Crew's Jenna Lyons and her girlfriend, jewelry executive Courtney
Crangi, posed for a photo together in V. Although Crangi and Lyons have
been going to more events together recently — including the Vanity Fair
Oscar party — this is their first portrait for a magazine. V writes that
they behaved on set like "two teenagers in love." Lyons, whose marriage
to artist Vincent Mazeau ended in divorce last year, says of Crangi,
"For me the best thing is knowing that someone really has your back.
Like no matter what happens she has my best interests at heart. I think
there are a few moments in life where that actually happens, and that
feels, like, completely true and real."
Apparently,
Anne Hathaway changed her dress at the last minute before the Oscars
because she learned that Amanda Seyfried was going to wear an Alexander
McQueen dress that was similar-looking to Hathaway's chosen Valentino.
According to a "source," Hathaway "freaked out" when she saw Seyfried's
dress and had stylist Rachel Zoe call in "a bunch of different dresses
hours before the show." The Valentino dress that Anne Hathaway did not
wear, if you care, might have been a version of one from the brand's
spring, 2012, couture collection, which indeed is made from a fabric
that resembles Seyfried's.
Alexa
Chung says that when she posed for the Little Black Jacket Chanel photo
book, Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld tried to give her a beard.
"Karl came up with the idea," Chung explains. "I thought 'ok', and I sat
down and [makeup artist] Peter [Philips] said, 'So. We're going to make
the brow stronger, and we were thinking stubble for the face.' And I
was like: 'Can we all STOP thinking stubble for the face?' But they
decided to give it a go. I looked like Oliver Twist...They thought I'd
be down for it, they thought I'd think it was funny, but I was like 'not
if Dakota Fanning is being Marilyn Monroe.'"

"We

whether he still had a friendship with Stewart. "I told my team to

It's been successful."
Lundgren also testified about the December, 2011,The Canada Goose Constable Parka is a stylish down jacket made in Canada. phonecall from Stewart that informed him of the J.C. Penney deal:

Stewart was "reading a document" that sounded like it was "prepared by

When Stewart told him the deal "would be good for Macy's,The Canada Goose Victoria Parka is

Stewart shared confidential and proprietary information with Penneys,
such as the thread counts of Martha Stewart-branded sheets. The lawyer
showed Lundgren that the thread counts were published on Macy's own
public Web site. "Anything between Macy's and Martha Stewart should be
considered confidential," said Lundgren. Developing.Womens Canada Goose Kensington Parka Hyacinth.

Blackface costume for Purim party backfires on N.Y. lawmaker
A
prominent New York assemblyman is facing one of the most awkward
battles of his long political career: trying to quell anger over having
dressed in blackface for a costume party celebrating the Jewish holiday
of Purim, complete with dark face paint and a large Afro wig.
Dov Hikind, who represents the 48th District in Brooklyn and was first elected in 1982, apologized Monday after photographs of his outfit surfaced on the Web, sounding exasperated at the criticism but conceding it might not have been the best choice of costume for a politician.
"Yes, I wore a costume on Purim and hosted a party," Hikind, an Orthodox Jew, wrote in a message posted on his blog.
"This is political correctness to the absurd. There is not a prejudiced bone in my body,Women Canada Goose Resolute Parka." Hikind added of the ensuing criticism.
But later, outside his Brooklyn home, he told reporters that it never crossed his mind "for a split second that it was wrong. I'm sorry that individuals ..The Canada Goose Victoria Parka is simple, yet classic, and designed to be worn where extreme weather protection is a necessity.. out there were offended." Hikind added that nobody at the party,Shop the latest collection of monster beats cheap from the most popular stores . held Sunday to mark the Jewish holiday, appeared upset by his costume.
The New York Observer quoted Hikind as saying it was put together with the help of a professional makeup artist who came Womens Canada Goose Kensington Parka Hyacinth.to his home for the annual event. Hikind said his goal was to emulate "maybe some of these basketball players," and to be unrecognizable to guests, the Observer said. "It was just a lot of fun. Everybody just had a very, very good time and every year I do something else. ... The fun for me is when people come in and don't recognize me," Hikind told the newspaper.
Hikind's critics, though, say he was insensitive to his black constituents and also was being hypocritical, because Hikind earlier this month criticized fashion designer John Galliano for stepping out in what appeared to be a Hasidic Jewish outfit during New York City's Fashion Week. Photographs of Galliano, who was famously fired from Dior in 2011 after an anti-Semitic rant in a Paris cafe, showed the designer wearing the hat, the long, curled hair known as sidelocks, and shoes and a jacket reminiscent of traditional Hasidic men's clothing.
"Are you mocking us?" Hikind asked indignantly of the outfit, according to the New York Post.
The assemblyman's district includes Borough Park, home to the largest population of Orthodox Jews outside of Israel.
Hikind, a Democrat, is a vocal supporter of efforts to fight anti-Semitism, anti-Jewish hate crimes, and anti-Israeli sentiment, and describes himself as a staunch supporter of human rights and an opponent of discrimination. But he has angered critics by backing legislation that permits racial and ethnic profiling in anti-terrorism efforts and by opposing same-sex marriage.
Karim Camara, who chairs the Democratic-controlled Assembly's Black, Hispanic, Puerto Rican and Asian caucus, said Hikind's costume showed a lack of empathy for other racial groups being used as tools for humor.
"The history of the blackface minstrel show is something deeply painful in the African American community," said Camara, whose Brooklyn district includes some predominantly African American neighborhoods. One of them, Crown Heights, was the scene of bloody rioting in 1991 stemming from tensions between the black and Orthodox Jewish communities.
"It brings back the memories of African Americans being reduced to ‘buffoonery' just to gain access to the entertainment industry," Camara said of Hikind's costume.
The Assembly speaker, Sheldon Silver, also criticized the costume choice as "offensive."
Hikind's son, Yoni Hikind, who posted the photograph of his father that sparked the controversy, posted a message on Facebook defending his dad and saying he "doesn't have a prejudice[d] bone in his body. The Canada Goose Constable Parka is a stylish down jacket made in Canada."
"Was it a wise move to dress in a way that could be taken offensively? Prob not," Yoni Hikind wrote. "But the fact is, that there wasn't the slightest idea that someone would be offended by his costume."
The assemblyman, meanwhile, says he already is thinking ahead to next year's Purim costume. "I was actually going to do Indians next year ... but I don't want to offend Indians," he said Monday.

