These shoes were made for

The story of Oprah’s sore feet and metallic purple Manolo Blahnik stilettos is still getting plenty of mileage in Ottawa. When the queen of all media was here during a speaking tour in April, her aching feet prompted her to take off her sky-high heels, which she offered up to someone in the audience.

Sandy Sharkey just happened to be in the right place at the right time. The former longtime radio personality was standing next to the stage trying to snap a photo of Oprah when she suddenly became the lucky recipient of a size 10? pair of pumps. Lucky, too, that this is her shoe size.

Since then, the shiny heels have been trotted out at various charity events. On Tuesday, Sharkey, who was the guest of honour at this month’s high-powered Ladies Who Lunch event at the Westin Hotel, once more pulled out the shoes and numerous ladies lined up to pay $10 to have their photos taken wearing them.welcome to replica shoes web, best service and low prices.

“It was exhilarating to walk in the shoes of the wealthiest woman in North America,” says real estate agent Cindy Sezlik. “Even though they were way too big for me, they felt so comfortable. I would have paid $25 to try them on.”

The money raised will go toward Sharkey’s pet project — a wild horse sanctuary in California called Return to Freedom. During the luncheon, she spoke about her passion for animals, nature and photography.

“Because I was on the morning show, I would often spend my afternoon driving around taking photos. When I lost my job in January, I wasn’t devastated because it was never my entire life. I was lucky to have 33 years in radio.”

“I took 15,000 photographs when I was there. I’ve always had a love affair with horses, but also protecting animals from harm. Wild horses are the quintessential image of freedom.”

Sharkey credits Ottawa photographer Michelle Valberg for showing her the ropes and her husband for buying her a really good camera.

Ladies Who Lunch is the brainchild of Catherine Landry, who wears a number of hats in Ottawa, including charity fundraiser, event planner and brand developer for Big Rig Brewery. Her countless good deeds in the city have made her almost as famous as her long dreadlocks and endless enthusiasm.

She first got the idea for a women’s networking lunch in the capital after stumbling across one in the Parrot Club at the Basil Street Hotel in Knightsbridge (which has since closed its doors) while travelling in London.

“I was zipping around seeing the sights and popped in to see this hotel because it had a lot of history. I peeked in this room, which was pink and lime green, and saw all these beautifully dressed women having tea and sandwiches. That image was captured in my mind.”

Landry saw similar lunches taking place in Miami and at the Russian Tea Room in New York with waiters in white gloves and society women dressed to the nines and wanted the same for Ottawa. Her last two events have been a sell out, with 140 ladies from every type of profession, including designers, media, small business owners, farmers, lawyers and authors, to name a few.Discover the largest collection of cheap Michael Kors Handbags .

“Ottawa, you are a cosmopolitan city and can support such an event. The Westin has been amazing. Executive chef Kenton Leier is insane and makes us the most ridiculous lunches. John Jarvis (the general manager of the Westin) is the best thing since sliced toast. I want to take this idea to the Westin in Vancouver and out East so that it’s coast to coast,” says Landry, who has teamed up with the hotel’s catering chief Ann Rickenbacker.

The luncheon, which cost $60, included a meet-and-greet cocktail and appetizer hour followed by a three-course sit-down lunch at Daly’s Restaurant overlooking the Rideau Canal. The three-hour event included a table-to-table fashion show courtesy of Valamode, a new online high-end consignment store, a Prada fragrance launch by perfume personality Sid Cratzberg and mini shopping area featuring items from Viens Avec Moi boutique, Dream Weaver gift store and Just Because doll-clothing designs.

Cathy Skinner is not alone in taking action

Facebook sites selling counterfeit bags close pages

Cathy Skinner, administrator for Ladies Purses and Jewelry Only Frankfort,There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. closed the online yard sale after seeing Call 6 investigator Kara Kenney’s story, specifically warnings from the federal government that selling counterfeits is illegal.

“I should’ve known the law before I set up the page,” Skinner said.

Skinner said some people on the Facebook yard sale were selling counterfeit items, such as knockoff Coach purses.

“I don’t want to take the chance,” said Skinner.Save on Christian Louboutin Pump! All the Sales, All in One Place. “I don’t want to go to jail. It’s scary, very scary.”

The U.S. Attorney’s office told RTV6 site administrators can be held liable for counterfeit selling on their website.

The feds have traditionally focused on store fronts, but Facebook and other sites could soon be their next target.

“Selling counterfeit items is illegal, and you could go to jail,” said Gary Woolf, resident agent in charge of Indianapolis' Homeland Security Investigations, the federal agency that investigates counterfeit bags. “The person you’re selling to could be an undercover police officer, undercover federal agent, you never know.”

“It’s absolutely a possibility,” said Brad Shepard, Assistant U.S. Attorney. “We could be going after anyone who violates the law.”

Cathy Skinner is not alone in taking action.

The Camby IN Community Online Yard Sale mentioned in the Call 6 Investigation has since been deleted.

Intellectual property expert Brad Harper’s firm works with more than 100 companies.

“We have teams of people who that's all they do is look at those sites day after day for our clients products,” said Harper. “If you can’t verify the authenticity of the handbags, that’s a good approach (to delete the page).”

Harper said people who sell counterfeit products can face cease and desist letters and civil lawsuits.

