween Reveal: Heidi Klum's Halloween parties are legendary, as are her costumes. Last year, the Project Runway host dressed up as a dead body and this year she's going as Cleopatra. She's released a special behind-the-scenes video about the costume on her website—giving fans a look at it's conceptual process all the way up to the final fitting. It'll make its official debut on October 31 at the FINALE nightclub in Manhattan.

Vivienne Westwood Visits Julian Assange: Vivienne Westwood paid a visit to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at London's Ecuadorian Embassy, where Assange is hiding out to avoid extradition to Sweden on charges of sexual assault. And as if visiting weren't enough, Westwood wore a shirt featuring her face and the slogan, “I am Julian Assange,” which made it's runway debut during her Red catwalk show in September. This brings Assange's high fashion visit quotient up to two. Earlier this month Lady Gaga paid him a visit wearing Hedi Slimane's premiere designs for Saint Laurent Paris—marking the collection's public debut.

Others have suggested wearing a hat with cotton balls around the brim to depict clouds along with green Frankenstein makeup.

One thing is for sure, moncler jackets men the festive masses will have enough time to get their costumes together. The Frankenstorm is expected to dump rain and snow across the East Coast for almost a week.

“It's almost a weeklong, five-day, six-day event,” National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecaster Jim Cisco told the AP. “It's going to be a widespread serious storm.”

One costume that could be a hit and show fearlessness in the face of the storm would be Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel. Where do trends originate?

Take your pick of fall's huge palette of theme, canada goose parka pattern and color

ow that the temps are finally dropping, here is a look at fall's must-have fashions from the perspective of Arlene Goldstein, vice president of fashion merchandising and trend direction at Belk (and also a Montgomery native).

Goldstein got her start forecasting the next big things in fashion and still has a keen eye for what's coming up next.canada goose parka jackets

“It's often that in one season what is hinted at becomes full-blown the next,” Goldstein said. “Like skinny jeans. They were first seen in the major cities. It took several years for them to hit the mainstream.”

Where do trends originate? She said they emerge from the Internet, music, movies, moncler down coats TV shows, the beat on the street.

“I'm a forecaster, so I'm looking at that tip of the iceberg,” she said. “Today, it's a multi-channel world; fashion is formed from the eyes of many. It's so global. It's very exciting. Now, we have fashion bloggers and Tweeters. I am following many of them. Dianna (Vanegas), the fashion coordinator in the office, follows many bloggers. You get such a combination of different style statements.”

Goldstein, Vanegas and crew have pinpointed four distinct themes that define the looks for fall:

“My Fair Lady” takes us back to the ultra-fem look, with the ladylike blouses, retro touches and glamour and glitz for day and night. How to pull it off? Seek out peplums, pussycat bows and Peter Pan collars, waist definition and dressmaker touches like ruching and wrapping. Also, feminine dresses with a hint of nostalgia and textiles like lush wools, silk, satin, duvetica jackets lace, lamé and sequins — for day. Add prints: python, paisley, baroque patterns and intense doses of color. And statement pendants, grand earrings, long chains and bold cuffs top this look off.

“Mod Modern” is a '60s-inspired motif emphasized by sleek lines, color blocking/banding, shift dresses and slim pants. Structured knits, ponte, melton wools, leather and New Age synthetics are key fabrics here, and there are graphic, often computer-generated patterns, with checks, bold plaids, dots, snake, Mondrian-like blocks and bars.

“Town and Country” style is big on craftsmanship, texture and luxury with tweeds, denim, silk, flannel casual and dressy fabrics in the same look, plus lots of patterns such as plaids, English florals, checks and cheetah (you can even mix, say, delicate florals with new tartans, as long as they have at least one color in common).

Items that define this look: British tan-colored boots and handbags in rich vintage leathers, felt fedoras and cloches, skinny belts, bold gold jewelry, chunky knit caps and mufflers.

