police are searching for a man — believed to have a gun — who failed at
three carjackings in a Target store parking lot Thursday afternoon.
The
first two victims escaped, while the third fled after trapping him in
her car by hitting a kill switch, police Lt. Leonard Mata said.
The man then smashed through a window and ran off.
The series of attempted carjackings was reported about 2:45 p.m. in the Target parking lot on El Camino Real near Vista Way.
All three victims were women. Two of them said the man had a gun.
Mata
said the women described the man as white, possibly in his 40s to 60s,
wearing a denim jacket and jeans. One victim said he wore a pink
undershirt. He is also said to have leathery skin and “gray, scraggly
hair,” Mata said.
The
lieutenant said the man approached the first victim and ordered her to
get back into the car, as if he were going to steal it with her inside.
She drove off.
The man approached a second woman and gave the same order,Cheap Yves Saint Laurent louis vuitton borse High Quality Replica Bags. Mata said. That woman ran into the store.
He
told the third victim to remove the car’s steering wheel lock and leave
the keys inside. She did, but she also,The high quality Canada Goose Banff Parka women will last you for seasons to come. unbeknownst to the man, flipped the kill switch on the car. She then ran away.
The
man got inside the car and tried to start it. But it did not start. And
the windows automatically locked, trapping the man inside, Mata said.
He broke a window to escape.
Female empowerment was the theme recently during "StudentWorks 12,Buy High Quality Canada Goose Men's Tremblant Jacket Online ." a dance concert presented by the Fontana A.B. Miller High School Dance and Conservancy Programs.
Five
Miller students served as choreographers for the show, creating
performances that focused on girls and women overcoming various
obstacles.
One of the choreographers, Crystal Edwards, entitled her piece "They Were Blind."
"It's about two different types of women -- one being controlled by men and the other being free-willed," she said.
During a struggle between a man and a woman, background dancers helped set the woman free from her oppressor.
Similarly,
in Abigail Dixon's piece, "Facing What's to Come," a woman is
constrained by a jacket before being able to get away from it with the
help of other women.
"It shows the restrictions that a lady has to carry throughout her life,Latest Discount moncler jackets men Online!" Dixon said.Scarpe Hogan Interactive 2012 Donna Marrone replica shoes Outlet .
"Silence," which dealt with parents trying to control their daughters, was choreographed by Angelika Lopez.
"It's about women instead going for their own dreams and own goals instead of going through their parents," Lopez said.
Two other choreographers looked back at historical incidents.
Khanh
Luu created "The Pace of Life," which examined the plight of children
who were forced into labor to support their families because of poverty
in the early 1900s.
"The psychological impact on the maturity of children was greatly impaired," Luu said. "They were forced to grow up quickly."

Mission engaged young women
To portray Fannie Winner at the Clark County
Heritage Center on Saturday, Pat Baker donned Victorian clothing of the sort
Winger might have worn when she founded the Young Woman's Mission in 1898.
She also pored through the YWM archives to connect with the true character of the women who started mission work 114 years ago and were remembered at Saturday's tea party for current members.
“These were all women from comfortable homes who had no idea what poverty was or how the other half lived,” Baker said.
The fact that they boldly went where no other women had gone, “that's the most impressive thing,” she said.
The YWM story has its particulars: Grateful for her recovery from a lengthy illness, Winger organized it “for the sole purpose of benefiting the sick poor of our city in whatever way might suggest itself,” according to minutes from the founding meeting.
But Molly Wood, associate professor of history at Wittenberg University, said Winger and her compatriots acted at a time when women throughout the country were taking action.
“Because women were still largely excluded from formal political processes,” Wood said, “they increasingly formed alternative organizations … to propel themselves into public life.”
Leading them on the national level, explained Wood, was “a small but influential cadre of women trained in law, economics, etc.Their presentation revolved around fancy shirts with jeans, skirts, moncler jackets men and others. and especially the ‘new' discipline of social work,” fields available to them because of recent access to information.
Virginia Weygandt, director of collections at the Clark County Historical Society, said women were drawn to social issues because they knew the importance of the home to the larger society and vice versa.