“It costs jobs in the United States and around the world,” Harper said. These people are not good people, and a lot of this breeds crime.Shop cheap christian louboutin shoes, pumps, wedding shoes, sandals with low price in our discount christian louboutin sandals Store online.”

Harper said counterfeiting also results in child labor and a loss of tax revenue that impacts Hoosiers.

“The tax revenue is lost because the buyer, seller and manufacturer either pay no taxes or less taxes than they would for the authentic product,” Harper said.

Cathy Skinner said many people were upset with her decision to close the Facebook purse site, but she said they can continue to break the law, but not on her page.

“Most of them said there’s nothing wrong with it,” Skinner said. “But if it’s wrong,There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale. it’s wrong.”

The punishment for selling counterfeits is up to 10 years in prison and a $2 million fine.

Raleigh handbag designer Erin Corson is as surprised as anyone that a gift for her grandmother’s birthday eventually led to her own business.

Corson wanted to make a clutch handbag, but couldn’t find the right fabric to fit her granny’s style.

“After searching around for a few days, I came across a beautiful 1930s silk vintage kimono,” she says. “It was coral, one of her favorite colors, and perfect since she had decorated her home with a strong Asian influence.”

The handbag was a hit. After collecting compliments from family and friends, Corson decided to make more purses using vintage kimono fabric,In our Michael Kors handbags outlet shop, cheap Michael Kors Bags 2013 hot sale at an affordable price. and Kaleidoscope by Erin was born.

Corson uses a variety of vintage kimono fabrics, ranging from delicate floral prints to vibrant geometric patterns.

“My fabrics date back as far as the late 1800s up to 1980s,” she says. “And all of my kimono fabric comes from a family business in Japan, located in a town that once was a major manufacturer of kimonos.”

While it would have been easier to create her bags with a more conventional fabric, Corson says it’s worth the trouble to see the colorful designs find new life.

Vinyl Revival hopes to be a destination

A revival of vinyl at new Lansdowne business

Some call it a comeback. Others call it an analog revolt against the digital age. In a literal take on the adage “What comes around goes around,” vinyl records have caught the attention of music lovers and collectors everywhere.

Local entrepreneur Andrea DiFabio is banking on this back-to-the-LP movement. Due to open next month in downtown Lansdowne on the site of the former Cinema 16:9 is a new old-style record shop, Vinyl Revival, promising a return a time when shopping for music was a touchy-feely experience.

“I think the interest in vinyl never went away for record collectors but a new generation of music fans is coming to appreciate the warm sound and the experience of sitting down and listening to a record. The artwork on many record covers is also another draw,” says DiFabio, 44, of Springfield.

This fashion, art and music aficionado is taking the record store experience and combining it with unusual gifts like handbags made from recycled album covers, pillows made from cast-off band/concert T-shirts, clocks and mirrors made from reused vinyl records plus original artwork and jewelry -- all with a music theme.

DiFabio is partnering with the FirstGlance Film Festival to program a variety of features, documentaries, short films and live music events to be showcased in the 40-seat theater in a First Friday screening series.

“Since the space already had a theater, I thought I’d expand the independent record store to include indie films and artwork too. With the opening of Vinyl Revival, I look forward to reaching out to the community of artistic-minded people who value alternative entertainment and unique products as much as I do,” she says. There are numerous diversified high heels at christian louboutin shoes for sale.

Like the original rock ‘n’ roll invasion, the vinyl resurgence seems to have started in England. Popular bands like the White Stripes, Primal Scream, Keane and the Arctic Monkeys have all insisted their singles be released on the 7-inch disc format. American avant-garde artist Beck released an album where consumers could choose their own album cover. The Michael Kors Outlet Online Store sale cheap Michael Kors Handbags with discount price and excellent quality, 30-60% off, fast shipping and no tax!

Millennials seem to be hooked on their parents’ music. The Classic Rock format in radio programming keeps the music of the 60s, 70s and 80s alive and relevant.

Classic Rock is hip and records are cool again. And this nostalgia extends to performance venues as well. If you’ve been to a recent Tom Petty concert you’d see that 20-somethings outnumber Boomers.

This burgeoning audience of audiophiles was rocked to sleep to the strains of Jackson Browne and Bad Company and now they’re demanding the original music in its original format and packaging.

Who can forget the anticipation of peeling off the cellophane of a new LP and listening to the grooved tracks on a Technics turntable while reading the liner notes and marveling at the album cover art work?

Some of the best album covers of all time belong to the Beatles. In 1966, the Beatles ushered in the age of album illustration psychedelia with Revolver followed by the trippy Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the mysterious “Is Paul Dead?” cover of Abbey Road. Other top album covers include Pink Floyd’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason,The Clash’s London Calling, Prince’s Sign of the Times and Nirvana’s Nevermind. Some would argue for the Led Zeppelin IV symbolically anonymous cover or the Rolling Stones photo collage on Exile on Main St. It’s a debate worth hearing in an iTunes world.

DiFabio remembers when a trip to the music store was a day-long adventure. “Growing up, I loved hanging out at my local record store. I hope to get people excited about music when they discover an older artist who is new to them or a new artist they never heard about.”

Vinyl Revival will be stocked with many vintage and new albums from a wide variety of genres including folk, rock, pop, R&B, indie, children’s records, soundtracks and holiday albums. On the visual side of the business, Vinyl Revival will screen features, documentaries and short films by independent filmmakers. The theater will also be available to rent for private parties and cast and crew screenings.