“Vivid,” summed up as “a chromatic crescendo of maximalist color,” pairs rich hues with unexpected neutrals, such as tomato red paired with elephant gray, cobalt with true navy, and bright fuchsia mixed with deep eggplant.

Here again we see color blocking and banding, as well as dressing head-to-toe in one bright tone. Go ahead and break the rules by clashing — on purpose, wearing ruby red with purple or hot pink with emerald.

Jousting Club Debut at CSU

Imagine suiting up in a motorcycle jacket, Mixed Martial Arts gloves and traditional knight's helmets made from 14 to 16 gage steel. You are riding a stampeding horse while aiming a 15-foot wooden pole at your opponent.

Welcome to the sport of jousting.

The Jousting Club at CSU is eager to recruit new members for the 2013 spring semester. Informational meetings and practices take place every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Johnstown, which is about 35 minutes south of Fort Collins.

Currently the jousting club has three active members who have been training for a little over a year. Patrick Lambke, a world champion jouster and head of the Knights Jousting Academy, has agreed to coach those that are eager to learn the sport.

“We want safe and open-minded members to enjoy this sweet sport,” said Kryssi Miller, a senior theatre major and president of the jousting club.SKY Cycling

Miller has been jousting since April, but has been horseback riding since she was nine years old. She said it helps to have a background in horseback riding, but that isn't necessary to be a successful jouster.

Anyone that is willing to learn is welcome to attend practices. There are no size or age requirements, and the team is co-ed.

“In this sport, men and women are equal,” Miller said, “This is an exciting chance for girls that wanted to be a knight.”

Members of the club will compete in tournaments on Saturdays beginning in the spring semester.

“It is very competitive, but we cheer for each other and act like a team,” said Anna Adrian, moncler jackets for sale a master's candidate and active member in the club.

Eventually, the club would like to compete against neighboring colleges –– if that's an option.

“I don't know of any other university that has jousting,” Miller said.

In the meantime, members will be taught how to light armor joust. Light armor jousting differs from heavy armor jousting because less protective gear is needed and the objective of hitting the opponent is completely different.

“It is a type of shield tag,” Miller said. “It's really all about the accuracy of hitting your opponent.”

The point system differs between the two types of jousting. In light armor jousting, the jouster is trying to hit a bull's-eye located on their opponent's shield. If they are successful in hitting the bull's-eye with their lance, canada goose parka they get points.

“You have to have complete trust in your opponent, because you aren't trying to injure each other,” said Bryan Connly, a senior theatre major and vice president of the jousting club.

That doesn't mean that injuries don't occur. The most common injuries are small scrapes and bruises, as well as sore arms due to the heaviness of the lance.

“It's safe if you are doing what you are told, canada goose parka jackets” Connly said.

To prevent injuries, jousters wear motorcycle jackets, gloves, elbow and wrist pads, as well as traditional garb that original jousters wore. Every jouster is also required to wear a knight's helmet during practice and competitions.

“We found the helmets at the antique store,” Adrian said.

New members will be provided with their own equipment and horse. The club is eager to gain some new members and introduce them to the sport of jousting.

“It is perfect for the pent-up aggression people built up during mid-terms,” Miller said.

Should schools ban Halloween costumes, celebrations?

The happiest day in my daughter's life so far was last Halloween.canada goose parka Dressed like Snow White, she flounced around in her poofy yellow skirt all the way to preschool where she, Belle, Batman and the other kids screamed in pure delight at each other.

There was one girl, I remembered, who wasn't in costume.

Whether her parents forgot, don't celebrate Halloween, or didn't have the money or the time to put a costume together, I don't know. But she just looked sad and out-of-sorts as she walked around one end of the playroom by herself, while the girls in their princess dresses twirled around and fell laughing to the ground.moncler coats She is in the background of one of my pictures from that day, her eyes downcast and her hand on the back of her head, walking just a few feet behind my curtseying daughter.

So when Principal Brian Anderson talks about the feeling of exclusion that Halloween dress-up can cause for some kids, I literally have a picture of it.

