Robert Duffy moves into books

An innocent question about Robert Duffy's new-found familial bliss - he married boyfriend Alexis Cespedes in 2010, and they adopted a baby girl, Victoria, last year - gets The Telegraph 's interview with the Marc Jacobs CEO off on a stumble.Cheap Canada Goose Mystique Parka Parka For Sale. "I'm getting a divorce," Duffy snaps. Profuse, mortified apologies are met with a more forgiving response: "You're the first journalist I've told. You can tell everyone I'm very happy. My daughter and I - we're doing good."

Onto the business of the day: Bookmarc. Marc Jacobs, a relentless retail empire-builder, has branched out into books, offering a carefully curated selection of literature alongside bookish objects such as Olympia Le Tan's embroidered book jacket bags. Bookmarc opened in New York's West Village in 2010, occupying the site of a former family-run bookshop, and last month launched in London,Hi guys, I just had a few questions about the Men's Tremblant Jacket. in the basement of the Marc Jacobs store on Audley Street,The Canada Goose Chilliwack Parka Hooded Parka is one of the newest models from the Lightweight Series. It's a more natural Marc Jacobs outpost than it initially appears. Duffy is a bona fide bookworm; he even used to source all the rare books on sale in Bookmarc himself. "It is a hobby of mine, a real passion. I have three homes and every house is overrun with books," he says. Having already published a number of books - "we did a book with Juergen [Teller],For sale is a Men's HyBridge Jacket men's jacket. 'cos he does our campaigns; then I published 'The Men + Women of Marc Jacobs' [a photo essay by Brian Bowen Smith]"- people began coming to Duffy to publicise their novels. "I launched one of Francine Prose's books in one of our stores and it was a big success," he recalls. "It grew from there."

Duffy is reassuringly well-read, citing Somerset Maugham, Tennessee Williams, Francine Prose and David Sedaris as some of his favourite authors. He spent the summer reading William Burroughs, "which makes me a little bit scared", and re-reading Hemingway, "which I was really into when I was a teenager, and now I read it and think [screws up face], 'why was I into this?!'"

A more recent obsession is illustrator Antonio Lopez. "I met him a few times in the 'Seventies, through Perry Ellis. I was stunned by his ads, his polaroids. Marc is totally into Antonio Lopez too, but I think in a different way. We were doing a special project with somebody and I remembered this picture of a girl with ribbons - I thought it would be a great influence. Marc of course killed it straight away."

He also loves the work of Richard Prince. "He's another book collector so we trade with him. I have a home in Provincetown,Canada Goose Sale high quality Canada Goose D'Alpago Bomber with best price. Massachusetts, and he had these original posters of a Velvet Underground and Niko concert in Provincetown. So I bought them from him and donated them to the library. It's wonderful, the people who you meet in the book collector world."

Has he indulged in Fifty Shades of Grey , I venture? "It's not my thing." When I mention that it's particularly popular as a Kindle edition, he fires back, "don't you think it's weird that people have to hide what they're reading? If you're gonna read something graphic just read it with pride! Sometimes people pick up a book with graphic pictures in [in the store] and are so shocked, and I just think, 'You know what? It is what is it.'"