In this age of digital downloads and music-on-the-go, DiFabio hopes to get people to take a few hours of their time and get intimate with art and music. “My mission for opening Vinyl Revival is two-fold: to give customers an alternative to digital music,Shop the latest collection of Michael Kors 2013 from the most popular stores. the multiplex movie theaters and national retail chains by focusing more on indie and local artists.

Woman robbed by motorbike pair in Queens Road in Buckhurst Hill

A woman had her mobile phone and Rolex watch stolen when two men on a motorbike threatened her with a knife and a handgun in the street.

The 38-year-old was walking along Queens Road in Buckhurst Hill when the duo pulled up alongside her.

They then pulled out the weapons and grabbed the items and her keys.Welcome to our michael kors outlet online shop! Here we sale Buy Michael Kors, bags, purses, wallets with very low price. Join us quickly!

The woman suffered a broken finger when the pair snatched her watch.

The duo then sped off.

It happened at around 11pm on Thursday, but Essex Police has only released information about the attack today.

Investigating Officer, DC Nina Fletcher, said in a statement: "We’re looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the actual robbery, heard the woman screaming or saw a motorcycle being ridden at high speed, the wrong way up Queens Road between 11pm and midnight on Thursday night.”

A police spokesman added: "The rider and his passenger are both described as white and were wearing helmets and dark clothing, with one being taller than the other.

The Colorado River’s winter whisper in the Kawuneeche Valley was becoming a quiet spring roar last week as the stream hinted at the beginnings of the snowmelt’s pell-mell tumble off the mountains.

But not a drop of that snowmelt cascading into the Colorado River will reach the Pacific Ocean. The last time the Colorado River reached its delta at the Sea of Cortez was in 1998.

The Colorado River — the carver of the Grand Canyon and the chaotic stage for river runners in Glenwood, Westwater, Cataract and numerous other canyons — is bridled by urban growth from its headwaters at La Poudre Pass at the Larimer-Grand county border all the way to its dry delta in Mexico.

More than 35 million people rely on the Colorado River for drinking water and lawn care. More than 5.5 million acres of farmland depend on the river for irrigation. In Fort Collins, the Colorado River fills bathtubs, Horsetooth Reservoir, and bottles of Fat Tire and 90 Shilling.

As an avid fly-fisherman and Roaring Fork Valley river activist,Welcome to Michael Kors Handbags Outlet online now. Ken Neubecker knows the Colorado River well. In April, the group he works for, American Rivers, named the Colorado the group’s most endangered river of 2013.

“It’s been one of the most endangered rivers for a long time,” he said last week while watching trout jump in the muddy Colorado River as it raced, swollen with silty spring runoff, through Glenwood Springs. “It’s good to see that the entire river is getting attention now because the entire river is pretty much worked to death. It has been plumbed from top to bottom.”

All the people who rely on the river every day are projected to double to up to 76 million in the next 50 years. New industries, such as thirsty oil shale development in northwest Colorado,Discover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women. are expected to use more water from the river. Climate change is expected to make the flows in the river less and less regular and less and less certain.

“We’re putting very intensive demands on very limited resources, somehow hoping that we won’t push the river to its breaking point,” said Dave Nickum, executive director of Colorado Trout Unlimited.Welcome to buy christian louboutin shoes from our online store.

The challenge for the river’s caretakers is daunting, he said: “It’s really trying to keep it as a viable living river in the face of diversions.”

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced in December that it expects flows in the Colorado River to decrease at the northern end of the Grand Canyon by about 9 percent in the next 50 years because of regular periods of drought in the river’s headwaters. That is expected to create a large gap between how much Colorado River water is needed for cities, farmers and wildlife, and how much water the river can actually provide.

When the future of the Colorado River is uncertain, the future of Northern Colorado is uncertain, too.

“If you’re here in Fort Collins, half of the water that comes out of your tap is Colorado River water,” said Reagan Waskom, director of the Colorado Water Institute at Colorado State University. “We are part of the reason that the upper part of the river gets de-watered. We have to take responsibility for that. The Cheap Michael Kors Bags will provide you cheap but high-quality products.”

Leaked report points to LVMH secret operation on Hermes

LVMH, the luxury goods company headed by Bernard Arnault, undertook a secret operation to build its controversial stake in Hermes, its smaller French rival, according to a leaked report from France’s stock market regulator.

The report, “vigorously contested” by LVMH, added an incendiary new twist to an acrimonious battle between the two companies.

The dispute erupted when LVMH announced in October 2010 that it held 17.1 per cent of family-controlled Hermes, which floated in 1993, in apparent breach of regulatory thresholds to declare stakes of 5, 10 and 15 per cent.

It triggered an inquiry by the regulator AMF and the filing of separate lawsuits by 176-year-old Hermes, famous for its scarves and bags, as it fought to fend off the unwelcome intrusion by LVMH, whose brands include Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Dom Pérignon champagne.

LVMH, which now owns 22.6 per cent of Hermes, has always maintained that its intentions were friendly and that it had not intended to acquire the stake,Discover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women. saying it opted to take shares instead of cash to avoid paying a big capital gains tax bill on Hermes equity swap derivatives that it held.

Mr Arnault, chairman and chief executive, told shareholders at LVMH’s annual meeting last month that the group had ended up with the stake “in an unexpected manner”.