Still not everyone was pleased that the women were venturing outside of the home.
Hearing mission members had called on a woman with TB who shared a room with a male border, one woman refused to join, fearing for her reputation.
And in 1934, some members feared for their safety.
The YWM volunteers who staffed the Mother's Clinic when it opened on Feb. 19, 1935, “actually expected to be arrested,” said mission member Margie Baldwin.
Their courage was needed to face another challenge, too: keeping expenses at less than $100 a month, “$85, if possible,” Baldwin reported.
Years later, mission member Dr. E. Sue Miller ran the clinic, which Planned Parenthood now operates in the Park Shopping Center with mission support.
Miller's contributions are remembered with an annual scholarship to a second-year female medical student. Baldwin said members also remember the 1935 case of a woman married 22 years, who had endured 21 pregnancies, had 11 living children and the memories of two stillbirths and eight miscarriages.
One of the mission's fundraising traditions was a charity ball, the first held Nov. 6, 1899, at the Arcade Hotel. Tickets were $1.50 and Gov. and Mrs. Asa Bushnell led the grand march.
The last dance was held in 1980 at Memorial Hall, said member Rosie Anderson, who fondly remembers the events. It's no longer something women wear to make a statement. Paired with duvetica down jackets and black tights.
“We always had Ohio Edison hang all the lights from the ceiling,” she said. “They really made it look like a winter wonderland.”
The sandwich committee worked in advance, packing the sandwiches into shirt boxes from the fashionable Vogue Shop and storing them in the freezer at W.R. Hackett's until the dance.
“We always had it between Christmas and New Year's. Sometime's we'd go in our long gowns with our snow boots on,” Anderson said.
She particularly recalls chairing the 1976 ball, when the Memorial Hall furnace gave out, and the fur jacket and posh outwear became fashionable indoors.
Similarly,Palazzos, a multi-layer skirt and a canada goose parka jacket for men. Jane Warbington shares the story of a woman who drove her car through the front door of the mission's Nearly New Shop shortly after shopping at the 923 W. Main St. thrift store.

The car “made a hairpin turn, went out in the street and went into the shop,With raw silk saris worn under cropped canada goose jackets and thin belts.” recalled Warbington, who was in the building at the time. “If it hadn't been for some steps, that car would had probably gone through the shop and back to the railroad.”

Does ABC's 'Nashville' Reflect 'The End of Men'?
Country superstar Rayna James is
racing around her well-decorated mansion, chasing after her two daughters and
taking pins out of her hair. "Teddy, a little help please!" she yells. Her
husband swoops up the kids, preparing for a night of baths and bedtimes, while
Rayna gets ready to perform for hundreds of screaming fans. It's clear from the
first 30 seconds of ABC's "Nashville" who has more power in the country star's
marriage. Rayna James (Connie Britton of "Friday Night Lights" and "American
Horror Story") is not just the star of this television show, she's the family
breadwinner.
There are a lot of things about "Nashville" that make it worth watching -- its interesting take on female rivalry, its not-terrible original music, the fact that it's set in Nashville and its female-centric storyline involving Britton's Rayna and her young, pop-country sensation rival Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere).
But there's one more noteworthy aspect of the show: how its powerhouse female characters relate to the men in their lives. On "Nashville," gender dynamics are in flux. The setting is a post-recession world where women have increasingly become the primary breadwinners, large numbers of men have stagnated professionally and who holds the power -- financial, emotional, sexual -- in relationships isn't predetermined. In short, "Nashville" looks a whole lot like the present reality journalist Hanna Rosin described in her September 2012 book "The End Of Men."
Rayna's relationships with her husband Teddy (Eric Close) and her bandleader Deacon (Charles Esten) are the most obvious examples of the show's upended gender dynamics. Teddy is a stay-at-home dad whose career went bust during the recession, turning their family into a "cash poor" single-income household. While Rayna tours and performs, Teddy takes responsibility over many of the everyday domestic duties.
