information than you will ever want or need, but do you remember the
coats you wore while growing up? Are they really that much different
from today?
Here are a few that were popular in the 1940s and 1950s. Material used were wool, corduroy or could even be quilted. Nylon and polyester became popular after the war.

Church wear. Expensive leather coats or jackets. A sports coat, suit, an overcoat. Or ladies in full-length fur or a stole of fur. Then rabbit, imitation fur, etc. Animal right protesters took over and animals are no longer killed with their hides being used for clothing.