But according to a report prepared for the AMF’s sanctions committee, leaked to Le Monde newspaper,Welcome to buy christian louboutin shoes from our online store. LVMH first considered acquiring shares from Hermes family members and on the open market. Instead, it mounted an operation from 2007 under which it used a series of subsidiaries and banks to acquire equity swaps in tranches adding up to 12.2 per cent of Hermes but which did not individually exceed 5 per cent and which were “undetectable by the public”. These were later converted into shares.

The report said the earlier acquisition by LVMH of a 4.9 per cent stake in Hermes in 2001-02 was completed via vehicles in Luxembourg, the US state of Delaware and Panama that were not detailed in the group’s consolidated accounts.

In a statement, LVMH, which has always maintained that it acted within the law in its use of equity swaps,Welcome to Michael Kors Handbags Outlet online now. said it intended “to vigorously contest the conclusions contained in this report” when the group appears before the AMF’s sanctions committee on May 31 to defend its actions. It insisted it would prove “the absence of any wrongdoing by LVMH towards the law and [AMF] rules”.

The AMF said in October last year that it had found evidence of “wrongdoing” and asked the sanctions committee to decide whether to impose penalties on LVMH. On Sunday, it said it had “no comment on a file which will shortly be examined by the sanctions committee”. Hermes also declined to comment.

Patrick Thomas, Hermes’ chief executive, said last month that the company had discovered “damning” evidence, leading it to take legal action against LVMH. It filed two suits last year that are independent of the AMF inquiry.

LVMH filed a countersuit alleging “slander, blackmail and unfair competition”.

The Hermes legal action suggests that it does not believe the AMF’s final decision will go far enough in forcing LVMH to give up or slash its shareholding. The Cheap Michael Kors Bags will provide you cheap but high-quality products.

The AMF has said that France’s rules on stakebuilding were “badly formulated”, and its recommendation to include equity swaps among instruments that count towards shares had been ignored when France tightened its disclosure rules in 2008.Welcome to our michael kors outlet online shop! Here we sale Buy Michael Kors, bags, purses, wallets with very low price. Join us quickly!

The LVMH stake has left a free float of less than 7 per cent in Hermes, since the Hermes family controls the company with a 72 per cent share and a corporate structure that makes it virtually impervious to take over – unless the family itself were to disunite.

Bring it to the party

The last time we saw so many blossoms in fashion, we thought wearing floral smocks was appropriate attire for adult women. This time around, thankfully, florals come in a sexier, more sophisticated fashion.

Think big and bold, vivid colours and form-fitting silhouettes. The prettiest way to wear florals is in a dress, but why not be daring and try a floral pantsuit? Too much for you? Then just add a floral accent like a blouse, shoes or a handbag.

"Floral denim is a great way to go," Zahra Mamdani, president of Wear Else says. "Pair it with a simple lightweight sweater for spring and swap out for a tank or tee in the warmer months. Botanical-print dresses are also an option, balanced with a simple nude shoe and clutch."

Red floral top, $85, pants, $85, earrings, $20, yellow cuff bracelet, $22, bangle bracelets (set of 12), $18, orange square bangle, $20, all available at Laura stores, www.laura.ca.

HOT HUES

As Plum Clothing's Kate O'Brien says, "It always takes some good weather to get people in colour again." So put away the dark, sombre hues and deck yourself in sun-drenched ones instead.

Think refreshing citrus or tropical colours like lemon, lime,Find a great selection of christian louboutin shoes deals ! tangerine, mango, pineapple, coral and hibiscus blossom. Or look to the myriad aspects of the sea, from celadon to indigo, turquoise, aquamarine and every imaginable shade of blue and green in between.

Wear your bright pastels on their own, pair them with neutrals,Welcome to Michael Kors Handbags Outlet online now. or mix and match. This is definitely the season to brighten up.

It's been a few years since the maxi-dress came back into style, and this is an easy, breezy summer trend that shows no sign of going away. It's a look that's almost effortless - and can hide a few sins if you're feeling lazy, too.

"The floor length is really great for women who want to bare their legs," Plum Clothing's Kate O'Brien says. "It's just so nice and breezy to have a long dress with a pair of strappy sandals or even a flat sandal."

If you really, really like to show off your gams, though, the mini is just as hot a trend as the maxi. This one requires a bit more maintenance, though - be sure to groom and moisturize your legs before showing them off to the world.

Love prints, but florals are too girlie for you? Not to worry, because there is a whole world of graphic fashion out there.

Tribal prints, whether they hail from Africa or the South Pacific, are having a moment, either in simple two-tone patterns or multiple hues. Paisley, too, is back, but forget the ditsy little amoebas of the 1980s, today's paisley patterns are big, bold and dramatic. Geometric shapes are also huge this season, be they stripes, lozenges, swirls or other repetitive shapes.

"There are all kinds of different graphics," says Plum Clothing's Kate O'Brien. "And I love the fact that the prints can be played up with almost any colour in shoes and handbags."

"It's all about the summer pant," says Zahra Mamdani,We have high quality replica breitling watches, you can not miss the best Tag Heuer Replica Watches online. president of Wear Else.

"White pants or a pair of white jeans are a must, as are a pair of printed denim." Sleek, skinny and cropped trousers are an absolute must-have this summer.

Try them in bright colours and bold floral or graphic patterns. Pair them with a simple tank, flowing blouse and pretty cardigan or jacket. Or be bold and pair a vibrantly patterned pant with a matching jacket.

