Boys golf: Miners roll, repeat as Division I North champs (watch video)

Fellow high school golfers weren’t the only opponents at the Division I North Region boys golf championship at Red Hawk’s Lakes Course on Monday and Tuesday.

Steady rain, cool wind,Shop the latest from Michael Kors Handbags. Totally free shipping and returns. temperatures in the low 50s and even a 45-minute lightning delay on Monday required golfers to keep their focus. And no one did that better than the Bishop Manogue Miners who took a 61-shot victory over Reno and won their second straight regional title at Red Hawk’s soggy par-72 track (6,653 yards).

Miners finished 1-2-3 — Harrison Holetz as the medalist at 3-over-par 147, followed by Jens Verhey and first-day leader Nick Turner at 149— as the tournament went to a shotgun start for the first time in at least 10 years. Verhey finished second by way of a scorecard tiebreaker.

Manogue didn’t put up the gaudy numbers it did a year ago at Dayton Valley, when it set a regional record with a 25-over-par 745 in winning by 65 strokes, but it still lapped the competition.

The Miners’ team total of 767 was tied for the 14th best team score in state history, and the Miners did it with one junior (Verhey), four sophomores (among them Holetz and Turner) and a freshman (Michael Bove).Welcome to our michael kors outlet online shop! “The kids did it,” said Manogue coach Chris Trevino, who also runs Trevino Golf Institute. “They know how to play, and even though the conditions were bad, they kept the double bogeys off the card and found a way to get the ball in the hole.”

Manogue and Reno will represent the Division I North Region in the NIAA Division I state tournament at Sierra Sage next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Joining them will be six individuals (top five plus a tie) — Damonte Ranch’s Joshua Ralph (151) and Julius Lorentzen (155),Find a great selection of christian louboutin boots deals ! Galena’s Narayan Gill (155), Reed’s Trevor Wood (158), Spanish Springs’ Matt Perera (161) and Douglas’ Shane Pyle (161).

Four Miners finished among the top seven with Bove finishing seventh. You will get compliments on how elegant these replica hublot watches look. And that was with a gimpy Stephen Osborne, a sophomore who ricocheted a golf ball off a rock and then his ankle last week and didn’t play to his potential, finishing 20th. Karl Beidle, Manogue’s fourth sophomore, tied for 19th. Holetz, Turner and Osborne were all named to the Sierra League first team last year.

Holetz was three shots behind Turner after Monday’s first round. He started the second round Tuesday on the 11th hole and opened his round with six birdies in his first 12 holes to move into the lead. He shot a tournament-best two-under 70, matched only by Damonte Ranch’s Ralph, who also had his 70 in the second round.Shop our selection of designer shoes, including Manolo Blahnik, christian louboutin shoes.

There were only three sub-par rounds in the tournament (Verhey’s 71 in the second round).

“It’s great,” Holetz said of winning. “Playing alongside Nick is always a pleasure. He’s a great kid. I always want the best for him. I was just going to go out there and play for myself and not worry about what anyone else is shooting. ... I ended up shooting a good score. It always feels good to win.”

Holetz said the weather played in his favor.

“The rain makes the greens a lot softer and the fairways a lot softer, so you can go over the bunkers and attack the pins,” he said. “I always feel like I can play good in the rain. I fee like I can keep my composure and hit some good shots.”

Trevino wasn’t surprised to see him play well, either.

“He’s been trending in the right direction for a while,” Trevino said. “He’s starting to make some birdies and even some eagles. I expect big things out of him, and I know he’s going to do well.”

The Division I North (formerly Northern 4A) will be looking for its first state title since Spanish Springs won in 2009.

“We’re a great team and we’re only going to get better with experience,” Holetz said. “... Sierra Sage is a short course. It’s very getable. We’ve played it a lot. That gives us quite an advantage. We have a very good chance of pulling it out next week.”

Local letter carriers stick together through Postal Service upheaval

Jeff Connell knows the name of nearly every resident in the 65203 ZIP code.

