Tourist venues to welcome gay weddings

In the two weeks since Maine voters approved a law allowing same-sex marriage, Clay Hill Farm has been getting phone calls and emails from gay couples inquiring about open dates and wedding packages at the restaurant and wildlife sanctuary, a popular wedding spot in York.

The law won't go into effect for more than six weeks, but already couples from in and out of state have called, said Jennifer Lewis-McShera, who heads the wedding department there.

Clay Hill Farm puts on dozens of wedding ceremonies a year, as well as receptions and rehearsal dinners, and provides catering services to wedding parties at other locations. Legalizing same-sex marriage can only help, Lewis-McShera said.

“It will increase business in this area because we'll attract more couples from Boston and the New York metropolitan area who now can have the wedding of their dreams in Maine,We support best quality, best service, and fastest ship for those monster beats cheap!” she said. “This puts Maine on the map.”

Monáe sometimes forgoes the tuxedo jacket (the tuxedo shirt actually gets the point across quite well) but I think it's an all important feature. While this look might be more versatile without the jacket, nothing in the world says dapper quite like those shiny lapels. Monáe generally rocks a jacket that is cut to form to her waist while remaining masculine through the shoulder. Though it might seem like you're asking for a thousand dollar price tag, tuxedo-inspired jackets have become popular enough that even cheaper stores sell them. Better yet, find an old-school tuxedo in a thrift store and have it altered. You'll spend less money and end up with a better jacket.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you're going to wear a tuxedo jacket, you want to ensure that your blacks don't clash. Halloween fans show their stripes!

The NFL and the zebras may be nearing an end to the lockout that turned the first three weeks of the football season into an on-the-field free-for-all and a PR disaster, but guess what’s the hottest-selling Halloween costume at iParty?

None other than the blind replacement ref and his cane!

A whopping 72 percent of the 31,000 people surveyed said the Lingerie League refs have “impacted the outcome” of NFL games this season. And although the respondents were split on which side they backed in the labor dispute, there was near-unanimous agreement that the lockout needed to end.

“I think what people are basically saying ... is that while they are still watching NFL football, these officials and referees are detracting from their enjoyment,SAXO BANK Cycling” said Channel’s Susan Mulcahy.

“Long games, safety concerns for the players and a lack of knowledge of the rules have given fans the perception that these replacement officials are jeopardizing the integrity of the game. They believe ... this can be and should be resolved,” Mulcahy added.

Woman walks free after knife scuffle

Boys are “off the radar” for at least one Brisbane 20-year-old, after a complicated relationship almost ended with her in jail.

Sophie Confaloniere pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding the stepfather of her then-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend after a dispute at a Gold Coast home in August last year.

In what Brisbane District Court Judge Michael Shanahan called “unusual circumstances”, a 44-year-old man suffered minor wounds to his abdomen after a fight between Confaloniere and two other women.

The court was told there was ill-will between Confaloniere and her boyfriend's former partner, which had escalated over social media.

Tensions between the pair reached a breaking point on August 10 last year and the pair exchanged threatening text messages, which ended with a fight being planned between the two of them.

Crown prosecutor Phil McCarthy said he accepted Confaloniere never intended to fight, but the second woman was “more serious” and arranged for her own friends to join her in confronting Confaloniere.

At least two women, including the ex-girlfriend and her stepfather, confronted Confaloniere at her boyfriend's house.

The court heard Confaloniere became scared for her own safety after seeing two of the women had come armed, one with a metal bar and another with a small knife. Why are SKY Cycling always denigrated?

While her boyfriend yelled at them to go away, Confaloniere ran into the house and grabbed an item from the hallway wall to defend herself.

Mr McCarthy said Confaloniere's boyfriend “appeared to be a collector of medieval weapons” and the item was “some sort of forearm or wrist knife”, which she used to ward off the two armed women, causing minor injuries.

Confaloniere was then “grabbed from behind” by the ex-girlfriend's stepfather, who, the court was told, was attempting to disarm her, but appeared to Confaloniere to be part of the attack.