Dress them up or dress them down, this season's stylish trousers are a staple that will carry you everywhere this summer.

This is a fantastic season for accessories, especially for bags and shoes. They're a great way to add a pop of colour to a neutral outfit or to highlight one hue in a multicoloured array.Looking for cheap rolex watches? If so, why not come to this store! But if you're likely to be outdoors, make sure your accessories are practical, too, especially when it comes to footwear.

"When I'm going to a garden party I wear wedges because you don't know if you're going to be on grass or a patio. And there are gorgeous wedges out," says Vancouver designer Nicole Bridger.

If not a wedge, then a low-heeled slingback, pretty ballerina flat or chunky sandal is a must. So is a brightly coloured handbag, a shawl for cool evenings and statement jewelry, including bracelets, earrings and especially necklaces.

"You have to play up the big,Discover the largest collection of prada bags for women. bold jewelry," O'Brien says. "If you put a little money into your accessories, you can change it up completely."

Summer celebrations call for special beauty routines. Make sure to moisturize arms and legs, and apply plenty of sunscreen. A hat and sunglasses are both sun-safe and stylish. Invest in a pedicure and have fun with the season's bright, poppy nail shades.

Keep makeup light and to a minimum, and use products that can withstand heat, so your face doesn't melt into a puddle of foundation and mascara. There are also plenty of hair-care products to fight frizz and humidity, and others that offer extra hold for summer's pretty updos.

Royal HaskoningDHV Bags Tanjung Priok Expansion Deal (Indonesia)

The contract is part of the North Kalibaru Terminal Development and the first phase includes the development of a new 4.5 million TEUs container terminal allowing the economic development of Indonesia to continue.

Construction of one of the world’s largest port developments has begun in Indonesia. When it completes in 2023, Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok port, which currently handles the lion’s share of Indonesia’s exports and imports, will more than triple its annual capacity to 18 million TUEs of container traffic.

The creation of North Kalibaru Port, a new terminal within the port complex,We have high quality replica breitling watches, you can not miss the best Tag Heuer Replica Watches online. will play an essential role in the development of Indonesia, strengthening the national logistics chain, increasing global competitiveness and functioning as an international hub for seaborne trade. One of Indonesia’s most prestigious public projects, the North Kalibaru Port extension was opened by Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on 23 March 2013.

State owned port operator IPC (Indonesian Port Corporation) assigned Royal HaskoningDHV as lead consultant for the supervision of the construction of Stage 1 of the port extension with local sub-consultant PT Atrya Swascipta Rekayasa. The first new container terminal is scheduled to be operational in 2014; Stage 1 will be completed in 2018.

Port development

Royal HaskoningDHV will supervise construction works including land reclamation,Find a great selection of christian louboutin shoes deals ! revetments, an access bridge, a container yard and quay structures. Herman Pals, Project Director said: “This is one of the biggest port developments at this time. It is a strategic project in terms of infrastructure development in Indonesia, so for both the port and terminal operators the stakes are high. The schedule is tight and the quality requirements are high again. At the peak of the construction period, we will mobilise a team of over 50 staff to provide the multidisciplinary expertise required to deliver the complete supervision works and to resolve any issues arising from the construction works.”

Soft soil construction

“We have some interesting challenges, as the port is being constructed on very soft soils. Standard reclamation by landfill is not possible for the first terminal, because of large ground settlements and the time required allowing the ground to settle. In our Michael Kors handbags shop, cheap Michael Kors outlet hot sale at an affordable price. Commentary: …And the Fan Goes Wild

For one of the first times since the Fresno Grizzlies began playing baseball in Chukchansi Park, tickets were sold out, but it wasn’t that fans were there to enjoy a good old-fashioned baseball game.

The Fresno Grizzlies organization, the local minor league baseball team and farm club for the San Francisco Giants,One of the most popular ones are fake watches, cheap rolex watches illegally produced copies of authentic Rolex watches. was giving out replica championship rings — won by the Giants during the 2012 World Series — at the stadium gates before a game against the Tucson Padres.

Though the day was hot and the cement was blistering, thousands of “fans” waited in line hoping to receive the precious rings. Some people camped overnight to guarantee themselves the jewelry, while others showed up one or two hours prior to the beginning of the first inning and missed their opportunity.

Five hours before the gates opened, it was clear that there was no chance of obtaining a ring. The number of people in line looked to be closer to 10,000 (about 2,500 rings were available).

But why is this an example of baseball dying? There were a lot of people who were desperate to get their hands on some sweet memorabilia, and surely they would stay for the game since they already had paid the price of admission, right?

Once the game began, the stadium looked as busy as it always does, or as it’s better described, not that busy at all.

While the Grizzlies are not known to be the best baseball team in the nation,Welcome to replica louis vuitton outlet online store and buy latest Cheap Louis Vuitton handbags. they continue to churn out quality players for the Giants to pick and add to their own roster. With an area as dense in Giants’ fans as the Central Valley, you would assume there would be a good turnout.Discover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women. San Francisco jerseys were everywhere outside of the stadium waiting for their rings, but once the game began, it was apparent that most weren’t real baseball fans.

The hundreds of empty seats sent a message louder than the announcer through the loudspeaker.

Baseball is considered one of the “Big Three” sports in the country, along with American football and basketball, but the sport is falling farther behind the other sports when ratings enter the conversation.