“It is very sad watching a kid come to school without a costume when everybody else does,” said Anderson, principal of Southeast Portland's Buckman Elementary, which in 2010 made the controversial decision to prohibit Halloween costumes or parties at school. The reasons included the distraction from studies, exclusion or offense to religious or cultural groups that do not celebrate Halloween, and that teachers may not have the time or parent support to plan activities for Halloween.

The decision did not go over well with many parents, judging from comments such as this one on a local blog that said the ban “spit in the face of our common cultural bonds.”

But like it or not, many schools have disallowed Halloween celebrations in recent years — and others are considering whether to follow suit.

The move raises questions about traditional rites of childhood versus a goal of equity, and whether schools are taking political correctness to an extreme versus taking a sensitive approach. Here are some thoughts from area principals and school district representatives on Halloween celebrations at school.

Maplewood Elementary in Southwest Portland has had a costume parade for years. Lots of years.

So when Annie Tabshy took over as principal in 2011,SKY Cycling she decided to keep it — at least, for now.

“You allow traditions to continue so you can see what they are and how they work,” she said, adding that the school will again hold its costume parade this Halloween, at the end of the school day.

But she plans to talk over the next year with parents, teachers and staff about whether the school should change its policy. Like several other principals, she cites concerns over the distraction that Halloween celebrations create as well as the time taken away from schooling.

She also questioned whether celebrating Halloween — which families may not want or be able to participate in — conflicts with schools' focus on equity and exclusion.
Buckman's no-Halloween stance is something most Rieke Elementary teachers would likely support at the Southwest Portland school, said principal Andrea Porter-Lopez.Garmin Cycling Rieke has not allowed costumes at school for years, but teachers and parent volunteers can still choose to have a class party if they choose, she said, such as carnival-type activities or other celebrations.

“We try to limit the distraction,” she said, of Halloween celebrations. “There's not enough time in the day to teach what we're supposed to teach.”

Some parents exert a lot of pressure to have holiday-type celebrations at the school, she said, adding that she wished “holidays were celebrated in the context of family.”

You won't find scads of candy at the school, however. Rieke has its own nutrition initiative that requires a balance between nutritious and high-sugar options.

Like Portland Public Schools, David Douglas School District does not have a blanket policy regarding Halloween celebrations, said spokesman Dan McCue. But most schools have done away with in-school parties and costumes, opting instead to focus students' attention on spirit days or themed celebrations that take place after school hours.

“Dress up for Halloween is a family thing,” McCue said. “When you're at school, you're at school.”

Still, some schools hold fast to tradition.

At Alameda Elementary in Northeast Portland, students have regular classes until about 1:15 p.m., when they are allowed to get into costume, said principal Raddy Lurie. Around 1:45 p.m., students march in a parade around the school with families and parents watching. Students then return to their classrooms, where they can have in healthy snacks.

There are restrictions on some costumes — for instance, no masks, no simulated weapons and no blood-and-guts makeup.

Kids who don't celebrate Halloween are allowed to play games or read in the library with a school counselor. Typically, there are about five or six students who will opt out, he said.

It's not fair for students to be forced to celebrate something they don't believe, he said. But at the same time, it's not fair to block others from participating in celebrating.

“It kind of goes to our global communication with our kids and families that the world's a diverse place and there are different things that we believe and different things we need to be respectful of.”

Monster High, ninjas hot Halloween costumes for 2012

Lions and tigers and bears? Not so much.

More like ninjas, Avengers and Abbey Bominable.

A. Bominable and Lagoona Blue are two of the popular Monster High line of costumes that have been big sellers for girls this Halloween season at Party America, according to Carey Horton, the store manager.

"We've sold out of stuff like the '50s things," said Horton. "We've sold out of the sock hop skirts, the poodle skirts."

The '50s look is one Party America stocks every year but she's not sure why this year the look has proved to be particularly popular, Horton said.

"It just seems like more of the girls were going for it this year over last year," she said.