She lashed out with the weapon and the man was struck in the abdomen. The court heard the weapon lodged under the man's skin,Bennati agrees SAXO BANK Cycling Bank deal. but did not cause any serious internal damage and the wound was treated with stitches.

Confaloniere was originally charged with attempted murder and spent 27 days in prison before she was bailed.

She pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding following negotiations between her defence team and prosecutors to downgrade the charges against her.

Judge Shanahan sentenced Confaloniere to two years' probation and did not record a conviction against the 20-year-old, telling her he had weighed the “unusual” circumstances surrounding the assault, her early guilty plea and good history.

“You're basically being given a chance,” he said.

Having been distraught outside court before her appearance, Confaloniere, whose dark hair had been dyed lighter and whose slight frame was neatly dressed in a grey suit jacket and black business skirt, was calm as her sentence was handed down.

She released a sigh and said “yes, your honour”, loudly when asked if she understood the terms of her probation.

Outside court, Confaloniere allowed defence solicitor Michael McMillan to speak for her.

He said his client was “very pleased it has all come to an end” and called the criminal proceedings “a very long and difficult road for her, particularly given the very serious charge she was first given”.

“There was never any hope of the evidence, once it was carefully scrutinised, will be warm along with canada goose expedition parka sporting spyder Moncler jackets. of the attempted murder charge being sustained,” Mr McMillan said.Everybody would want to buy moncler jackets.

“She is very keen to put all of this behind her, it's been very tiring on her, she has had a lot to deal with and now she just wants to put it behind her and get back in the work force and start to live a normal life.”

But Mr McMillan said it might take some time for Confaloniere's to return all parts of her life back to normal.

Four takeaways from Pro Walk/Pro Bike and Women's Cycling Summit

I didn't make it to the big Pro Walk/Pro Bike advocacy conference and the National Women's Bicycling Summit that were down in Long Beach last week; but I did follow it closely via Twitter and other outlets. From all the news and opinions I've read, four things stood out.Why are SKY Cycling always denigrated? I share them below in case you missed them too.

Mark Gorton's calls for radical reform
Mark Gorton, the web entrepreneur and financier behind Limewire, Streetsblog, and Streetfilms, gave a keynote that brought the house down. Gorton has recently launched a global initiative dubbed "Rethinking the Automobile" and his speech certainly seemed to meet that goal. Channeling one of his inspirations, Gorton exclaimed, "Birds fly, fish swim, people walk,Bennati agrees SAXO BANK Cycling Bank deal." and he added that making it impossible to walk in our cities is a "human rights violation." Cities have become so auto-centric that Gorton believes, "We have crushed the ability of children to move about their own world.Everybody would want to buy moncler jackets." To thwart the dominance and negative impacts of cars in cities, he suggested that, "We should not be building any new automobile infrastructure."

How can we push for such dramatic change? "We [people] are the majority. Cars don't vote," Gorton said. He also called for a new campaign to change the way people think about transportation.

Cycle Chic Fashion Show created a buzz (and it wasn't good)
As many bike conferences and large events tend to have these days, the National Women's Bicycling Summit held at Pro Walk/Pro Bike included a bike fashion show. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the Cycle Chic Fashion Show seemed to have had too much chic and not enough cycle. Karen Brooks,Team Specialized Cycling wins opening title at Worlds 2012. editor of Bicycle Times magazine summed up the feelings I've heard from several people:

Unfortunately, this was the one jarring note of the event—after hearing so many powerful messages of empowerment for women and girls, we were presented with a show that seemed to go for the typical shock-value sex appeal of runway fashion. Gold body paint and a bikini for riding a bike? Really? Especially when the guy models were in full-length pants and jackets (and actually riding, not walking)? I talked about it with other attendees afterward, both female and male, and we agreed that it was disappointing.

