A Christmas wish list for area sports people

All I want for Christmas is ... what?

If you don't know by now, you better hurry up, because Christmas Eve is two weeks from Monday. The jolly old elf from the North Pole doesn't have much time to pack the late requests onto his sleigh.

So, I figured I would help the big fella out a little bit. Plenty of good little boys and girls who make up the Capital Region sports landscape have been too busy to write a letter to Kris Kringle or visit him in the mall to give Santa a clue as to what to leave for them on the 25th of December.

I hope Mr. Claus is reading this, because I don't have his cell number, and Mrs. Claus hasn't talked to me since I told her gingerbread cookies tasted like year-old cardboard. Am pretty sure I won't be getting anything from the North Pole on Christmas.

Here is a what the basketball and hockey people of the 518 want for Christmas. And there is a horse trainer in there, too. And he promises he has been very good this year. And a football coach. One rule: no one was allowed to ask for a championship, or a bunch of wins, a Kentucky Derby trophy or a return trip to the Frozen Four. Let's keep this very material, boys and girls:

And here we go:

UAlbany men's basketball coach Will Brown: "I want an old CJ7 Jeep Renegade from the 1970s or 80s or a 1980s CJ7 Jeep Laredo. It's got to be an automatic. I had one from the time I graduated high school until I got married. Big tires, never had tires on it. I used to drive around in that thing and I didn't have a care in the world. Once we got married, my wife (Jamie) convinced me to get rid of it. I've been thinking about getting one as a toy."

Saratoga's leading trainer, Todd Pletcher: "Since it has to be an actual gift, I would like a gallon of my favorite ice cream, Purple Cow, from the Dairy House, which is on Route 9 on the way to the Wishing Well. Maybe I should get it through a gift certificate because the ice cream would melt if it was wrapped up and put under the tree."

Siena basketball player Rob Poole: "I'd have to say a car. Don't have one. I've got a 1980 Cadillac back home, but it barely works. So, if I had a brand new car, I'd be set for life. That's not coming. At all. I really hope that Santa brings it."

UAlbany women's basketball coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson: "I would love to have under my Christmas tree, a ticket to the "Ellen" (DeGeneres) show. I love that show. I've never been. Actually, I would love to be on her show, but I don't have any reason to be on it. I would love to go. I would love to be on it, and I would love to dance with her."

Union football coach John Audino: "I want my hair back as I shaved my head after we won four games in a row this season."

UAlbany basketball player Mike Black: "Jordan shoes. Definitely. I was always a fan growing up, being from Chicago. Who would not have been? I probably had some when I was younger, but I never owned a pair growing up. Michael Jordan shoes.More and more fashion ladies would like to buy shop chanel bags women in low price in our store. That's it."

RPI hockey coach Seth Appert: "I want tickets to a F.Buy online discount gucci handbags price from variety of collection.U.N concert. I don't care where, I would find a way to get there. It would be a blast. Four tickets.Buy High Quality Canada Goose Men's Tremblant Jacket Online . For me and my wife (Jill) and our neighbors, the former great Siena basketball player Bruce Shroeder and his wife Diane. How's that?"

UAlbany women's basketball player Megan Craig: "I need some warm clothes, I need another Northface jacket, a waterproof one. I need some more scarfs and beanies and gloves."

Union hockey goaltender Troy Grosenick: "The end of world hunger."

Siena women's basketball player Lily Grenci: "I would like unlimited pedicures for a year."

Albany Devils coach Rick Kowalsky: "Golf Clubs. My old ones have taken a beating.Buy dsquared shoes at the best price and free shipping."

Siena women's basketball coach Ali Jaques: "I want my sister, Sidney, to be safe. She is a second lieutenant in the Army, and she is up for deployment."

Union hockey coach Rick Bennett: "I already got my present, assistant coach Joe Dumais' healthy baby boy, Colin (born Dec. 5)."

Albany Devils left wing Joe Whitney:"Nothing in particular. It will be good to go home and see family and friends. I got my iPhone5 the other day,Wholesale and Discount SAXO BANK Cycling jersey online ! I just switched from Blackberry, so I got an early Christmas present."