He knows the worn wooden porch with the wide awning on Spring Valley Road is home to two children and twice as many bikes. He knows the owner of the adult video store on Walnut Street loves Canon cameras. He knows what time the residents of Crestmere Avenue slide up their automatic garage doors and leave for work. He’s even been known to recognize lost dogs and deliver them to their own yards.

The residents know him, too. They know peanut butter cookies are his favorite. They know the birthday of his 17-year-old daughter, Danielle. They call him "Monkeyman" because of the tattoo on his left shoulder.

The familiarity is built on thousands of visits, week after week, year after year.

For almost three decades, Connell, 48, has delivered 3,000 to 4,000 pieces of mail each day to local businesses, houses and apartment buildings.

Despite massive technological upheaval and financial chaos that threaten the future of the U.S. Postal Service, Connell’s routine has remained relatively unaffected.

He uses the same mailbag he carried on his first day on the job 28 years ago, the navy cloth now strained and gaping with holes. His routes have expanded but have stayed consistent enough that he has watched children grow from their birth announcements to high school graduation invitations.

“We are part of the community,” Connell said. “It’s what we do. When I adopted my daughter, I took a week off. When I came back there were presents, like tiny pink sleepers and blankets. People on my routes had been shopping for the mailman.”

Mail funnels into Columbia through the giant processing center near the Columbia Regional Airport. We offer Cheap Michael Kors Handbags Outlet Sale with top quality and discount price. There, it is sorted, organized and trucked to two post offices: Tiger Station on 3212 Lemone Industrial Blvd., which delivers to zip codes 65201 and 65202, as well as the main post office downtown at 511 E Walnut St., which delivers to zip codes 65203 to 65218.

More than 100,000 letters, packages and flats – the Postal Service’s term for large envelopes, magazines and advertisement mail – are sifted each day at the downtown post office where Connell works, general clerk Howard Hutton said.Shop our selection of designer shoes, including Manolo Blahnik, christian louboutin shoes.

Connell and other postal employees, like clerks and supervisors, are called “one touch” workers. It’s an appropriate description for the people who literally touch every piece of mail by hand, moving it across the city from bin to truck to mailbox. The term is used to distinguish them from those in managerial positions who rarely come in contact with the tide of incoming and outgoing mail.

In the mornings, letter carriers sort and arrange their bundles for about two hours before hopping in their trucks. If you want to Buy Cheap Hermes Birkin with Guaranteed Quality, you're advised to visit hermes handbags store Store. Technology has sped up the process — but only human touch can correct the missed addresses and sorting errors made by machines.

The letter carriers touch family Christmas cards, crates of cheeping chicks, bouquets of roses and glossy coupon sheets. And, in Connell’s case, bees.

“I have had to deliver bees more than a couple of times,” he said. “Once, there was a hole in the crate and there were bees flying everywhere. I made sure to deliver that as quickly as I could to get them out of the car. I’ve also delivered snakes, ashes from the crematorium and coconuts.”

On a Tuesday in early spring, Connell’s cargo was a bit more mysterious.

He dislodged a thin, oblong box from the back of his truck, stopping to check the address before shoving it in his mailbag. A corner of the package fell through a gaping hole in the bottom of his bag. Walking into Jerry's Instrument Repair Shop, Connell speculated on its contents.

“It’s probably a trumpet,” he said, giving the box a slight shake. “Or maybe a trombone?”

He handed the package to the shop owner, pausing to scan its bar code, an extra step for insured deliveries. The machine spit out a string of high-pitched squeals.

“It’s saying, ‘Don’t rush me. I’m a 1995 version,’” Connell joked to the shop owner.

The man meticulously signed his name on the blinking screen and then reached for a pair of scissors to open the box. Inside: a violin.

In 1958, jeweler Harry Winston wrapped the Hope Diamond in brown paper and mailed it from New York City to Washington, D.C., for $2.44. The jewel was a present to the Smithsonian Institution.

He delivered it through the Postal Service because he had more faith in it than any special guards, WinstDiscover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women.on is quoted as saying in a Nov. 24, 1958, issue of Life Magazine.

Today, you can still mail a precious item and have it moved by hand across the country. An independent federal agency, the Postal Service has both public service duties, such as delivering mail to every resident, and special rights, such as the exclusive right to carry first-class mail. This includes letters, postcards, large envelopes and small packages weighing less than 13 ounces.

