The third edition of the 'Jaguar Trousseau Week'
recently took off at UB City with a grand opening night, which was attended by
the who's who of the City.
After a performance by Russian acrobats, the much-awaited 'Haute Couture' fashion show began, showcasing the best in bridal couture.
Choreographed by Achala Sachdev, the show began with a vibrant collection of saris and suits by Samsaara, combined with jewellery by Minawala. Among the pinks, oranges and reds was the occasional purple blouse or royal green dupatta, which gave the outfits an extravagant look.
The second collection incorporated 'Rumour' boutique's designer wear by Sadia Sayeed, which was a hit.
There was a lot of experimenting with the strapless blouses and different drapes of the saris, the highlights being the anarkalis and kalidar ghagra. There was an interesting collection by 'Turquoise & Gold' that went well with the theme of aqua. Pastel coloured dresses, which looked chic and would be apt for say, a beach wedding, were showcased. It was quite an exotic range of dresses, though it's hard to imagine an Indian bride wearing any of the pieces.
To ensure that the to-be grooms did not feel left out, Corneliani presented a range of suits for men. The ladies in the crowd began to hoot and cheer as the eight handsome models showed off their grey, black and beige suits with ties and bow-ties.
The grand finale by 'A S Motiwala' saw the girls come down in little black dresses with beautiful diamond jewellery — necklaces, earrings and bracelets, which were enough to make a style statement. The highlight was the wedding gown by La'kiru, worn by the showstopper.