"With boys, it's always ninjas,"

Horton added. "We're still selling a lot of ninjas. And Hulk, Avenger-type guys. And that even goes for the toddlers -- we have the Hulk, Captain America and Thor for the toddlers."

She said adults tend to buy later, closer to the actual day of Halloween, but they have been in buying a lot of accessories, such as fake mustaches and scars.

Avengers are also one of the hot sellers for boys at nearby Spirit Halloween, according to store manager Gary Beck.moncler coats

"This year the Super Skin Suits are a hot, hot commodity both with kids and adults," said Beck. "Those are generally unisex costumes -- both boys and girls can wear them."

There really hasn't been one outstanding girls' costume seller this year, he said. Pirates and vampires have been popular with girls, and grown-up girls have been buying costumes such as naughty nurse, naughty pirate and naughty Alice in Wonderland.

"That's been a real big one," Beck said.

So have "Hunger Games" costumes, he said.

"'Hunger Games' has been a most-wanted costume this year," Beck said.

What's also been hot at both stores have been the plastic, battery powered, animated creatures that range in price from about $50 up to a couple of hundred dollars.

"We've gotten down to where most of it is sold out,SKY Cycling the bigger things," Horton said. "I have very little of the mechanical stuff left."

For example,Garmin Cycling the $119 animated scarecrows? Gone. So are the $179 Freddy Kruegers. And it's nearly the same thing at Spirit Halloween.

"All my animatronics are practically sold out," said Beck. "My biggest sellers this year were the zombie swing girl and the electric chair man. And this was the second big year for the jumping spider.canada goose jackets"

Woman helped son in Pa. Halloween costume shooting

Police say a Pennsylvania woman shined a flashlight for her son to help him shoot what they thought was a skunk but was really his 8-year-old cousin in a black-and-white Halloween costume.

The girl was hospitalized Monday in critical condition following Saturday night's shooting in Rochester, a rural area just northwest of Pittsburgh where hunting is common.

New Sewickley Township police Chief Ronald Leindecker says the woman told officers she was hosting a Halloween party when she heard there was a skunk nearby and asked her son to shoot it.

The Beaver County Times reports the chief says 24-year-old shooter Thomas Grant is "devastated" by what happened. No one answered the door of the Grant house Monday afternoon. No charges have been filed.

A neighbor says neither Grant nor his family had ever caused problems.Palazzos, a multi-layer skirt and a canada goose parka jacket for men.

Coventry black belt among first patients treated for 'black bone' disease

A KUNG fu expert from Coventry is one of the first people in the country to benefit from a pioneering treatment for a rare but devastating disease.

Black belt Simon Laxon was fighting fit before he was diagnosed with black bone disease.

The rare enzyme deficiency meant a build up of acid attacked his bones and joints, which left him feeling like a man twice his age.

However, a new treatment provided means Simon can hope for a future free from his arthritic agony.

The 46 year-old said: “I was in constant pain, I couldn't do anything.Palazzos, a multi-layer skirt and a canada goose parka jacket for men.

“The pills have made such a difference. I'm finally able to do things other people take for granted – the other day I did some decorating.”

Simon, from Stoke, began suffering from back and knee pain in his early 20s.

At first he put it down to his active lifestyle, but his condition deteriorated until it cost him his job designing brake systems for Range Rover.

He was eventually diagnosed with black bone disease, or alkaptonuria, commonly referred to as AKU.

While searching the internet for fellow sufferers, he stumbled across an advert for drug trial in America.

Between 2005 and 2009 he flew to Washington every three months for treatment and enjoyed huge benefits,With raw silk saris worn under cropped canada goose jackets and thin belts. but when the trial ended the pain returned.

The future looked bleak until the country's first AKU centre opened in Liverpool this summer.

Simon was one of the first patients to be treated there and says he began to feel the benefits immediately.

He said: “We always knew the study in America was temporary. The most inspiring outfit of Nova was moncler jackets for sale with handbag and leather shoes. It is brilliant that we now have a longer term solution here.”