It’s safe to say that the NFL is far and away the most popular sport in the country.

The least popular game in the NFL, the Pro Bowl on NBC in 2012, saw 12.5 million viewers. Game One of the 2012 World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers, however, featured the lowest number of viewers for an opening game of a World Series ever with 12.2 million. Game Two had fewer people tuned in to watch, despite the fact that it was the championship.

In four games, the World Series had about 50.5 million viewers.

Super Bowl XLVII, the most recent Super Bowl, featured the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. It was rated as the third most-watched television program in the U.S at 108.41 million viewers.

Why is it that when you look around, you see Boston Red Sox hats and Giants jerseys if people aren’t watching the actual sport? And why are people claiming to like it, while numbers continue to decline?

Everyone knows that baseball is the national pastime. It’s synonymous with the phrase. It may be more American than apple pie and bald eagles. There’s even a song written to honor the game that is baseball. This is a reflection of what baseball was a century or two ago, not where it stands now. While it once was the most widely played sport in America, it has been surpassed by the NFL by a vast margin.

Tradition plays a large role in baseball’s tight grasp at relevance. Baseball has been played for so long, the sport oozes with history. The sport has survived through controversies surrounding performance-enhancing drugs and racism,If you want to Buy Cheap Hermes Birkin with Guaranteed Quality, you're advised to visit hermes handbags store Store. but history seems to be one of the only attributes people like about the game.

People watch it because they always have since they were children. Their father or mother watched it, so they grew up along with the New York Yankees or the St. Louis Cardinals just like their parents before them — watching for the sake of tradition. Baseball clings to tradition because it doesn’t have much else. It is a slow game that has done little to nothing to change from what it was 100 years ago. People have grown tired of the same thing repeated year after year, while other sports continue to evolve to appeal to broader audiences.

Baseball will always have fans — bandwagoners or not. Some people genuinely love the sport because it appeals to them. Those who enjoy baseball are falling from the majority into the minority quickly. It doesn’t have the flair that other sports continue to promote. Younger viewers just don’t connect to baseball like prior generations. This will be a problem for the MLB in the not-so-distant future.

Professional athletes in the NFL and NBA have personalities that range from in-your-face and eclectic to wise and confident, that can be relatable across many demographics. Baseball doesn’t have anything to compare to them.

What was once special is now classified as generic and boring. There are 162 games in a season, and it drags on and on, never seeming to end.

Baseball is just what it always has been. And that is the problem. There is no change. There is no growth. The Michael Kors outlet will provide you cheap but high-quality products. Until something changes, the sport will continue to slowly fall in ratings and, eventually, fans will give up what they have held onto for so long.

Toronto through the eyes of Tom's Place's Tom Mihalik

Tom Mihalik brand to say he got his PhD at Spadina and College. He started alive with his ancestor at age 12, lending a duke in the family's buzz accouterment business that his father, William, started in Kensington Market in 1958. Arriving in Canada afterwards the Hungarian revolution, the Mihalik ancestors begin association with the added new Canadians in the breadth and connected to advance their retail business.

The abundance became Tom's Abode in 1980, eventually accumulation the acceptability "as a abode for suits," aboriginal and foremost. The business today occupies over 15,000 aboveboard feet, alms absolute apparel in every amount ambit and, "the casual swimsuit," quips Tom. A ancestors business through and through with Tom's son, Tom Jr., now acceptable operations, Tom Mihalik has absolutely apparent Toronto advance through his storefront over on Baldwin Street. I bent up with Tom on the additional akin of his abundance to apprehend about some of those observations firsthand.

What did Kensington Market attending like if you were a boy?

Walking down Baldwin Street, a lot of of the business was done outside. Anything that moved, we sold. Everything was live; the angle was live, the craven was live. We awash rabbits, too. On Spadina, we had hundreds and hundreds of altered mom and pop restaurants and they fabricated the finest foods. It was absolute bootleg food, bootleg affable — Eastern European. It was apparently a little bit fattening, but it was good.

What was the association like?

It was a baby town. You acclaimed together. If somebody died, you went to sit shiva with them. If anyone got married, you acclaimed their marriage with them. If somebody bare money, you were there for them.will be warm along with authentic canada goose jackets sporting spyder Moncler jackets. What's the better change you've noticed in Kensington Market over the accomplished 50 years?

The change that I'm seeing is that we accept added restaurants than ever. We had abounding added beginning aliment stores, and abominably we absent one of the better food in the market: European Meats. That was a big shock to us, but there is somebody new who is aperture up and I anticipate it will be actual absolute for the Market.

Do you anticipate the about-face appear added restaurants is a acceptable or bad?

Kensington Market is one of those Toronto spots breadth the car vs. bike agitation seems to appear to a head. Breadth do you angle on the issue?

I anticipate the Market needs both. We accept to accept parking spaces because we are aggressive with anybody in the city-limits — we are aggressive with malls that accept accoutrements and accoutrements of parking spaces. We absolutely acceptable the humans who are application bicycles; they should aswell be able to esplanade their bikes. But there should consistently be admission to Kensington Market by car.

And streetcars?