Teddy isn't some doltish dad we're invited to laugh at because "OMG he's a dude taking care of kids." He clearly cares for his children and is perfectly capable of fulfilling his domestic responsibilities. The "less than" feeling that he has about his role as the not-breadwinner is primarily self-imposed. When his kids complain about their mother leaving to perform, he explains her absence, "Someone's gotta work around here." He tells Rayna in the first episode, "I know I've let you down. I'm sorry as hell about that," then adds, "I'm not the first guy to go bust." We can see that Teddy is a great dad and partner, but he sees himself as a failure.
It turns out that his sense of inadequacy and the uneven power dynamics are a major source of stress in the marriage. During the pilot, Rayna's label threatens to stop promoting her new record, and her power-brokering, businessman father, Lamar Wyatt, offers Teddy the chance to run for political office. "Do you understand the kind of power you'll have?" he asks Teddy, dangling before his son-in-law the promise of a more traditionally masculine role. When Teddy entertains the offer, Rayna is less than understanding. "You want me to just take some time off so I can stand on the side of the stage and smile and shake hands?" she screams. "You want to tell me something about standing on the stage that I don't already know?" Teddy retorts. "How about letting me step into the limelight for a change?"
The other man in Rayna James' life, Deacon, her ex-lover, bandleader and confidante, is also less successful than Rayna by conventional measures. He's single, his songs have never been hits -- "It is available in antique stores here and there," he says wryly when speaking about his first record -- and he only has a job if he's involved with Rayna or Juliette's tour. We learn that he's "the best" bandleader out there, yet he's never really been able to make it on his own. Even in the stereotypically male-dominated south, the women surrounding Deacon hold the cards in his professional and romantic lives.
Juliette Barnes embodies a different, younger female archetype that's emerged amid the changing gender dynamics of the last 20 years. She has an insanely successful career at a young age and doesn't apologize to anyone for that success (many have compared the character to Taylor Swift, although Juliette has none of Swift's bubble-gum persona). She's unabashedly aggressive -- both sexually and professionally, often blending the two without thinking twice. She's the girl who came of age at the height of hook-up culture and is still embracing that mentality,She pinned together blue broadcloth strips, the start of sleeves for canada goose parka jackets jacket. achieving varying degrees of emotional and sexual fulfillment. In "The End Of Men," Rosin writes: "Young women may be less vulnerable than ever but that does not mean they experience that as empowerment ... Ultimately the desire for a deeper human connection always wins out,Nova Leather showcased outfits of leather featuring skirt, top, shirts, moncler jackets men and others. for both men and women."
The "deeper connection" part seems to be what Juliette still struggles with. At times her ambition borders on manipulation, and she uses sex to avoid dealing with her demons, rather than confronting them. In one telling scene, one of the men Juliette is sleeping with finds her crying on the phone in a closet at the recording studio. Instead of explaining what's wrong, she grabs him by the jacket and pulls him into the closet with her, starting to make out with him before her tears have dried.
"Nashville" also highlights the idea that as professionally successful as many women have become, we don't live in a matriarchy. Rayna and Juliette are talented, accomplished and adaptable, but they're still beholden to others,He presented his work through the outfits moncler coats, and shirts of colours counting blue, green, dark green and sky blue. namely their parents and those at the top of the country music industry. The characters with the greatest amount of traditional power -- Lamar Wyatt and the head of Rayna and Juliette's label, Marshall Evans, are men, just as outside of TVLand, most Fortune 500 CEOs and government officials are still male.
Rosin herself has said that we often use mediums like television to work out our collective feelings about changing gender roles. "Pop culture is like our subconscious," she told the Washington Post in September. "There are two cultural areas where I feel like we are working out how we feel about masculinity and feminism. Dominant, aggressive women -- how much can we handle women in power? I think pop culture has been throwing that at us for the last year ... Then,The cream suit featured a fitted, canada goose parka with a zip front and a matching skirt . how much can we accept a domesticated man who's not emasculated?"
"Nashville" highlights the ways in which we're still figuring out the answers to these questions. Marriage, sex and work are changing all around us, and the show mirrors those changes back to us -- just with more rhinestones, love triangles and twang.
