Judge Norah tells men to try harder in Leopardstown fashion stakes

SHE'S given up one judging job for another – and the women are beating the men hands down.

Former 'Dragons' Den' judge Norah Casey joined designer Heidi Higgins and Galway-born milliner Mark T Burke on the judging panel at Leopardstown to find the most stylish man and woman. The world centre of LIVESTRONG Cycling.

Over 170 people registered to take part in the fashion event at the famous Lexus Chase day at the Christmas racing festival.

The 'Harmonia' publisher told the Irish Independent she was in search of a classic, comfortable look,The Men's Canada Goose Expedition Parka is the stylish choose for you're to wear when you are walk on the city streets. with the winner appropriately kitted out for the winter weather – but she said the men needed to pull up their socks.

"We had a lot of new faces. The lads could've tried a lot harder, though," she said. Most people only dream of owning a prada bags.

Ms Casey said she was delighted to put on her racing attire for a day out. It was a nice distraction for the mother of one, who is gearing up to spend a second New Year's Eve without her late husband, Richard Hannaford. A former journalist, Mr Hannaford passed away in October 2011.

"New Year's Eve is actually mine and Richard's wedding anniversary, so I'm not going to sit around at home, I've decided to go out and spend it with a group of friends," she said.

Ms Casey and her fellow judges crowned Geraldine Walsh, from Kinsale, Co Cork, as the Best Dressed Lady.

The mother of four wore a six-year-old cream coat, accessories from Penneys and an orange hat ,which she bought at a vintage boutique in Cork.

Her prize included a feature photoshoot in 'Irish Tatler' magazine and a getaway to Mount Juliet. "I can't believe I won; it was my first time to Leopardstown and my mum and I decided to come up the last minute."

Taking home the Best Dressed Man title was Matt McKenzie-Smith, from Newbridge, Co Kildare.

The 36-year-old wore a tweed jacket from Penneys, a Louis Copeland shirt and brown leather shoes purchased in South Africa.

"I just threw the outfit together, I wasn't intending on entering the competition," he said.

"I was talent-spotted in the crowd. It's brilliant to win it."

His sister Katie Walsh congratulated her older sibling.

"It's a good day's racing, I'm delighted for him. The whole day is exciting, it's a great place for racing," she said.

Dick Armey's Golden Parachute and other observat

Thar's a new sheriff in town and he's a Dick! Dick Armey that is, the former Republican House Majority Leader and major mouthpiece (and manipulator) of the (alleged to be) grassroots Tea Party.

Recently it was reported Armey quit his job as the kingpin of his Tea Party group,Offer hermes handbags, hermes kelly and many other styles. FreedomWorks. He got an eight million dollar golden shower … err … parachute as his exit kiss. The money came from FreedomWorks donor and founder of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Richard J. Stephenson. Don't really know about Armey and golden showers, but what the hell, let's start a rumor.Shop the latest christian louboutin boots handpicked by a global community of independent trendsetters and stylists.

As reported in the Washington Post,2012 has been an amazing year for SAXO BANK Cycling have been some of the best ever! Armey marched into the offices of FreedomWorks with an armed assistant, Beau Singleton, a retired Capital Police officer, and forced two employees of FreedomWorks, Matt Kibbe and Adam Brandon out of the building, apparently under threat of getting shot. Why else would you bring an armed man to a pissing contest? That's the threat. It says, “This man has a gun and he will use it if I tell him to.”

Please don't try to argue it means anything but that.

It's like drug dealers. They go someplace to close a deal. Most of the participants are armed, but the dealers bring along these scary looking guys who have Mac-10's or Glock 9's under their jackets ready for use. It's really quite impressive when some short, fat … guy … let's say, walks into the men's room of the Landmark Lanes — as a totally random example — to meet another guy of equally questionable fashion sense and moral character and each one of these guys has two “body guarFind RadioShack Cycling and running devices, heart rate monitors .ds” in tow.Welcome to SKY Cycling, we supply most popular and valuable wholesale products. The bodyguards stand there looking menacing as the two principles conclude their business.

It's impressive if you put aside your fear of what could happen if someone sneezes wrong or the guy taking a dump in the stall — who no one knew was there — flushes the toilet unexpectedly. Seriously, when that toilet flushes the safeties get switched to the “off” position and the fingers are resting on the trigger guards. Instantly. It's impressive.

Much as it must have been impressive last September when Dick Armey marched into FreedomWorks with his armed guard and told the people who pissed him off to, “Get the [expletive deleted] out!”

The Baltimore Post-Examiner's rules of decorum prevent me from using the verbiage that is more appropriate, but this is an upstanding news outlet and they have standards. I'm OK wit dat.

So what would you do if you were working away taking the hard-earned money of Teabaggers everywhere and the sorta boss walks in with an armed man who looks like he might have been a member of the Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC) at one time and tells you, “You're fired! Get out!”