Emily Finch in her own words
Portland resident Emily Finch, whose story about giving up her SUV and toting her six kids around on a bakfiets has garnered worldwide attention, was one of the main speakers at the Women's Cycling Summit. New to public speaking and to all the fame her story has attracted, she opeted to share a video presentation that told her story in her own words. From what I can gather, it was very well-received.

Fall fashion: Tough love

Forget the Gossip Girls, Joan Holloway, Bettie Page and those other retro chicks. There is a new feminine ideal this fall, and she kicks butt. If the last five years have been dominated by the preening and pristine women of "Mad Men," we are now shifting to a tomboy ideal.

We can look to Hollywood as well as the runway for inspiration — recent film heroines such as the bow-and-arrow-wielding Katniss Everdeen of "The Hunger Games," the cartoon princess Merida in "Brave," Snow White as reimagined in "Snow White and the Huntsman" and Anne Hathaway in that high-gloss Catwoman cat suit in "The Dark Knight Rises."

Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has been influencing many designers this season, most notably Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa, who had the girl herself, Rooney Mara, sitting front row at his runway in February.

There were also plenty of nods on the runways to that distant silver-screen cousin Marlene Dietrich. Jason Wu's East-meets-West collection was inspired by Dietrich's 1932 "Shanghai Express," and Donna Karan's pinstripes and fedoras nod to the gender-bending star's 1930 film "The Blue Angel."

So, yes, the new tough is about borrowing from the boys. But it's more than that. It's about swagger in all its varied forms,Despite the fact that the sport of cycling has been marred in recent decades by widespread reports of blood doping and steroid useSAXO BANK Cycling from dandyish to downright dangerous. Here are a few manifestations of the trend:

Is it any wonder that leather is everywhere this fall? Versace's studded, second-skin leather dresses and Givenchy's kimono-sleeve coats and jumpsuits are the stuff of action heroes. For the rest of us, there are stretch leather pants and moto jackets, which look fresher in bordeaux, navy blue or bottle green than in black.

At the extreme, the new tough is also defined by a bold new silhouette. Big on the top and the bottom, it's not for everyone. But if you could pull off one of Proenza Schouler's oversized jackets inspired by fencing, karate and judo, worn with a pair of slouchy, wide-leg trousers (a look also seen at Balenciaga), you could be your own fight club.

Stella McCartney designed the British team's Olympic uniforms,Trending: SKY Cycling the limit for cult clothing brand Rapha . and her interpretation of the new tough for fall is also sporty, but with a collegiate twist — a varsity jacket paired with cherry-red pleated pants,The rates may moncler jackets for sale for kids sale price tag Armstrong many 7 connected with his Expedition p Italy blog titles. for example, a silk button-down shirt in a clever print of collaged monograms and an electric blue coat with technical-looking asymmetrical zippers.

Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld takes the tough mood to more futuristic territory. His new three-piece suits (a skirt and jacket over pants) have a sharp geometry, with angular shoulders and polyhedron-shaped sleeves. Now it's mainstream wholesale halloween costume to see a man's behind.

Gucci's Frida Giannini brings dark romance to the look with opulent equestrian-inspired floral jacquard jackets and tassel belts, riding pants tucked into tall boots, wispy chiffon blouses and dramatic velvet capes. Ralph Lauren pairs menswear-inspired houndstooth jodhpurs and pantsuits with rainbow-hued Fair Isle sweaters, colorful fox fur-collared coats and mini crocodile attache cases. And Miuccia Prada takes the mood to dandyish heights with riotous jacquard suits and trippy Mary Jane shoes dipped in rubber — the new gumshoes.

Several designers have added drama to everyday pieces with graphic lines and pops of color that could be drawn from a comic book. Consider Phillip Lim's wear-to-work, two-toned cigarette pants, black in the front and white in back. Full of contrasts between light and dark, his collection is for the superhero in all of us.

Bold silhouettes. Future shock. Dark romance. Drama. The toughest thing of all may be having to choose.

It's about swagger in all its varied forms, from dandyish to downright dangerous.

