Where have all the clothes gone?

Gisborne Salvation Army Family Store manager Heidi Parkes and Gisborne Red Cross retail co-ordinator Julie-Ann Parkes say although they can access clothing from stores in other districts, will be warm along with cheap plastic bangles sporting spyder Moncler jackets. they have experienced a drought here in donations of second-hand clothing.

Ms Parkes says in the past two months the Salvation Army has received only 25 percent of its usual donations.

“In the seven years I have been manager here, it is one of the leanest periods in terms of donations,” says Ms Parkes.

The shop front racks are still packed with clothing but the shop is “very low” on reserves.

“Our surplus of clothing is totally dependant on our day-to-day donations”

“This is a big contrast to summer months when the back storeroom is bursting at the seams with donations.”

Ms Parkes is baffled why the store has experienced this unusual clothing drought.

“Usually there are not as many donations over September and October but never as early as this,” says Ms Parkes. Our diet is calculated to best support our Lace Bodys tockings .

“Maybe it is because we had an unseasonable wet summer, so people are not getting rid of the clothes they would normally.

“I think the reality is that people do not have disposable incomes to spend on new clothes, so they are not discarding the old.”

Gisborne Red Cross retail co-ordinator Julie-Ann Ebdale says the Red Cross shop has also experienced the winter clothing blues.

“We always expect a shortage around July and the start of August,Master the many beautiful, yet deadly weapons in this wholesale jewelry online.” says Ms Ebdale.Wu Tang Women Sexy Leggings , the F Word, Disney Princesses & More.

“But as part of Red Cross retail we are able to go to the Whakatane store to source clothes, which helps immensely.”

Ms Ebdale says winter clothing like jackets and jerseys sell out straight away and they always need more donations.

Gisborne Seekers Megamart manager Nancy Smith says the store has not experienced a big shortage of donations because of their access to outside district donations, but says local donations are always low.

“We are always short on menswear and children’s wear,” says Mrs Smith.

Ms Parkes has an explanation for the shortage in these categories.Welcome to High Heel Shoes Wholesalers !

“Children’s clothing is usually passed around friends and family which is great for the community,” says Ms Parkes.

“Men just hold on to their clothes longer than women — they wear out the stuff they love.”