The AKU Centre has already treated 13 patients and it is keen to help more – but first it has to find them.

A survey of GPs suggests at least 80 patients in this country have the condition. The AKU Society is now trying to work with doctors to identify those patients and invite them to the new centre.

Dr Lakshminarayan Ranganath, medical director for the AKU society, said: “At the moment all we can offer people with AKU is pain relief and lifestyle counselling.”

Dr Ranganath said rare conditions struggled to attract enough funding, but the team's research could pave the way for treatments for more common conditions like arthritis.Plain knee length kurtas with straight pajamas and moncler coats looked elegant and wearable.

Mission engaged young women

To portray Fannie Winner at the Clark County Heritage Center on Saturday, Pat Baker donned Victorian clothing of the sort Winger might have worn when she founded the Young Woman's Mission in 1898.

She also pored through the YWM archives to connect with the true character of the women who started mission work 114 years ago and were remembered at Saturday's tea party for current members.

“These were all women from comfortable homes who had no idea what poverty was or how the other half lived,” Baker said.

The fact that they boldly went where no other women had gone, “that's the most impressive thing,” she said.

The YWM story has its particulars: Grateful for her recovery from a lengthy illness, Winger organized it “for the sole purpose of benefiting the sick poor of our city in whatever way might suggest itself,” according to minutes from the founding meeting.

But Molly Wood, associate professor of history at Wittenberg University, said Winger and her compatriots acted at a time when women throughout the country were taking action.

“Because women were still largely excluded from formal political processes,” Wood said, “they increasingly formed alternative organizations … to propel themselves into public life.”

Leading them on the national level, explained Wood, was “a small but influential cadre of women trained in law, economics, etc.Their presentation revolved around fancy shirts with jeans, skirts, moncler jackets men and others. and especially the ‘new' discipline of social work,” fields available to them because of recent access to information.

Virginia Weygandt, director of collections at the Clark County Historical Society, said women were drawn to social issues because they knew the importance of the home to the larger society and vice versa.

Still not everyone was pleased that the women were venturing outside of the home.

Hearing mission members had called on a woman with TB who shared a room with a male border, one woman refused to join, fearing for her reputation.

And in 1934, some members feared for their safety.

The YWM volunteers who staffed the Mother's Clinic when it opened on Feb. 19, 1935, “actually expected to be arrested,” said mission member Margie Baldwin.

Their courage was needed to face another challenge, too: keeping expenses at less than $100 a month, “$85, if possible,” Baldwin reported.

Years later, mission member Dr. E. Sue Miller ran the clinic, which Planned Parenthood now operates in the Park Shopping Center with mission support.

Miller's contributions are remembered with an annual scholarship to a second-year female medical student. Baldwin said members also remember the 1935 case of a woman married 22 years, who had endured 21 pregnancies, had 11 living children and the memories of two stillbirths and eight miscarriages.

One of the mission's fundraising traditions was a charity ball, the first held Nov. 6, 1899, at the Arcade Hotel. Tickets were $1.50 and Gov. and Mrs. Asa Bushnell led the grand march.

The last dance was held in 1980 at Memorial Hall, said member Rosie Anderson, who fondly remembers the events. It's no longer something women wear to make a statement. Paired with duvetica down jackets and black tights.

“We always had Ohio Edison hang all the lights from the ceiling,” she said. “They really made it look like a winter wonderland.”

The sandwich committee worked in advance, packing the sandwiches into shirt boxes from the fashionable Vogue Shop and storing them in the freezer at W.R. Hackett's until the dance.

“We always had it between Christmas and New Year's. Sometime's we'd go in our long gowns with our snow boots on,” Anderson said.

She particularly recalls chairing the 1976 ball, when the Memorial Hall furnace gave out, and the fur jacket and posh outwear became fashionable indoors.