College of Visual Arts supporters aim to avert closing; Northrop 're-branding'
Is there a chance the College of Visual Arts will survive? The late January announcement that the 89-year-old St. Paul institution will close its doors on June 30 came as a shock to many. A group calling itself CVA Action, which formed soon after the announcement, is not yet ready to give up.Buy the most favourable Canada Goose Mystique Parka Spirit Mens light weight quick drying Karen Millen Dresses. The group includes alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and community members “dedicated to searching out and presenting alternative solutions” to the closing.” So far, it has raised more than $55,000. A benefit Friday at the Amsterdam will feature the old-timey jug band Roe Family Singers and the Irish rock band the Tim Malloys. 7-9:30 p.m., $10 cover. Both mnartists.org and the Daily Planet have good background on CVA and the closing.

Mark Sweeney has five reasons to catch this performance:

2. Snider's song cycle has been given universal acclaim. Pitchfork called it ‘a hauntingly vivid psychological portrait.'
3. After listening to ‘Penelope,' I would encourage anyone who is looking for a fresh take on chamber music to check it out. Worden, as Odysseus' wife, grounds this moody, cinematic piece of musical storytelling.
4. Aside from the Midwest premiere of Snider's song cycle, the evening will feature works by Worden's band My Brightest Diamond and yMusic. All three deserve their own concerts, so to see them collaborate will be well worth a trip through the winter's night.

Behind the Badge: Patrol officer makes daily transformation from Dad to cop
Joshua Robinson prepares for his day long before the sun - or his kids - decide to rise.
Up by 4 a.m., he starts the transformation from dad to cop with a run, because staying in shape could save his life or someone else's.
When getting dressed for work after his run, he wears an undershirt beneath the required bulletproof vest.Long and slim-fitting, the Canada Goose Montebello is equally appropriate for strolling a city street or hiking a snowy trail. It helps soak up some of the sweat, making the heavy vest - which feels like a "straight jacket with a metal plate in it" - a little more comfortable.
Over the vest goes his wrinkle-free uniform, a representation of the profession everyone needs and many fear.
He completes the transition after he tracks down all the pieces that fill his 20-pound duty belt - the flashlight his daughter played with the night before, the handcuffs his sons love to be cuffed with and the magazine pouch and gun carefully hidden away from little, curious fingers.
By 6 a.m., Robinson is seated in the Victoria Police Department patrol car that will be his office for the next 12 hours - complete with a computer, radio, shotgun secured overhead and the "Oh S--t" button to radio dispatch in case things get ugly.
He spends his day at the beck and call of the community - responding to everything from noise complaints to shootings.
"You can go from a dead body scene that is really gruesome and nasty to a community contact call. .we offer kinds of discount gucci handbags Pro Headphones online . So you have to maintain that professionalism, yet you may still be disturbed from the last scene you were at. So you kind of have to be an actor," Robinson said.
And the acting doesn't end when he goes home, because most people, like his family, shouldn't have to deal with the dark side of Victoria.
Robinson is one of hundreds of public servants who quietly provide for Victoria every day. The four-part series "Behind the Badge" takes a look at the lives of these men and women.

