Wednesday night's events capped a busy day that began with the royal couple receiving an official welcome at the provincial Legislative Building, where the prince presented to the Speaker of the assembly a block of oak from the Duchy of Cornwall to be carved as the black rod - a symbol of ceremonial position to be re-established in the legislature.