I never admired the streetcar. I anticipate the streetcar was the affliction affair to appear to Kensington Market; we're absolutely blocked in. You cannot acquaint me that an aged brace can just go on the alms and use the streetcar. The streetcar drops them off in the average of the road, they accept to airing into Kensington, again they accept to airing out with their arcade accoutrements and jump on top of the streetcar. That didn't do any amends to Kensington Market. It ability accumulate the air cleaner, it ability be acceptable for the environment, but it wasn't acceptable for us.

How does an absolute business survive in Toronto for added than 50 years?

This ability complete like a cliché, but I don't apperception putting in seven canicule a week. I apperceive whatever I put in, I'm traveling to be able to yield out. I accept consistently been adored richly. I'm a actual advantageous being to accept my business in Kensington Market. All I capital to do if I was 18, 19 or 20, years old was just to accomplish a living, and I'm accomplishing abundant added than that. My admonition to is consistently accept a dream, and don't be abashed to put in the time, because you will be abundantly rewarded. And don't advertise accouterment one day, and do a restaurant the next day. Stick to it. Work hard. Don't be afraid that all you're accomplishing is working, because you're architecture your future. You accept a lot of time to relax if you get old.

Nanotechnology and style unite

Cycling in the rain wearing jeans used to be unthinkable, but not any more thanks to innovations in fabric technology.

Outdoor brand Icebreaker is already on the mark. This winter, two new innovations to be added to its range are Realfleece Nano and merino-insulated soft shell jackets, designed to be worn both in the city and in the outdoors. Icebreaker creative director Rob Achten says the jackets were designed in response to customer demand for stylish, water-resistant merino jackets.

The Realfleece Nano jackets contain tiny nanoparticles that attach themselves to the merino fibre during the textile finishing process, leaving tiny pockets of air to maintain breathability. Polish village transforms itself into a ski resort

Just years ago, winter was a dead season for the Kotelnica Mountain, quiet under a quilt of snow.
Today, Kotelnica vibrates with activity from countless ski fans who flock to the new resort, one of Poland's trendiest.
The amazing transformation happened in a decade and reflects the inventiveness and spirit of enterprise seen in Poland since a market economy arrived with democracy in 1990.
Residents of this 17th century village at the foot of the Tatra mountains in southern Poland were making a modest living on farming and sheep breeding, with some additional funds coming from relatives who had gone, in a long-standing tradition,While Online Belstaff Outlet Shop Sale of what Americans might call knickers, to the United States for work.
Then, in 2000, some 50 farmers put their heads together and started up a joint venture to develop a ski resort, similar to the ones some of them had seen in Austria or Switzerland when Poles were finally allowed to freely travel abroad in the 1990s.
"They thought that we should also do something like that, with equal success, canada goose jackets" said Wladyslaw Piszczek,Sale ralph lauren sweater 50% off online store for sale. who is both mayor of the village and president of the ski resort venture.

Ten years on, Bialka Tatrzanska, about a 90-minute drive from the Renaissance city of Krakow, is among Poland's leading centers for skiers of all ages and levels, and a favorite family winter sports venue, though less demanding and more modest compared to many Western European resorts.
A recent ranking of Poland's ski centers by the Onet.pl Internet portal listed it as the country's second-most-popular ski resort based on quality of slopes and other amenities. In first place was Krynica Gorska, which has been around longer and boasts more challenging slopes.
Bialka Tatrzanska has a school employing some 80 instructors who stay busy in their black-and-orange jackets from morning until well after dark. It has six large and nine small ski lifts that take some 15,000 skiers per hour to the top of the Kotelnica and Bania mountain slopes. The longest route is 0.9 mile.
A thermal spa, built with a $26 million loan, opened this season, and a second hotel is under construction. All of them have created hundreds of jobs.
At the foot of the Kotelnica peak, the village of less than 2,000 residents now thrives on visitors who mostly lodge in private houses, eat at the inns and shop in newly built supermarkets. Some 10,000 tourists can be accommodated at a time.
All of Bialka and the entire county live off the ski resort, Piszczek said.
Bialka's reputation has spread across Poland's borders, with Russian, Ukrainian,It is the best time to be Moncler Aliso Chalet Down Coats Outlet sale. German and even English heard on the slopes, although not much foreign publicity has been done.
Vasyl Grib and his friends drove 600 miles from Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine.
"It has everything you need: many ski routes, good ski service, restaurants, good accommodation for every pocket," Grib said. "And it is cheaper than in Ukraine or in western Europe."

Sharks' road gets rough in loss to lowly Blue Jackets

On their longest trip of the season, the San Jose Sharks skidded into a roadside ditch.

San Jose was embarrassed, 6-3, on Tuesday night by the Columbus Blue Jackets — a team well-entrenched in the NHL's basement and one the Sharks thumped, 6-0, at HP Pavilion in late January. The loss dropped San Jose to 1-4-1 on its nine-game journey and its once healthy lead at the top of the Pacific Division has virtually disappeared.

The disappointing performance came the same night the Canadian sports network TSN reported the Sharks were "a strong contender" to land the big prize at the Feb. 27 trade deadline, Columbus captain Rick Nash. The price would not be cheap, but after a fourth consecutive loss, general manager Doug Wilson might be ready to do something dramatic.authentic canada goose coat

With or without Nash, the Sharks aren't in a good place.

"We've pretty much hit bottom now and hopefully we can dig our way out of it," captain Joe Thornton said, "because we're definitely in a race now to get into the playoffs."

While coach Todd McLellan was most concerned about his team's lack of urgency, San Jose's troubles also could be traced to undisciplined penalties that led directly to three Blue Jacket goals.