Similarly,Palazzos, a multi-layer skirt and a canada goose parka jacket for men. Jane Warbington shares the story of a woman who drove her car through the front door of the mission's Nearly New Shop shortly after shopping at the 923 W. Main St. thrift store.

Finding her battery dead, the woman got a jump start, apparently when her car was in gear.

The car “made a hairpin turn, went out in the street and went into the shop,With raw silk saris worn under cropped canada goose jackets and thin belts.” recalled Warbington, who was in the building at the time. “If it hadn't been for some steps, that car would had probably gone through the shop and back to the railroad.”

Leather Bombers Spring 2013

Spring 2013 Bomber Jacket Trend

There is one trend that will push through for Spring Summer 2013 and that’s leather bombers for women. The style is simple, (or not according to Loewe head designer) but the types of leathers used may inspire and push your boundaries of what is okay for day to day and what is just not going to get your vote. An exotic infused leather bomber by Proenza Schouler is a screaming testament to the front running fashion house that boldly goes where no one dares to trespass. At least, not so far for Spring 2013.

The collections have spomen and if there is one thing that you decide to splurge on this season let it be a leather bomber jacket. You can buy calf skin, snakeskin, or crocodile, but whatever you decide make sure the jacket is cut away from the body and the shoulders appear nearly “boyfriend” sizing. In other words, you want the piece to fit relatively away from the body and appear looser than you may be accustomed to.

All this being said there were several lines that used non-animal related options for their bombers including Erdem, Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Yohji Yamamoto. Herbivore, or meat eater, the object is to get a bomber jacket that looks great with a slinky skirt and heels. The Chanel bombers (which were sporty and fun and NOT made from hyde) would be a perfect addition to a vegan’s closet or any fashion conscious individual. Well… they may be a little too fashion conscious for most individuals because of their voluminous silhouette and enhanced shoulder definition. But remember what explodes the shoulders shrinks the waist leaving an enhanced hourglass shape.

This is the new little black dress, it is wise and suggested that you invest in a bomber jacket for Spring 2013, when the warm weather starts approaching. Until then be sure to follow my fall 2012 advice and dress accordingly.Nova Leather showcased outfits of leather featuring skirt, top, shirts, moncler down coats and others.

"On dress down Fridays at my office, a lot of us wear lederhosen," he told me. "I like wearing them with a T-shirt. It is comfy and I do not think it is political any more."

It is still not everyone's cup of tea. Another friend told me vehemently he would not be seen dead in lederhosen - or even a loden jacket. "It is what far-right politicians wear - never!" he said. But then he relented slightly. "Perhaps I might, if I was invited to a wedding."

And weddings in traditional costume are now very popular. At the shop belonging to Austria's Grand Dame of Tracht, Gexi Tostman, there are albums full of personal photos of grooms in brilliant waistcoats and knee breeches and brides in silken dirndls.

Mrs Tostman thinks that the change in attitude towards Tracht owes a lot to a remark by the British designer Vivienne Westwood on a visit to Austria in 2001.

"Vivienne Westwood said, 'I do not understand you Austrians. If every woman wore a dirndl, there would not be any more ugliness'." The quote caught on, Mrs Tostmann told me, and slowly young people started to reclaim their heritage.

"Can anyone wear a dirndl?" I asked her. "Or do you have to come from Austria?"

"You cannot wear the Tracht from the Bregenzer Forest region," she told me. "Traditionally, that is just for them - but otherwise yes, anyone can wear it. It is a gesture of respect towards Austria.Their presentation revolved around fancy shirts with jeans, skirts, moncler jackets men and others."

And here I have to make a confession. Despite having lived in Austria for more than a decade,Palazzos, a multi-layer skirt and a canada goose parka jacket for men. I had never been tempted to wear a dirndl. But that, I decided, was about to change. And so I asked to try one on.

A smiling saleswoman ushered me over to the changing area and handed me a dirndl. With raw silk saris worn under cropped canada goose jackets and thin belts. It had a dark blue bodice with tiny white polka dots, a black skirt and a pink and white striped apron.