You'd look at the armed guy and then gather up your things and leave. Or, you'd start crying uncontrollably, which is what four of the people working for FreedomWorks did. Apparently the crying won over Armey who said they could stay.

The two guys who were marched out at threat of gunpoint came back, Armey was forced to resign and the rest is, as the old saying goes, history.

Just a show of hands: how many people would take a golden shower for eight million bucks? I'm raising my hand. I've endured plenty of indignity in my lifetime and if I could get paid $8,000,000 for just one moment of it, what the heck. Then I'm done being humiliated cause after that, why care?

Anyway, that seems to be the story all over the GOP-slash-Conservative universe these days. One faction is fighting that faction; this group of Republican Congressman is stabbing those other Republican Congressmen in the back — hell, the conservative talkers on “The Five” are even arguing amongst themselves over what this fiscal cliff business means. This one thinks that one is wrong, the young guy trying to look too cool for school is acting bored … there's no joy in FoxWorld tonight.

Possible Answers to That Very Important Question

1. How do I look when I'm sitting alone -- but interested in sitting with somebody else?
Perhaps you've gotten this advice: Go to a restaurant alone and eat dinner. Or: Go to a movie alone. The rationale behind these directives is that men who are at these venues and are also alone will see you, feel comfortable and come over to say hello. It may even be that I was the one who gave it to you.

But here's the catch. I was a travel writer for many years. I strode into hotels from France to the North Pole, plopped down at the bar, ordered a glass of oaky-yet-overpriced Chardonnay and met… exactly no one.

My friend Sukie, on the other hand, can go to bar and meet someone in about 10 minutes. This is not because she is prettier, funnier or sexier than I am. It's because of the expression on her face. She looks relaxed. She looks open,The Men's Canada Goose Expedition Parka is the stylish choose for you're to wear when you are walk on the city streets. if not ready to laugh at the world's dumbest joke. I look like I have a lot of stuff to do, stuff that requires me to choke back that wine and get right back to business in five minutes. It's a facial expression I picked up to keep luridly friendly strangers on the street from striking up conversations about, say, my derriere.

The truth is that for much of our lives as women (and girls) we're told to not talk to strangers, on the street or anywhere else. Even decades later, this training is hard to undo. You don't have to give the men around you bedroom eyes, fling your hair around and pout your lips.Shop the latest christian louboutin boots handpicked by a global community of independent trendsetters and stylists. Then again, you also don't have to look stressed, exhausted, closed and annoyed. You can take a minute -- think of the time your brother mistook your glue stick for Chapstick -- and smile, genuinely.

2. What do I never have to do again?
There are some perks to being a grownup. You don't have to do everything for love… or even just for dating. You don't have to go to lunch if you can't stand long, lingering meals in the middle of the day that take you away from your hugely demanding, fast-paced job. You don't have to go on blind dates with men who send you an email to arrange the time and date addressed to Kimmy when your name is Carol. You don't have to go to yet another Oscar-night party at your sister's house, where you and one guy are the only single people there and subject to all the other couples' suggestions that the two of you set up the cheese platter together… in the kitchen… alone.

To meet somebody, you may have to do some stuff you don't want to. But you don't have to do those one or two things (note: one or two) things you loathe. You don't have to feel guilty or defensive about not doing them, either. Taking part in dinners and activities you do like makes it,All prada bags with high quality and best service, save 50% off, Free and fast delivery. well, all the more likely that you'll have a good time in your pursuit of romance -- and nothing is more attractive than happiness.

3. What heartbreaks have I saved myself from?
As time goes on, it gets tempting to just settle down with the guy who'd make a good father. Or the guy who will never leave you. Or the guy who all your friends like. Or the loyal, wise adorable guy with the big, fat heroin habit. Should you decide to go this route, it's true that you won't eat dinner alone. But being in a relationship with somebody you don't love is like dipping your loneliness in chocolate. Once you get past the candy coating, it's still there, only magnified, because you're going to sleep next to somebody who doesn't know the real you, because you can't ever show him, because you can't ever love him, which is the loneliest feeling in the world.

You may console yourself every day that at least you've got kids or the joint account. But you may also get divorced. Or you may go on, despair turning into seething silent rage and depression.

My point is: When every clumsy friend or family member offers help in the form of wildly misguided criticism (e.g., you have impossible standards,Welcome to SKY Cycling, we supply most popular and valuable wholesale products. you don't really want to be in a relationship, blah, blah, bleck),Aquarium Canada Goose Yorkville Parka fish are a popular option for home . please try to take a minute and congratulate yourself for not willingly being the cause of your own unhappiness. You have insisted and trusted in your own ability to find your own damn joy, to live a life based on the things you want, and you may just get it one day -- due to your refusal of those you don't.