The Style Shrinks

LAST October, Mumbai-based entrepreneur Kushal Chudiwala and his wife showcased their range of handbags and accessories at a multi-brand exhibition in Pune. A group of young women insisted on purchasing the samples. "Upon going through the different styles and colours in our lookbook, the women realised that customisation is a good option," says Chudiwala, who returned from the exhibition with several orders.

This encouraged Chudiwala — who heads Veda Lifestyles, manufacturer and supplier of handbags and accessories to several retail chains — to launch Toteteca. An e-retail website that sells customised bags, Toteteca allows customers to pick almost every detail, from the colour and monogram to the length of the handle, from a preset selection of options. They are reasonably priced, with the range starting at Rs 900 and going up to Rs 3,400.

Movie stylist Mehma Tibb, who has worked on films such as Cocktail (with Anaita Shroff Adajania) and Bachna Ae Haseeno, customises leather jackets for both men and women. No two pieces are alike and she factors in preferences for pockets, metallic linings and chunky zippers among other details.

Customisation bridges the gap between the local tailor and the high-end brand. "Enterprises such as ours cater to the middle segment," says Chudiwala. If you want to Buy Cheap Hermes Birkin with Guaranteed Quality, you're advised to visit hermes handbags store Store. Tibb says that for the quality and materials bespoke offers, it is usually value-for-money. "Real leather is expensive and isn't easily available in Mumbai. After customisation, my jackets start at Rs 15,000" says Tibbs, who has celebrity clients such as VJs Juhi Pandey, Andy and musician Ankur Tewari.

Sandeep Gonsalves of SSHomme, says that the variety of fabrics they offer is their strength. "We work with fabric brands such as Dormeuil (England/France), Vitale Bareberis Canonico (Italy) and Loro Piana (Italy) without charging as much as designers do," he says.

Bespoke fashion isn't focussed on women alone. Like SSHomme, there are several other enterprises that caters to the male client. While some follow the tradition of an appointment, a few others have gone online. Helmed by Sandeep Gonsalves and Sara Sheikh, SSHomme falls in the former category even as enterprises such as Bombay Shirts Company, Tailor Man and Mr Button belong to the latter. Gonsalves says, "During the first trial,Discover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women. the customer gets an idea about the look and feel of the raw garment without lining; at the next, the client tries out the garment after it has been stitched. The mayor of a storm-wrecked Jersey shore town said Monday that England’s Prince Harry will visit next week before heading to a news conference nearby.

Mantoloking Mayor George Nebel said Monday that Harry, an heir to the British throne, will take a short walk along Barnegat Lane, along the town’s bay front, during a brief visit on May 14. The prince will accompany Gov. Chris Christie to Seaside Heights afterward.

During a council meeting held in Point Pleasant Beach because Mantoloking’s municipal building was wrecked by the storm and attended by The Associated Press, Nebel revealed part of the prince’s itinerary for his visit to the U.S. East Coast.

“Security for this visit is being handled by the U.S. State Department so most of you won’t get anywhere near” the prince, Nebel told residents.

The prince and Christie are scheduled to take “a brief walk” along the roadway, which is in the less-seriously damaged section of the borough.

“He wanted to see the hardest-hit town in New Jersey,” Nebel said. “He’ll arrive by car, walk along the road to see 10 houses, back in the car with the governor and gone.”

Mantoloking was the Jersey shore town hit hardest by Superstorm Sandy, which was spawned in late October when Hurricane Sandy merged with two other weather systems. Every one of its 521 homes was damaged or destroyed, and the storm surge split the narrow borough in half, cutting between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay a new channel that took a massive emergency construction project to fill in.

Shinan: This time, it’s ‘personal’ at The Carlu

Well, that was one way of ringing in a decennary: iPads at the entrance.

“Those certainly weren’t around for the grand opening,” I remarked, as attendants holding gizmos greeted us at Yonge and College, in Toronto, last Friday. Where, oh where, have all the clipboard girls gone?