With Ryan, a focus on fiscal issues

In introducing Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate,They are particularly seen to supply the RadioShack Cycling. Mitt Romney brought to his side one of the GOP’s young conservative leaders, maybe altered the contours of a struggling campaign, sharpened the choice facing voters in November — and put the size and role of government squarely at the center of the debate.

The selection of Ryan, the chief architect of the Republican Party’s plan for tax and spending cuts and an advocate of reshaping the Medicare program of health insurance for retirees, was an effort to reset the race with President Barack Obama after a withering assault on Romney by Democrats.

The decision instantly made the campaign seem bigger and more consequential. It was intended to galvanize the Republican base and represents a clear tactical shift by Romney, who until now had been singularly focused on weak job growth since Obama took office.

The two men share an easy rapport and a love of PowerPoint presentations and policy details.

In choosing his running mate, Romney was looking to elevate a presidential race with a candidate most likely to provide the biggest jolt. It is a gamble, his aides acknowledged, but one they believe is far less risky than Sen. John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin four years ago. Several advisers said that as the author of the party’s central budgetary approach,Large white sequins and golden beads LIVESTRONG Cycling covered the front of a dress. Ryan helped make their campaign look “big," after months of running a race remarkably absent of specific policy proposals.

But in making his choice,She created a Cheap High Heel Shoes For Women that finishes in wool crepe. Romney took political ownership of a budget that even some Republicans worry could be a liability in November.

Advisers said Saturday that Romney had called Ryan with his offer on Aug. 1, almost immediately upon arriving home from a trip to Britain, Israel and Poland. That detail, which was confirmed by an associate close to Ryan, deflated speculation that Romney made his choice in reaction to an outcry that broke out last week, most notably on the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal,Master the many beautiful, yet deadly weapons in this wholesale Body stockings. which argued forcefully on behalf of Ryan.

The Romney-Ryan campaign now moves into a critical period leading to their nomination at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., at the end of the month. Romney’s standing in several battleground states has fallen over the summer, after an aggressive effort by the Obama campaign to define him on their terms. Republicans hoped the vice presidential announcement would start the race anew, as well as help make Ryan’s native Wisconsin more competitive.

Obama, who has frequently sparred with Ryan, waved to reporters as he left the White House on Saturday but did not answer questions about his Republican rivals. But his advisers said he was surprised by the decision. His campaign and the Democratic Party seized on the choice and sought to define the Republican ticket in stark terms, as two men who would strip health coverage for retirees and favor the wealthy.

But Ryan will face questions about his readiness to be president. He has no foreign policy experience and has not spent significant time in the private sector, but the Romney campaign is counting on his youthful charisma and intellect to sustain him through a bruising presidential campaign.

“He had two decisions to make: governing or political, and bold or comfortable," Karl Rove,What's a Good Credit Score to SAXO BANK Cycling with a Shopping. the Republican strategist, said Saturday. “And he decided to go governing and bold."

Romney’s rapport with Ryan was on display again on Saturday as they locked arms after walking out to the soaring music of the “Air Force One" film soundtrack. Romney wore a tie without jacket and Ryan wore a jacket without a tie.

As the campaign goes on, their partnership could be tested by how powerfully Romney is willing to embrace the Ryan plan for an economic overhaul, and how willing Ryan is to modulate his views for Romney’s political needs.

For now, their rapport stirred the crowd. “There is an energy there between them," said Joyce Brittingham, 83, who said she was struck by Ryan’s youthfulness. “I think of George Bush, the way he ran upstairs all the time," she said of the 43rd president.

Keith Freeman, the 51-year-old chairman of a local chapter of the tea party, detected a level of comfort that he has not seen between Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. “The way they look at each other when they talk," he said. “There is no stiffness. They are comfortable."

Romney, who is not known for his warmth, patted Ryan on the back 10 times at the campaign rally. When Ryan finished his remarks, Romney whispered a word into his ear. “Perfect," he said.