The long road to Ottawa
Getting
to Ottawa from a comfortable country cottage in northern England on my
own was fairly easy in 1978. After flying into New York to spend a day
in the world's greatest city, I caught a Greyhound out of the 42nd
street bus station. While waiting for the bus, a nice man tried to sell
me dope, and I certainly looked like one in a leather-elbowed ratty
sports jacket. After hearing my refusal in a Liverpudlian accent, he
asked me how the Queen was. I replied that she was doing fine last time I
saw her.
On the trip up to Ottawa, a man across the aisle was eating dog food out of a tin, and the driver told me going for a walk was not a good idea when we were in Rochester station. Better to stay on the bus. Much later, in the dark, we crossed the canal and I saw people walking past midnight in shorts.we offer kinds of discount gucci handbags Pro Headphones online . We pulled into Catherine Street, the doors hissed open, and my new life began.
For a great many of my fellow citizens, the journey was not that easy.
Not by a long streak. I will admit that I often want to go up to people when I am doing my historical walks, or at a crowded event, and ask them how they got to Ottawa.
Sometimes I do. When it does come up in tavern conversation, the “how I got here” stories invariably contain some harrowing details, and usually end with an expression, large or small, of gratitude at being where they are now and not where they were. Every now and then in the column I'd like to pass on one of these stories, of how your neighbours came to be alongside. We begin with Nooshin.
Nooshin, a slight woman with doe-like features, was born in Tabriz, the youngest daughter of an army man. The family spoke Turkish at home. When she was one, the family moved to Tehran and she learnt to speak the Persian language, Farsi.
Growing up in a middle-class family, Nooshin quickly learned that she was a book lover, and learning to write stories came soon after learning to read. Together with six other budding authors, while still attending a high school for bright students,Buy the most favourable Canada Goose Mystique Parka Spirit Mens light weight quick drying Karen Millen Dresses. she joined what we would call a writers' group, similar to the Burning Rock gang from Newfoundland, and the Quanglos from Quebec. It was men and women. The group was led by a famous poet — poets are higher up the social ladder than they are here — and her skill at writing blossomed.Long and slim-fitting, the Canada Goose Montebello is equally appropriate for strolling a city street or hiking a snowy trail. Her short stories appeared in literary magazines; she was on her way.
Revolution fermented through 1978, when Nooshin was 16, and in the January of 1979 Shah Reza Pahlavi, after 38 years of increasingly vicious and tenuous rule, into which he was installed and had his strings pulled by the Brits and the Yanks, fled. The country shifted from a propped up monarchy to an initially hugely popular theocracy, and the dos and don'ts of daily life exploded in number.
(The poet, Kasrai, escaped, eventually to Germany.) Included in them was the reading of certain books. Then one of the writers' group was lifted, interrogated and named the others.
The authorities came, according to the time-honoured rules of oppression drama, in the middle of the night. After a disruptive search of the house, Nooshin was put into a car, which drove away from her pleading parents and siblings and to the Evin prison. The prison carried the nickname the Evin University because of the number of intellectuals housed there, both under the Shah and the theocracy. There they put her in a cell with five other women, two of whom had children with them. After one month of seeing nobody from the outside she was given the new clothes her parents had sent.
After two months of frequent interrogation, Nooshin's name was called and she and another girl were told to go out in the yard and sit and await questioning. Instead, for a reason she has never discovered, she was put into a cab, driven to central Tehran, and told to get out.
For five years after her release Nooshin was not permitted to work, or attend university, or have a passport. Seven years including two years of non-stop paperwork passed before, sponsored by her brother, an environmental engineer,Read 16 independent user reviews and compare prices on the Men's HyBridge Jacket. who had managed to get to Canada, she came with her parents. They stayed six months then returned. Nooshin remained.
Knowing that the pharmaceutical industry — there is gold in them there pills — was forever expanding, she trained as a pharmacist in Saskatchewan, and worked there as one for several years, married, divorced.
They stayed six months then returned. Nooshin remained.
Knowing that the pharmaceutical industry — there is gold in them there pills — was forever expanding, she trained as a pharmacist in Saskatchewan, and worked there as one for several years, married, divorced.