Inside, at one of the season’s big bashes – held to celebrate the decade-turn of The Carlu – it wasn’t just the check-in iPads that differentiated the party that took place to mark the ritzy restoration of the celebrated hall 10 years ago (approximately 124 years in socialite-time) Here, tonight, I also detected liquid nitrogen avocado ice cream with trout roe (courtesy of L-eat Catering) – a bit of molecular hocus-pocus that had yet to fully find its voice back in 2003. At one point, as the crowd surged on this night, and the entrances were made – there was celebrated coiffeur Robert Gage, for instance, with notably more hair on his own head that he had in 2003, and newbie scene-hostages like It Girl Jen Kirsch – the chantings of Lady Gaga were heard overheard.Welcome to order your own Michael Kors Handbags Outlet on sale with 100% guarantee quality and low price. In 2003, Gaga was nada, and Christina Aguilera, if I do recall, was very busy singing about being Beautiful.

“So nervous,” admitted Jeffry Roick, one of the magicians behind The Carlu. He, together with business partner Mark Robert, famously rebooted the historic art modenre venue from the 1930s on, where the likes of Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Glenn Gould once made cameos. Ten years ago, this month, le tout Toronto came out to see its classic Art Moderne resurrection, and here now, the place stood, after having seen more than 1650 events in those 3650 days.

190 weddings. 135 charity functions. 160 award dinners. 25 bar/bat mitzvahs. So, why nervous, Mr. Roick?

“I do this all the time,” the party architect explained, but “this is personal.”

Somewhere, up there, Lady Flora McCrea Eaton was, perhaps, smiling. The matriarch of the dynamic Eaton clan was, after all, the one who initially retained famed French architect French Carlu to design what was then the seventh floor edifice of Eaton’s, on College Street (in the process,If you want to Buy Cheap Hermes Birkin with Guaranteed Quality, you're advised to visit hermes handbags store Store. slapping his name on the the place!)

These days, it isn’t a rarity to see one of Flora’s descendants – bright young thing, Cleophee Eaton – at any number of charitable affairs that happen not irreguarly at The Carlu. In fact, one never knows who one will eye-spy – in recent years, the Toronto spot has welcomed Brad Pitt … Oscar de la Renta … Gordon Ramsay. This function. That function. From Queen Latifah to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall – they’ve all managed to drop in over the last decade.

Defendant: ‘Lizzi’ Marriott died during BDSM sex act

Dover, N.H. —

A Dover, N.H. man charged with strangling Westborough High School graduate Elizabeth Marriott to death allegedly told police he killed her during the course of a consensual sex act involving erotic asphyxiation.

Thirty-year-old Seth Mazzaglia, of Dover, N.H., is facing first- and second-degree murder charges in connection with Marriott's death. He is accused of strangling Marriott with a rope inside his apartment on Mill Street on Oct. 9, 2012.

Police say after initially lying about the encounter, Mazzaglia admitted to his involvement during an interview at the Newington Police Department on Oct. 12, 2012. His statements to police were recounted in a police affidavit attached to an arrest warrant in the case.

The affidavit was among hundreds of pages of information unsealed Monday at the circuit court in Dover, N.H. Foster's Daily Democrat, the New Hampshire Union Leader and The Portsmouth Herald had all petitioned the court for access to the records, which had remained shielded from public view for more than six months.

The release followed Mazzaglia's indictment on murder charges in April by a Rockingham County grand jury.

According to the search warrant affidavit, Sergeant Joseph Ebert of the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit questioned Mazzaglia on Oct. 12. Mazzaglia initially recounted a “variety of stories” about how Marriott died, according to the affidavit, all of which involved BDSM (bondage sadomasochism) exploration “gone too far.”

In one early version of the story, Mazzaglia allegedly told police he arrived home on Oct. 9 and “immediately sensed something was wrong.” Mazzaglia claimed a Rochester couple was present, as well as his live-in girlfriend, Kathryn McDonough, and Elizabeth Marriott. Mazzaglia said he remembered seeing a line across Marriott's throat, and said he believed that “someone had used their hands to manually strangle her,Take a look at these imitation wrist watches for sale online, which are one of the best cheap replica watches in USA.” according to police.