"Right now, as fragile as this team is, we can't take those undisciplined penalties," Thornton said.

Antti Niemi started the game in goal for the Sharks, but was gone after 15:18 of the first period after giving up three goals on 11 shots. Backup Thomas Greiss ended up taking the loss as Columbus center Jeff Carter's hat trick led a suddenly explosive Blue Jacket offense.

R.J. Umberger, canada goose jackets Nash and David Savard also scored for Columbus, while the Sharks got two goals from Logan Couture and one from Thornton.

Columbus jumped all over the Sharks early, holding a 4-0 lead after the first period. And two of those goals came on power plays after Joe Pavelski was sent to the box for showering Blue Jacket netminder Steve Mason with snow and Ryane Clowe earned two minutes for roughing while another fight was already going on.

Pavelski didn't like the call against him, but recognized his own responsibility.

"I think it's soft on my part and on the ref's part, but it's a judgment call," he said.authentic canada goose jackets "The game happens fast, the puck was kind of laying there, we all reached for it. " I guess you just can't give him any reason to call it."

Two goals 26 seconds apart — the first when Colin White's shot from the point went into the net off Thornton's skate at 5:11, the second on a 26-foot snap shot by Couture that Columbus goalie Steve Mason could only wave at — did make it a 4-2 game.

But Clowe overheated again just two minutes after Couture's goal. Called for cross-checking, Clowe earned another two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct when he slammed the penalty-box door so hard the boards rattled.

"It was a bad call on the penalty so I got upset," Clowe said.

San Jose did kill off 3:22 of the double minor, but Savard scored through traffic, and Columbus once again had a three-goal lead and all the momentum.

The teams traded goals in the third period — Carter notching his third on an easy tap-in, Couture getting his second on a power play by deflecting a shot from Pavelski — but the game was long-decided by then.

With 69 points, the Sharks are tied with the Phoenix Coyotes on top of the Pacific Division, but have two games in hand and one more victory. The Los Angeles Kings aren't far behind with 66 points.

"I don't know if some guys really understand where we are at this point in the season and how the season is dwindling quickly," McLellan said. "You can't just come to the rink and wear a jersey. You have to find a way to contribute. There's been a few that haven't lately and that'll be my job tomorrow. We'll address it in one-on-ones."

He noted that not everybody is playing with a lack of urgency, but that some players have been "missing in action" for a while now and that needs to change.

As for Clowe's costly lack of discipline in the second period, McLellan said he liked neither the call that led to the outburst nor the outburst itself.

"I'll talk to Clowe about it tomorrow, canada goose winter jackets but frustration seeps through a little bit there," McLellan said. "He was sent the message.cheap canada goose He wasn't put back on the ice for a little while. But in the same breath, he does take care of a lot of his teammates."

Thornton, like the coach, questioned the lack of urgency in the locker room.

"You can talk so much but it's up to that individual to come out and perform," he said. "This is why we get paid — to perform every night — and for whatever reason everybody's not on board."

McQ debuts in London with magical techno fairytale

Alexander McQueen launched the autumn/winter range for its McQ label in London on Monday, flaunting military-inspired twists on British design classics as a fairytale cottage pumped out techno beats.

For its cheaper, more wearable sister line McQ, the British fashion house teamed thickly belted trench coats with black furry neck mufflers, and English tweed overcoats with tartan and big army boots.canada goose parka

US Vogue editor Anna Wintour and Hollywood actress Salma Hayek were in the front row to see the diffusion line's first ever catwalk show, one of the most hotly anticipated events of London Fashion Week, which closes Wednesday.

Chunky leather belts toughened up feminine, A-line dresses in tulle and brocade for the women.

Layers of lace and netting, heart-shaped necklines, elbow-length gloves and skirts covered with embroidered flowers created a fairytale look echoed by a dreamy closing sequence.

Autumn leaves drifted under the spotlight onto a lone model in white tulle, who bent down to pick up a rope lying amid the wood chippings covering the catwalk.

As she followed the cord, the back wall of the minimalist venue rose to reveal a floodlit woodland scene featuring real trees and an ancient-looking cottage -- which proceeded to pulsate with strobe lighting and a throbbing beat.

For the men, their hair slicked neatly into 1940s-style side partings, cheap canada goose, canada goose sale cheap there were tweed trenches and bomber jackets, khaki army jumpers and leather ties.

A few gold chains glinted from their hips, but in a manner more suggestive of a dangling gentleman's pocket watch than of grunge rock.

Apart from a sequence of black dresses covered in multi-coloured flowers, the palette stayed muted, ranging from camouflage tones of brown and khaki to crimson and black brocade and forest greens.

There were also a few flashes of Black Watch regimental tartan, including a kilt teamed with a military jacket and a pleated sleeveless dress underlaid with lace.

The glitzy showmanship could not have contrasted more with McQueen's understated creative director Sarah Burton, who shuffled onto the catwalk in jeans at the end to give a sheepish wave.

Alexander McQueen himself committed suicide in 2010, but his designs remain hugely popular -- particularly since Burton designed the wedding dress of Prince William's bride Kate Middleton last year.

McQ, which was launched in 2006, opens its flagship store in London this spring. The main line Alexander McQueen collection will continue to show at Paris Fashion Week.authentic canada goose coat, canada goose winter jackets