He later allegedly admitted to using a rope to strangle Marriott himself during what he described as a consensual sex act. Mazzaglia said he was playing strip poker with Marriott and his girlfriend on Oct. 9 when the three of them began talking about BDSM, according to the affidavit. Mazzaglia said the conversation “eventually led to a consensual sexual encounter involving autoerotic asphyxiation.”

Mazzaglia told investigators he put a rope around Marriott's neck while he was having intercourse with her, and applied pressure to the rope, according to the police affidavit. At some point, Mazzaglia said McDonough also became involved, but it was Mazzaglia who was tightening the rope before Marriott's death.

Mazzaglia said Marriott suffered what he described as a seizure. Mazzaglia said he then checked her body for a pulse in multiple locations and placed a plastic grocery bag over her head. He also called a friend named Roberta for help, according to the police affidavit.

On Oct. 12, police also interviewed a Rochester,If you want to Buy Cheap Hermes Birkin with Guaranteed Quality, you're advised to visit hermes handbags store Store. N.H. couple named Roberta Gerkin and Paul Hickok. Gerkin told police she received a call from the cell phone of Mazzaglia, whom she knew as “Lex,” at 10:49 p.m.Welcome to replica louis vuitton outlet online store and buy latest Cheap Louis Vuitton handbags. on Oct. 9, according to court documents. Gerkin told police it was McDonough on the other end, asking her to travel to the apartment in Dover, N.H.

Hickok accompanied Gerkin, and when they arrived, they saw “a female subject lying unconscious on the living room floor,” according to the police affidavit. Gerkin described the woman to police as a white female with shoulder length brown hair, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall. The woman was clothed only in a pair of blue underwear, and there were brown plastic grocery bags covering her head and face, Gerkin told police.Welcome to order your own Michael Kors Handbags Outlet on sale with 100% guarantee quality and low price.Discover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women.

Gerkin said she used a box cutter to remove the bags, and observed the woman had a “blue face” and appeared to be dead, according to the police affidavit.

Gerkin claimed that “Lex” and McDonough then discussed “dumping the body,” but Gerkin wasn't specific about the exact statements she heard, according to the police affidavit.

For Love - ‘like a dirty pop song’

NEW YORK’S Irish Repertory Theatre comes to the Town Hall Theatre on Tuesday May 7 and Wednesday 8 at 8pm, with Laoisa Sexton’s much-acclaimed ‘dark blue comedy’, For Love.

Described as “riotously tart and fiercely energetic” by The New York Times, and “successfully and consistently comic” by Irish Theatre Magazine, For Love introduces us to Val, Tina and Bee, three Dublin women who are throwing down their handbags and looking for love, no matter what it costs.

For Love takes us on a relentless ride,One of the most popular ones are fake watches, cheap rolex watches illegally produced copies of authentic Rolex watches. a romp through the urban sexual experiences of these three women in modern day Dublin. Is there more than a one-night stand in Val’s future? Can Tina find the right dress if she’s got the wrong man? Should Bee hop into bed with a married man or just go to the zoo? Or is there something else out there?

Written by actress Laoisa Sexton, who also plays the role of Bee, For Love has already enjoyed a successful run in New York and comes to Galway as part of an Irish tour.

“We did it for the First Irish Festival which was on last September in New York,” Sexton tells me. “I submitted it and it got in. I didn’t think it would because I wrote it very fast. My first play took me a year and a half and this one was done in a month. We sold out on the run and it was a big success and then we did it off - Broadway and then the tour came along and it’s just been gathering momentum, it’s been quite an experience, I have learned so much.”

Despite the play’s American success, Sexton and co still had to raise the finance themselves to bring it to Ireland.Discover the largest collection of gucci handbags for women.

“We funded this ourselves, we did a fundit campaign,” she says. “We didn’t get any grant aid, when we applied we were told us there were only grants for work leaving Ireland not coming into the country. But it all came together eventually and hopefully sometime there will be structures set up to support the community of Irish artists living overseas.

“We even approached The Gathering and they said it didn’t qualify as ‘an event’. Yet it was John Duddy’s homecoming [ex-boxer Duddy is in the cast] and that was a big deal in Derry and we were invited to meet Martin McGuinness at Stormont for tea and bicies!”

Sexton goes on to describe the content of the play.

“It portrays three women in their thirties who are looking for love,” she says. “There is a lot of searching in the play. I like to say it’s like a dirty pop song, it deals with issues that everyone thinks about like love,Welcome to replica louis vuitton outlet online store and buy latest Cheap Louis Vuitton handbags. sex,why christian louboutin shoes so popular in uk? yearning, wanting, looking for stuff outside of yourself when it is probably quite close to you. It’s quite funny. It’s been called raunchy and we really go there but underneath it all it shows the emptiness of being loveless.

“It’s about what you will do for love and put yourself through. Val has a one-night stand and tears her heart out looking for the right person. The only time someone says ‘I love you’ in the play is when the married man is talking to his wife on the phone and he doesn’t really love her at all. They are four people who are really searching.”

What of the play’s characters?

“Val is overweight but optimistic and goes out on all these one-night stands trying desperately to find someone.” Sexton replies. “Bee is a single mother who is about to be a granny at thirty-two and the third woman, Tina, is unhappily married and she fills her life up with shopping and superficial things.

“All the male roles are played by John Duddy, including a married guy that Bee is debating about taking things to the next level with. It’s funny and dark, it’s a dark-blue comedy.”

As well as Duddy and Sexton, the cast features Jo Kinsella (Val) and Georgina McKevitt (Tina).

“Men love the play as well,The Michael Kors outlet will provide you cheap but high-quality products. it’s not like a chick-flick,” Sexton points out. “It’s about women but it’s not just for women. It’s not Sex and the City; it shows very real situations that happen to people and it’s not glamorised. And we have this recession hanging over us.

“These women have climbed up by their own efforts so they are successful in some regards, just not in love and that is the one thing that is missing from all their lives.”

Susan Greene:Where everybody knowsyour style

For many women, life is all about accessorizing. But not all women are fortunate enough to have the expertise and fashion savvy of Marc Greenfield and his longtime associates to lean on while scouring the many mall stores for the perfect accessory for that special occasion.

Those who know best turn to Greenfield, the owner of Susan Greene, a Mecca of uniquely designed jewelry, handbags, luggage, attachès and stylish accessories. The shop has been located at The Marketplace on Route 34 in Matawan for 43 years,One of the most popular ones are fake watches, cheap rolex watches illegally produced copies of authentic Rolex watches. since 1970.

On any given day, a customer can be found seeking the advice of Margaret Greenfield, Marc’s wife, or any of the other associates who are well-versed about fashion. One customer shows a swatch from a gown she will be wearing at her daughter’s wedding and she needs to find the perfect earrings. Another stops by to browse and recollect a beloved member of the Susan Greene family, who worked there for a number of years.

No matter the reason for visiting the store, the flow of traffic is steady and customers who come from far and wide leave with pieces that are either on the cusp of the future styles or keeping pace with the current ones. “I would say the hallmark of our business would be the service, selection and price of our items,” said Marc Greenfield. “A lot of our staff has been here for a while, some for as long as 30 years.”

“My parents, Ruth and Julius Greenfield, started the business at the Englishtown Auction in 1959. “There was really no place in the area to go shopping, so we had a captive audience,” he recalled. “We started to specialize in handbags and then added jewelry and luggage.”

Marc and Margaret Greenfield agree that their store’s customer service sets it apart from the stores and malls that have since sprouted in the area.

They recalled a recent trip to a local high-end department store where they weren’t offered assistance, nor were they greeted with a smile.“We’re very friendly and approachable and we try to make it a fun experience,” remarked Margaret Greenfield. “We aren’t pushy.”

“We offer a personalized service and help customers prepare for special occasions,” added Marc Greenfield. “Since we are located opposite Cinderella Bridals, a lot of customers stop by to look for that special accessory or piece that will add to their look.”

Because Marc and Margaret Greenfield attend every trade show possible — even as far away as Barcelona, Spain — they are proud to say they are on top of all of the latest trends. They recently decided to incorporate Uno de 50, a line of jewelry that can be worn everyday with a pair of jeans and casual top.
